It was here in 1259 that Sir Richard de Hartle was issued a Papal Bull by Pope Alexander II, allowing him to appoint his own chaplain. The chapel ceased its functions as a place of worship in 1546 and now takes the form of The Chapel and Hartle Cottage. The eight cottages are furnished with antiques and surround a medieval cobbled courtyard. They all retain a wealth of original features including thick stone walls, large oak beams, mullion windows and flagstone floors. National Trust properties and gardens nearby include Riley Graves, Longshaw, Mam Tor, South Peak, Dovedale, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall. Close by are both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Shardlow is an unexpected delight for any unsuspecting visitor, whether emerging from the Derby conurbation in the north and finding quiet, spacious, sweeping greenery, or from the south where a signpost tells you you’re now in Derbyshire, although without the hills and dales you might have been expecting. Sycamore Cottage is a stunning cottage located on the edge of the quirky village of Bonsall. Walk through the garden to the front door and you will see the sunken hot tub and an enclosed courtyard with patio furniture. Step in to the kitchen, finished with a modern interior whilst still keeping the tradition of the house, there is everything you should need here to cook up your favourite meals, and a dining table to enjoy it at. The living room has a large TV and ’wood burner effect’ electric fire with a comfortable corner sofa, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms and with lovely views down the village. One of the double rooms can be made into twin beds on request. There is plenty of roadside parking close to the cottage.
Explore the village with its unique roundabout feature and quaint pubs. There is a walk along the Limestone Way straight from your doorstep which is a route running from Bonsall to Matlock. You are a short drive from Matlock Bath which boasts the famous illuminations annually, Gulliver’s Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham. Ensure you take a visit to Chatsworth House, a fantastic estate to walk around and explore. Ashbourne is a fantastic town, offering an array of restaurants, pubs and cafés plus local shops. There are ample walks and trails from the town to explore, plus Alton Towers theme park being a short 15-minute drive away. The Haven is the perfect couples’ retreat to experience a little piece of tranquillity and relaxation within this great town.

Lindum Cottage is located within a highly sought-after area of the Peak District. It lies about 5 miles from Bakewell and 9 miles from Buxton in the picturesque village of Monyash, which is everything you would imagine a Derbyshire village to be, with a café, greens and a pond, as well as a local pub serving delicious home cooked meals. You are spoilt by walks and trails, whether you want a short drive out to Chatsworth or to stay close to home and head to the High Peak Trail, there are ample of options available for you. The nearest towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne are great to explore with independent shops and cafés.
If you want to try more adventurous activities besides walking, you can take a trip to Castleton and head into the Caves or Alton Towers theme park is only a 35-minute drive. There is plenty to do for all the family to enjoy. After your fun filled day out retreat to Lindum Cottage, with its cosy atmosphere, this cottage has been loved by families for many years. This cottage has an ‘olde world’ style in some rooms with traditional finishes.
Enter the living room, which offers comfortable seating, a warming wood burner and a TV. Padfield House is located in a great area for walkers and cyclists. It sits on the Pennine Trail, Longendale Trail and is also near the Pennine Way. Backing on to a wooded area and five reservoirs, this is the perfect location for your countryside getaway. In the immediate village is a local pub within walking distance. You a just a short drive from Glossop town itself which has all the necessary amenities.
This cosy house has an open plan living space downstairs; you enter into the living area with its electric wood burner, TV, desk area, comfortable seating and a double sofa bed, which can be made up if required. Step into the kitchen/dining area and find a wonderful fitted kitchen. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with a double. Both bedrooms are light and spacious and have high quality mattresses and linen to ensure you have a good night’s sleep. Completing the accommodation is a shower room with walk-in shower. To the front of the property is a garden area with rattan furniture, and there is a small yard to the rear of the house, too, which is ideal for pets. Parking is available directly outside the house.

Woodlands Barn is a bungalow offering excellent accommodation for up to four guests and one large dog or two small ones. The property is private and has an outstanding view across the village of Chinley and surrounding Peak District hills. Previously a stable, this property has undergone extensive renovations in 2023 and is light and finished to a very good standard. As you arrive at the long private drive, you will find a designated parking area for two vehicles; there is also a secure bike store and an EV charger available (at additional cost by arrangement with the owners). At the top of the driveway you will find a patio area at the front of the property with outdoor furniture and chiminea; it is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee whilst planning your exciting day ahead, or at the end of the day light the chiminea and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine.
Step into the bungalow and you are into the kitchen where there is a utility section offering washing machine, doggy cupboard plus an iron and ironing board. The kitchen has all the equipment and appliances you should need as well as a dining table with four chairs positioned perfectly to take in the views. The living room is comfortable with ample furniture, Smart TV, and an electric wood burner.
There is a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite shower room; this bed can be made into a twin upon request. The second bedroom is also kingsize and there is a separate family shower room. Views can be enjoyed from every room (please note that there is a signal mast on site, but this is positioned behind the property and can only be seen from the bottom of the driveway and the parking area).
Woodlands Barn is located in the village of Chinley, which has a lot to offer with two great pubs within walking distance as well as an Indian restaurant, convenience store, launderette, pharmacy, post office, fish and chip shop and two cafés. Train links take you into Sheffield or Manchester city centre, and very popular village of Edale is on this line. Locally there are some great walking or cycling routes as well so take your bikes on the train and cycle back. Immediate walks from the property is the adjacent Cracken Edge to Kinder Scout and South Head.
A short drive from the property is the Spa town of Buxton which has great shops, restaurants, Pooles Cavern and Buxton Opera House hosting shows weekly. Visit Castleton where you can explore the underground caves in a boat or visit Chatsworth House and Gardens or Lyme Park for a historic day out at these beautiful stately homes. There are ample of things to do and explore in this area making for a fun-filled Peak District holiday.

Squirrel Cottage has been renovated in 2023, to a tasteful and modern standard. As you arrive and step into the open plan living space, you will find a beautiful island (with built-in hob) in the centre of the room, which also provides dining space for up to four guests to sit comfortably. The kitchen has all the appliances you should need to cook up a storm if you wish to do so! The living area has comfortable seating with a large, wall-mounted, Smart TV and to finish the room off nicely; bi-fold doors lead out into the garden, which can be left open on days that allow.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with a kingsize bed, which has the addition of a galleried snug area with TV and bean bags to give you a little quiet corner to enjoy, and also an en-suite with freestanding bath (please be careful on the laddered steps to get to this area). The second bedroom is a king which can be split into two singles if required, and has wardrobe space. Outside is a great size garden, which has a lawned area to the right as well as a patio directly outside the bi-fold doors. You can sit on the garden furniture and watch the squirrels!
Squirrel Cottage is located in close proximity to the town centre of Glossop, just a short walk away from all it has to offer, including coffee shops, pubs and restaurants as well as supermarkets and shops. Manor park and gardens are also just around the corner. There is a variety of walks surrounding Glossop, such as, a car-free Longendale Trail which has beautiful scenery to take in while you enjoy your walk or cycle, plus you are only a 30-minute drive from Edale, Castleton or the spa town of Buxton, all offering further fantastic walking routes which are picturesque.
