The Mount can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide or by small ferry boat at high tide. Marazion attracts birdwatchers from all over the UK to the marshes, a true wildlife haven. Penzance has a long flat promenade, leading past the open-air lido to the busy fishing harbour of Newlyn, one of the leading fishing ports in the country. Newlyn is also famous for its art school and galleries. Continue along the coastal path to the quaint harbour and village of Mousehole. The area has an abundance of restaurants, cafés, delis, shops and art galleries. Take a day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly by sea from Penzance or small plane from Lands End airport. A family bedroom on the first floor provides a level living area for those with a mobility issue. On the ground floor are further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Barn Cottage (CWC562587) is also a reverse level, semi-detached cottage with two bedrooms on the ground floor.
This is a real farm experience, fresh free-range eggs are available from the owners, and there are a number of walks across the delightful 150 acres. This is a dog-friendly property however please note that it is a working Beef and Sheep farm, so dogs must be kept under control.
Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartland which has a magnificent church with an amazing painted ceiling and one of the tallest towers in England. Hartland Quay has a hotel and Wreckers Bar as the coast here is littered with wrecks and is a lovely spot for some lunch. Also well worth a visit is the world-famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400’ high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port. Beach 2 miles.
