With the accommodation on three floors, the cottage has two bedrooms on the first floor and a single bedroom being located in the loft which is accessed via a smaller than normal door, so mind your head as you walk in as there is limited head room. On the ground floor there is an open plan living/dining room with a gas fire and a door leading to the private rear courtyard where you can sit out, have a barbecue and a drink. There is a compact functional kitchen with the usual appliances and accessed from the courtyard is a shed housing a washer/dryer and chest freezer.
    Positioned in a street not far from the waterside, Pulley Ridge Cottage is located within easy walking distance of Appledore’s bustling quay with views out towards Instow which offers a quiet inlet with sand dunes and a dog friendly sandy beach along with a selection of pubs and restaurants. There are plenty of quaint village streets which host a wide range of cafés, public houses, and boutique shops - the perfect place to simply wander and take in the surroundings. The historic port town of Bideford is just 2 miles away, as is the sandy beach of Westward Ho!, which is popular with surfers, windsurfers and beach lovers alike. There are plenty of local attractions and amenities nearby including the Royal North Devon Golf Course, horse riding stables, an indoor swimming pool, fishing, sailing and water-skiing facilities. Budleigh Salterton has many independent shops, lovely tea rooms and wonderful pubs. Being so close to the Jurassic Coast, this is the ideal base for walking; the coastal path takes you to Lyme Bay, Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth and Seaton, and Exeter, with its cathedral, is 11 miles away. There is so much to do, whether you are taking a family holiday or a short break away. Take a trip to Dartmoor with its ponies, tors and pubs tucked away in the countryside.     The Little House is a charming, mid-terrace cottage nestled in the heart of the Axe Valley in the small village of Axmouth on the Dorset & Devon border. This well positioned home is a few minutes drive from the seaside town of Seaton, between the coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. There is a mile long level walk along the riverside to the pretty Axe Harbour and the magnificent mile long Seaton beach with an esplanade, with views to the cliffs and Jurassic coastline.
    As you step inside the entrance hall, you will walk into the cosy and inviting living room which has plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV, DVD player, two sofas and a wood burner. The kitchen next door is fully equipped and the dining table in the conservatory is the perfect space for enjoying a home-cooked meal with your fellow guests, with a set of French doors opening out into the private tiered garden. The garden is fully enclosed and has an outdoor seating area where you can sip on your morning coffee and contemplate how to best spend your day. Heading up to the first floor, guests will find three well-presented bedrooms to retire to after each day of adventure. The master bedroom has a double bed, plenty of clothes storage and views out over the garden. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third has a 2ft 6in single bed (for child). Across the landing area is the family shower room which has a shower cubicle, toilet, wash basin and an LED mirror.
    The house enjoys a very peaceful location on a country lane adjacent to a stream with sheep in the nearby fields, an abundance of local walks and bridle paths nearby. There is a children’s playground opposite which is ideal for families staying in the cottage, and there are two great local pubs in Axmouth serving food. The cottage sits at the upper end of the beautiful Axe Estuary, abundant with bird and wildlife. At the mouth of the estuary is Axmouth Harbour, home to a number of small local fishing and pleasure boats, and direct access to pebble beaches, ideal for rock-pooling, crabbing, fishing and water sports. Within a mile is the small town of Seaton which has a unique tramway running inland, alongside the estuary and Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve, to the medieval market town of Colyton. The tram is perfect for birdwatchers, transport enthusiasts or those who simply want to watch the beautiful riverside scenery glide by.
    Only a short drive from the coastal resorts of Lyme Regis, Branscombe and Beer, this cottage is ideally placed to explore the World Heritage Jurassic coastline with its pretty beaches and fishing harbours. Also nearby is the market town of Axminster. Honiton is also well worth a visit, with some lovely cafés to enjoy after browsing in the antiques shops and the cathedral city of Exeter is another good day out. This wonderful stretch of east Devon coastline has a chain of pretty fishing villages and traditional seaside towns such as Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Beach 1 mile.

    Braunton is a large village, some say the largest in the UK, with everything you need locally and is the gateway to some of the finest award-winning surfing beaches in the country such as Saunton Sands, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe which are all within easy reach by car. If surfing, rock pooling, walking in the dunes or simply lazing on the beach is your thing, then look no further than these stunning locations. Braunton is considered as the major hub of the immediate area and has a good selection of regular and boutique shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, including one of the country’s best fish and chips restaurants! As the centre of the North Devon surf scene, Braunton is also home to the Museum of British Surfing and some great surfers’ shops.
    Fabulous Saunton Sands is a great expanse of sandy beach (regularly used as a filming location for movies and videos) with exceptional sand dunes behind it, known as Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in England. Walkers and runners love the dunes and it is also great for dogs. Saunton Golf Club is under 3 miles away and the Tarka Trail, which allows you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery, is just around the corner and follows a disused railway line and is loved by cyclists, runners and walkers alike.
    Further afield you can enjoy exploring more of North Devon and all its attractions such as Exmoor National Park, home of the first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’ in Europe, Valley of the Rocks, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Hartland and the world-famous Clovelly Village – all with awe-inspiring scenery. And there are plenty of family-oriented places to visit including Exmoor Zoo, Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park, Watermouth Castle family theme park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park plus many others.
