Recently built in 2022, the property sits alongside the owner’s home on a working farm (dogs are present on the farm, but will be with the owners), and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the town of Ottery St. Mary. As you enter Deer View Retreat, you will be welcomed into the entrance area with patio doors opening out into the garden, the perfect cosy spot to enjoy a mug of coffee with a good book. This then leads through to the open plan living and dining area where you can wind down and watch a film after a busy day exploring the coastline or enjoy a family meal together. Enjoy your breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen whilst taking in the far reaching views, the stag with his magnificent antlers and the ever-changing scenery. There’s also a handy utility area next door.
Discover the two stylish bedrooms and the bathroom on the first floor. The first has a double bed, the second is furnished with zip and link twin beds, and the shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink.
The town of Ottery St. Mary has beautiful architecture and historic buildings lining the streets, backed by rural Devonshire countryside. Wander through the centre to browse independent shops and galleries or stroll along the River Otter to admire the unusual Tumbling Weir. If you’re exploring beyond the town, you’ll be close to the quintessential East Devon coastal towns and villages of Budleigh Salterton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton. Exeter and Honiton are also within easy reach. The Southwest Coast Path is nearby and keen hikers should head to Dartmoor National Park with is just a 30-minute drive away. Located on the coastal road between Woodbridge and Snape in the Suffolk coastal area of outstanding beauty. This Victorian farm cottage was built in 1872 and is located close to many of the best tourist attractions in Suffolk.
The cottage is full of character being a period building, it has a beautiful log burner and traditional comfortable furnishings with a modern, contemporary and clean decor. There is a small bathroom downstairs with a bath and a powerful hot shower too, there are three spacious bedrooms although the cottage comfortably hosts up to four people. The garden is large with comfortable outdoor furniture for you to enjoy your coffee at sunrise and wine at sunset. A flock of curious, funny, welcoming and happy hens and a cockerel live on the property and lay THE BEST eggs for your breakfast, which you are welcome to collect and eat. If you could feed them each morning, the owner would greatly appreciate it.
There are so many attractions nearby such as the UFO walk in the well-known Rendlesham forest, the famous “Sutton Hoo” viking burial site (Netflix made a popular series about it) 5 minutes down the road. We are only 13 minutes away from the nearest beach, shingle street, and 18 minutes from Aldeburgh, a popular tourist destination. In addition to a plethora of top-quality restaurants, pubs, and Michelin star eateries, Woodbridge was voted the best place to live in the east in 2021. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. The village has several good pubs, including one of the oldest pubs in the Peak District and another which offers home brewed Ashover ales. The county town of Matlock, a former spa town, offers a host of fine eating places, good shops and an interesting museum, whilst at the heart of the town, Hall Leys Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities such as bowls, tennis and boating.
Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. Follow the High Peak Cycle Trail, explore the lovely market town of Bakewell, famous for the Bakewell pudding or visit the elegant Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall where it all started for the Cavendish family. There is certainly plenty to see and do at this wonderful location.

You are close to the Camel Trail, where you can walk or cycle along a disused railway track by the Camel Estuary, taking in the bird life, to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin. Just a short drive away are the many sandy beaches of the north coast, including Watergate Bay, the home of extreme watersports. Right on the doorstep of the magnificent Langdales, 2½ miles from Ambleside and 8 miles from Coniston. It is a perfect base for touring and exploring the footpaths in the area with numerous woodland and hill walks straight from the door. Great for wildlife lovers, with deer and other animals freely wandering through this small, select woodland retreat. The Lake District Visitor Centre near Windermere is worth a visit (activities include high ropes, horse riding etc), as is the nearby water sports centre on Windermere. Pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Step through the door and you’ll be wowed by the beautiful interior of this lovely ground-floor holiday accommodation. Everywhere you look, you’ll be delighted with the well-thought-out living spaces and fantastic finishing touches. The open-plan living space provides a sociable space for film nights in front of the media centre and stove, and meals together reminiscing over the day’s adventures. The large sliding patio door leads to a decking area which can be a lovely sun trap on warmer days where you can enjoy an evening drink or a family barbecue. The decking, which is for sole use of guests, looks over the communal courtyard, which features a lovely lantern. For the grown-up kids, there is a snug mezzanine area reached by a fixed ladder, the perfect place for chilling out. There are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the second with a single bed and pull-out trundle that can be made up as two singles or a double bed; there is also a ‘secret’ sleeping space with cabin-style bed accessed by a fixed ladder in this room.
Bramley is a lovely large village in north Hampshire boasting its own railway station, which is just a 10-minute walk from Lantern Lodge and connects you to Basingstoke and Reading. The village also offers a great bakery and pub. You can reach the larger towns of Basingstoke, 5 miles away, and Reading, 10 miles away, quite easily and they boast an array of local amenities, shopping, and a choice of eateries. There is much to explore in this area including The Vyne, a historic National Trust property, less than a mile away, which hosts events and outdoor concerts in its stunning grounds. Silchester Roman ruins, less than 4 miles away - a great dog walk too; Wellington country park, an award-winning destination for a family day out, Wellington farm shop and café selling locally sourced produce, both within 4 miles, Highclere Castle; made famous by the filming of Downton Abbey is 16 miles away. The Cathedral and medieval city of Winchester are 24 miles away, Ascot with its famous Racecourse 22 miles away and Royal Windsor is 29 miles away.
