Swimbridge, EnglandIn the grounds of the owners’ very well-presented and maintained fishing venue, these three holiday properties (refs 29794, 30788 and 31308) are well-equipped to ensure a restful holiday. Kingfisher is a detached, single-storey cottage, sleeping six guests, The Lodge is set over two floors and sleeps four guests, and Mole is semi-detached and also sleeps four guests. The cottages have their own enclosed, lawned garden with sitting-out area and views across the beautiful grounds. There are two well-stocked coarse fishing lakes at Riverton which are included in the price of your stay, as well as a third beautiful lake (members only).
If you are not fishing, there is still plenty to do in this lovely part of Devon. Located just outside the regional town of Barnstaple, the cottages are in an ideal location to explore this stunning part of the British Isles. A few miles away, you have access to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach at Instow is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Barnstaple is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require as well as a busy high street and market. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. - Axminster, EnglandWelcome to Honey Hill Farm Cottages, the home of both Honey Bee (UK43395) and Bumble Bee (UK43396) cottages, two fabulous holiday homes. Set all on one level, they have been finished to a very good standard and nestle in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, yet within easy reach of the Jurassic coast and midway between the towns of Axminster and Chard.
Both properties are identical layouts inside, enjoying underfloor heating throughout and with a spacious open plan living, kitchen and dining areas. The gorgeous kitchens are very well equipped with everything you will need during your stay, including a handy washer/dryer. The living room has comfy sofas, Smart TV to catch up on your latest box set and large French doors leading to your private enclosed garden which has a lovely patio area and artificial grass allowing children and your four legged friends to enjoy the garden at any time of year. In Honey Bee you will find a kingsize bed while Bumble Bee has a double bed, both have an en-suite shower rooms with walk in showers, the en-suite is a ‘Jack and Jill’ bathroom which allows access from both the bedroom and main living area. A ‘Murphy’ pull down double bed is available in the main living area with curtain to separate, allowing four guests to comfortably enjoy these wonderful retreats in the country. Opposite the parking area you will find the owner’s 4-acre field for walking the dogs and enjoying the views.
You will find a local pub/restaurant and farm shop within a 5-minute walk of the properties, alternatively, jump in the car and explore the many things to do within a short drive. Axminster has small independent shops as well as larger stores and a railway station, so you could leave the car at home and hop aboard and head down to Exeter for a day in the city sampling restaurants or a spot of retail therapy!
The Jurassic Coast beaches of Lyme Regis and Charmouth are just 20 minutes from you, here you can walk the promenade, swim in the sea or have an ice cream at Lyme, or hunt for Fossils in Charmouth while your dog swims in the river or the sea. Chulmleigh, EnglandSet in the quiet North Devon countryside, The Horse Gin and Oak Stall form two beautiful cottages within Higher Blagrove Farm Cottages, a Grade II listed Devon stone and cob barn. Converted in 2019, each cottage sympathetically combines the original character of the old barn with modern living requirements and feature wood burning stoves, double height living spaces, oak flooring, exposed stonework/beams and underfloor heating. The open-plan style cottages are ideal for couples and families and both properties accept pets. Set within the 4-acre grounds of the main thatched farmhouse, the cottages enjoy south facing views over fields towards Dartmoor and access to a stunning landscaped lake with seating and picnic areas.
Higher Blagrove Farm Cottages are situated just off the B3137 South Molton to Tiverton road. Both towns have a good range of shops, supermarkets, traditional pannier markets and amenities. The village of Witheridge is 3 minutes’ drive away with a 7-day convenience store/post office, pub, cafe and a newsagent. A pizza van serves excellent wood-fired pizzas in the village each Wednesday and a fish and chip van visits on Fridays. The local area is well served with pubs and restaurants. Chulmleigh, 10 minutes’ away, is a charming town with two pubs, a lovely restaurant, an Indian restaurant/takeaway, a convenience store, newsagent/post office, bakery and a traditional butcher. The Grove Inn, voted North Devon’s Best Pub by CAMRA, in King’s Nympton, is a 12-minute drive away and serves delicious food. The Stag Inn at Rackenford, reputed to be Devon’s oldest pub, is 14 minutes’ away. The Michelin-starred Masons Arms in Knowstone, is 10 minutes’ away on the edge of Exmoor and offers superb cuisine. Barnstaple, 20 miles away, has a theatre, cinema and leisure activities. Places of interest include The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, large pannier market and 14th Century St. Queen Anne’s Walk. Other attractions in the area include RHS Gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal factory at Torrington.
