The historic cathedral city of Exeter is 12 miles away with easy parking and a direct rail link from Crediton. The scenic national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are within a 40-minute drive away. Dartmoor is a vast moorland defined by forests, rivers, wetlands, and tors (rock formations). A freshwater spring within the grounds is the apparent exact centre of Devon. Both cottages are furnished and equipped to a very good standard and each has its own unique character and charm. Wood burners, well-equipped kitchens and private patio areas all contribute to the appeal of the cottages. Both Grattan Cottage, which is detached, and Manor Cottage, a wing of a property, overlook the old orchard, a large lawned area with some of the remaining fruit trees. It’s ideal for sitting out on a warm summer’s day or taking the dog for an early morning stretch. Within the orchard, each cottage has a private sitting-out area; Grattan Cottage has a raised gazebo and the use of a barbecue hut in the orchard. Croquet is occasionally available by prior arrangement with the Lord of the Manor, i.e. the owner. All-weather tennis court (please bring your own equipment). The village of Bow is a short distance away and has a pub and well-stocked local convenience store.
