During your stay be sure to add a meander around the picturesque village of Monyash and an afternoon exploring the shops and eateries in Bakewell to your agenda. Whilst this isn’t a coastal destination, you may think twice if you stumble across Matlock Bath, with its seaside-like row of amusement arcades and fish and chip shops. Also close by is the Heights of Abraham, sure to make for a great day out if you like caverns and cable cars that is - there’s something for everyone here and the scenery is not to be missed. Not forgetting about the sheer beauty of your surroundings; walking and cycling in this area proves to be popular and there are lots of unique country pubs around to finish your adventure with a reward. Bee Keepers Cottage is located on a working farm on the edge of Derbyshire’s Peak District, the cottage overlooks the 18 hole golf course at Shirland Golf and country club where visitors day passes are available.

The cottage has beautiful rural views and offers guests the peace and quiet of rural living yet within easy access of local attractions and transport networks, and there is a golf course boarding the property’s grounds and miles of footpath networks adjacent to the farm.

The accommodation at Bee Keepers cottage is spaced over a single storey and offers light, bright accommodation with beautiful gardens and views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside.

Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Crich tramway museum are a short drive away. Local towns include Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield. Derby and Nottinghamshire are a 20-minute drive.

The location is popular with walkers who enjoy the beautiful walks and trails straight from the doorstep.

All accommodation is on the ground floor. The Large modern kitchen/dining area to seat 6 and opens out onto the living area with Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric eye level oven, built in microwave, induction hob, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Two bedrooms have king size beds, and the third a single bed, and there is a family bathroom with bath and shower above – there is also an additional shower room with quadrant shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

Outside there are two seating areas, a BBQ, gardens and plenty of off-road parking.

Guests are welcome to visit the horses in the barn next to the property (prior arrangement with the owner), please supervise children for their safety.

The cottage, built for salt mill workers is 18th century, and its name originates from Wilne Lane which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
Shardlow is an unexpected delight for any unsuspecting visitor, whether emerging from the Derby conurbation in the north and finding quiet, spacious, sweeping greenery, or from the south where a signpost tells you you’re now in Derbyshire, although without the hills and dales you might have been expecting. As you spy the boats, locks, and warehouses, you might even wonder if you’ve been transported to a corner of the Netherlands, an impression that would have been even more likely if Shardlow had hung on to its windmill and more importantly in its hayday it was referred to as ‘Rural Rotterdam’ and ‘Little Liverpool’. Today Shardlow is Britain’s most complete surviving example of a canal village, much of it snuggled safely in a conservation area.

Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.

Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Walk through the garden to the front door and you will see the sunken hot tub and an enclosed courtyard with patio furniture. You are a short drive from Matlock Bath which boasts the famous illuminations annually, Gulliver’s Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham. The Pig Barn at Nether Burrows Farm was lovingly converted in 2016 and once housed pigs along with their keepers that used to sleep in the same building on the top floor. The bustling city of Derby is just 4 miles away and within easy driving distance are Chatsworth House (which boasts a famous collection of art treasures as well as beautiful gardens) and Haddon Hall (England’s most complete and authentic medieval house dating back to the 14th century). Carsington Water offers nature trails, a wildlife sanctuary, riding, water sports, cycle hire and a restaurant. There are many excellent pubs in the surrounding villages. Littonfields Barn is a beautiful barn conversion in the heart of the Peak District and offers luxury accommodation for up to twelve guests across five en-suite bedrooms. There is a pretty, raised patio area with table and chairs which is the perfect spot for your morning coffee or a family barbecue.
There is a country pub close by serving great food as well as a local shop open seven days a week. There are many wonderful walks straight from the door, and walks from the property include the Litton Loop which is a lovely circular route direct from the barn which takes the Cressbrook Dale, Litton Edge and a few cafés and pubs along the way. The High Peak, Monsall and Tissington Trails are a short drive from the property plus there are many places for cycle hire. Be sure to come to this perfect spot for your celebrations and get togethers.

If you’re an adventure enthusiast, you’ll find plenty to do in the area. Engage in exhilarating activities such as cycling, horseback riding, or even hot-air ballooning to appreciate the breath-taking views from above. Further afield, don’t miss a visit to Chatsworth House or the stunning Heights of Abraham, a hilltop park with caves and a cable car ride. There are many eateries around this location consisting of pubs, cafés and restaurants to serve all appetites.

Woodlands Barn is a bungalow offering excellent accommodation for up to four guests and one large dog or two small ones. The property is private and has an outstanding view across the village of Chinley and surrounding Peak District hills. Previously a stable, this property has undergone extensive renovations in 2023 and is light and finished to a very good standard. As you arrive at the long private drive, you will find a designated parking area for two vehicles; there is also a secure bike store and an EV charger available (at additional cost by arrangement with the owners). At the top of the driveway you will find a patio area at the front of the property with outdoor furniture and chiminea; it is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee whilst planning your exciting day ahead, or at the end of the day light the chiminea and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine.
Step into the bungalow and you are into the kitchen where there is a utility section offering washing machine, doggy cupboard plus an iron and ironing board. The kitchen has all the equipment and appliances you should need as well as a dining table with four chairs positioned perfectly to take in the views. The living room is comfortable with ample furniture, Smart TV, and an electric wood burner.
There is a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite shower room; this bed can be made into a twin upon request. The second bedroom is also kingsize and there is a separate family shower room. Views can be enjoyed from every room (please note that there is a signal mast on site, but this is positioned behind the property and can only be seen from the bottom of the driveway and the parking area).
Woodlands Barn is located in the village of Chinley, which has a lot to offer with two great pubs within walking distance as well as an Indian restaurant, convenience store, launderette, pharmacy, post office, fish and chip shop and two cafés. Train links take you into Sheffield or Manchester city centre, and very popular village of Edale is on this line. Locally there are some great walking or cycling routes as well so take your bikes on the train and cycle back. Immediate walks from the property is the adjacent Cracken Edge to Kinder Scout and South Head.
A short drive from the property is the Spa town of Buxton which has great shops, restaurants, Pooles Cavern and Buxton Opera House hosting shows weekly. Visit Castleton where you can explore the underground caves in a boat or visit Chatsworth House and Gardens or Lyme Park for a historic day out at these beautiful stately homes. There are ample of things to do and explore in this area making for a fun-filled Peak District holiday.
