Scattered amongst the spectacular countryside are many picturesque villages and ancient market towns such as Pocklington, Howden and Driffield. Beverley, capital of the Wolds, is home to a beautiful Gothic minster, old buildings and a racecourse. Described as a jewel waiting to be discovered, the Yorkshire Wolds boast countless villages, ancient inns and historic houses. Burnby Hall Gardens, Burton Agnes Hall and Burton Constable are all close by. Three miles away in Barmby Moor, the Wolds Gliding Club offers trial flights all year round.
Just 4 miles away is the Buddhist Centre at the wonderful Georgian mansion of Kilnwick Percy Hall, which offers lessons and courses in meditation. Aircraft enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the Real Aeroplane Museum (Selby, 25 miles) where a magnificent Hawker Hurricane and P-51 Mustang can be seen, and the Yorkshire Air Museum (Elvington, 5 miles) with a superb collection of pre- and post-WWII aircraft. The ancient walled city of York is only 12 miles away, and boasts plenty of attractions for all the family, including the Castle Museum, York Dungeons, National Railway Museum, York Racecourse and the famous Jorvik Viking Centre. Glendale Cottage (ref W43490) and Glendale Mews (ref W43489) are the ideal spot for a relaxing and peaceful holiday in beautiful natural surroundings. There is an indoor, heated swimming pool which guests can hire for private use (at cost), and also the use of over 11 acres of natural woodland and grounds that form part of this beautiful location. The owners live on-site in the original period farmhouse, accessed via a driveway lined with rhododendrons through a small dense wood. There is a small wooded picnic and play area with a log cabin function room and a large charcoal BBQ, as well as another wooded area accommodating hens and a natural pond. There is access to a public footpath from the properties.
Located on the southern edge of the Northumberland National Park and inside the International Dark Skies Park, Glendale is easily found on the B6318 just north of Haltwhistle.
Perfect for guests who enjoy walking, rambling or cycling, these properties are within walking distance of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, and are situated centrally between Walltown Craggs and Cawfield’s picnic area, two of the most picturesque views along the wall. Just a little further along are the Roman remains and museums of Vindolanda and Housesteads as well as Steel Rigg, Sycamore Gap and the Visitor Centre at Once Brewed (The Sill), which offers charging, points for electric vehicles.
Many other activities are available locally, including birdwatching, horse riding, tennis, golf, fishing and open air swimming. Glendale is perfectly placed for easy access to many other historical Roman sites, forts and temples, the National Nature Reserves of Muckle Moss and Greenlee Lough, and the spectacular Kielder Forest and Reservoir offering a variety of sailing and water sports. Northumberland is a county of wild open spaces, unspoilt and breathtaking.
For those guests wishing to explore further afield, within an hour’s drive there is Carlisle, Gateway to Scotland and the Lake District, the historic town of Hexham, and fabulous shopping at the Metrocentre, Gateshead, as well as Newcastle city with its regenerated riverside, shopping, theatres and nightlife.

This Shepherd’s Hut with stunning views, hot tub and private use of the indoor pool has direct access to Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty South Coast paths, pubs and shops. The living area has stable doors from which to enjoy the uninterrupted valley views, and the dining furniture can be used inside or out. The bedroom area with a wardrobe and storage, has a double bed made up of quality linens, that can be stored vertically for extra space. The garden is enclosed and partly sheltered and has a fire pit and undercover area with fairy lights, a worktop, sink, BBQ (including starter coals) and loungers to soak up the great views. This is an area with low light pollution and the Protected Sky Status for star gazing! Visitors have direct access to 2-acre dog walking paddocks and further Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Isle of Wight paths. There is a shared indoor heated swimming pool and private use can be arranged with the owner prior to arrival.

You are welcome to join the owners for a walk or cycle to the nearby St Catherine’s Oratory or ‘Pepperpot’, as it is known locally, or into the close by villages of Whitell and Niton, with many options to venture further afield.

Pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, the famous Needles, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the location offers guests amazing panoramic views of rolling hills, nearby white cliffs and the coastline. This self catering holiday property have been converted from original farm buildings and offer spacious accommodation, enclosed gardens and paddocks with direct access to foot and cycle paths.
The Stables is a perfect romantic break for two. This detached, single-storey property has vaulted ceilings, a well-equipped kitchen and a cosy wood burner. You can enjoy a peaceful nights’ sleep in the super kingsize bed, and the en-suite boasts a roll-top bath and large walk-in shower. Step out of the large patio doors to a private seating area with a barbecue and enclosed garden with far-reaching views to watch the abundant wildlife.
A welcome hamper will be waiting for you on arrival with fresh milk, butter, eggs, homemade bread and local produce (extra supplies and/or dietary alternatives available on request). All produce is locally sourced where possible and you are welcome to seasonal fruit or vegetables from the main garden.
Friendly, sociable adult dogs (over 12 months old) are welcome on holiday too but NOT left alone unless totally happy/settled in and agreed with owner in advance, while making use of the pool. They have their very own pet hamper with a microfibre mattress, towels, natural shampoo, toys, treats and pet ID tag.
There are further gardens, walking paddocks and a central outside hot and cold water hose for muddy dogs, boots or bikes. The owners, who live on-site along with their dogs and animals, are available should you need any help. The owners have an annex in the grounds where they often stay, one end of which is just a few yards away from Silverland’s back door, but they have their own entrance, drive, car park and garden, all separate to Silverland. All the windows and doors of the annex are double glazed, kept closed and have blackout blinds and curtains drawn to ensure your privacy. Unless you need the owner’s assistance for anything, you will not see them from arrival to departure, but they are happy to help if necessary - the choice is yours.

Set on the owners’ non-working farm in Horbling village, this detached farmhouse, with its own swimming pool and hot tub, lies in the heart of the Fens, an ideal touring base for visiting the area’s wealth of historic attractions. Providing comfortable holiday accommodation for families, it retains many original features, including exposed woodwork, an ornate cornice in the dining room and a traditional farmhouse-style kitchen. There is a second sitting room, well-stocked library and video and DVD collection (including latest releases). The fenlands make ideal walking and cycling country, an excellent way to view the landscape with its rich farmlands, huge skies and wonderful sunsets; walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep; facilities can be found nearby for golf, fishing or horse riding. Within easy driving distance are a wealth of interesting places, including the delightful old towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford, full of beautiful stone buildings. On the edge of Stamford stands Burleigh House, one of England’s greatest Elizabethan houses. Nearby Spalding is an attractive, Dutch-influenced town and centre of the flower-bulb industry, where the Springfields show gardens and the annual flower festival in May are popular. Tattershall Castle (NT), Belton House and Coningsby, noted for its huge one-handed church clock, and the home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. One of the landmarks of the Fens is the octagonal lantern tower of St Botolph’s Church in Boston. Shop and good pub with food ½ mile in Billingborough, or village pub 300 yards.

This detached cottage is perfect for families, or those looking to enjoy a break away in the South Cotswolds on the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire border. The Mill Lodge is beautifully situated between the picturesque villages of Garsdon and Charlton and a short distance to the charming market town of Malmesbury. This stunning cottage is located off a tree-lined drive on the estate of a former water mill, where the owners reside. Surrounded by stunning views and beautiful countryside, this really is an idyllic base for exploring all that Wiltshire and the Cotswolds has to offer.
The recently renovated (2023) Mill Lodge has been lovingly furnished and equipped to a high standard throughout and includes fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful surroundings. The living room features a Smart TV and comfortable sofas, as well as a wood burner for cosy evenings indoors. On the ground floor, you will also find a bedroom with a kingsize bed and en-suite shower room, whilst upstairs are two lovely bedrooms, with the first featuring 2 x single beds (6’6"long), the second bedroom being a kingsize, alongside a family bathroom.
The property has both front and back gardens with the front mostly laid to lawn. The back garden enjoys a south-facing patio and lawned area overlooking willow trees, parkland and the former Mill, which is ideal for outdoor dining or barbecuing. The Mill Lodge is situated three miles from the charming and historic market town of Malmesbury. Here you will find a plethora of independent gift shops, restaurants and a stunning 12th-century abbey, as well as supermarkets and a town hall that shows recent cinema releases. Nearby, there are quintessentially English villages and lively market towns with breath-taking landscapes and scenic trails, gardens and bridleways waiting to be explored. It makes an ideal base for exploring a myriad of fascinating attractions including the elegant city of Bath, the Roman town of Cirencester, Westonbirt Arboretum and the antique shops of Tetbury. For those looking for watersports or lake walks, Cotswold Water Park is within easy reach, whilst Lacock Abbey, Bowood House and Dyrham Park are also well worth a visit. Closer to home, the local villages of Charlton (1 mile) and Lea (1.5 miles) both have fantastic play areas for children and boast country pubs for further dining opportunities.
