Ideal for exploring South Devon with its stunning coastline, and resorts such as Dawlish and Teignmouth. Rugged Dartmoor is only a short drive, and many family attractions are within easy reach including National Trust-owned Castle Drogo, Fingle Bridge, the Teign Gorge, and Canonteign Falls and Country Park. The properties are within 10 miles of the old cathedral city of Exeter, with its many varied attractions including a racecourse, shopping, antique shops, guided tours and a host of summer festivals. A selection of detached homely holiday bungalows in landscaped grounds, set in a quiet wooded valley and divided by the River Seaton that flows from high up on the moor and down through the beautiful grounds of Rosecraddoc. This is an ideal rural location to tour the whole of Cornwall, south Devon and Dartmoor. South east Cornwall has some of the best and most varied countryside in the whole of the south west of England, from the mists of Bodmin Moor, the creeks and valleys of the rivers to the secluded coves, sandy beaches and rocky outcrops of the coastline in the south. A 15-minute drive will take you to the spectacular South Cornwall Coastline and the famous fishing town of Looe. Just along the coast from Looe nestles the tiny fishing village of Polperro, with its harbour and narrow streets. There is a network of footpaths which pass through some of the most scenic countryside in the district, one of which leads directly from the village.

The city of Plymouth is just 18 miles and is home to the award-winning National Marine Aquarium. Our mild winters ensure that many plants are able to thrive in Cornwall. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are both within 25 miles. There are many historic houses to visit close by including Cotehele, Lanhydrock and Antony. There is horse riding nearby, and golf courses within 20 miles include the ’course that Jack built’ at St Mellion, Looe Bindown and Lanhydrock. Liskeard sports a leisure centre with swimming pool, squash, indoor bowling, badminton and fitness suite. From Liskeard train station you can take the lovely branch line which runs down to Looe through the wooded East Looe Valley. Nearby Siblyback Lake offers windsurfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and fishing. Mount Edgcumbe Park with its 800 acres of parkland located on the Tamar estuary is also well worth a visit. The cosy and inviting home-from-home that is Tomfields Cottage is situated on Kingsley Moor in the beautiful surroundings of the Staffordshire Moorlands. A mere stone’s throw away is the Peak District National Park which makes it the perfect location to explore one of the most picturesque parts of the country and to enjoy a wide variety of visitor attractions. This welcoming semi-detached holiday cottage, adjacent to the owner’s farmhouse but with its private garden, enjoys uninterrupted countryside views as far as the eye can see! Hollins Lane is alongside the property and is perfect for a leisurely country walk, especially for any four-legged friends.
The scenic Churnet Valley has steam trains, wildlife reserves, and miles of splendid walking trails, through unspoilt woodlands, across rolling green fields and along the Cauldon Canal towpath which also follows the heritage railway line and River Churnet. The Roaches towering over the Market Town of Leek, provide spectacular views of Tittesworth Reservoir and the surrounding countryside. Well worth a visit is beautiful Dovedale, well-known for its stepping stones, and nearby Ilam Park and Gardens where you can relax after a long walk or have a lovely picnic.
Local attractions in the area are Alton Towers Theme Park, Splash Landings & Crazy Golf. The Trentham Estate and its award-winning gardens, with retail therapy to be enjoyed at its shopping village and garden centre, and the Monkey Forest is an absolute must! At Peak Wildlife Park come face-to-face with meerkats, penguins, alpacas, and polar bears!!! Stoke-on-Trent, known as ‘The Potteries’ has a few original bottle oven kilns remaining, some can be seen at the Gladstone Pottery Museum, home to Channel 4’s ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’. Other ceramic attractions are The World of Wedgwood Museum and Emma Bridgewater Factory.
Golf, fishing, sailing, and horse trekking opportunities are all possible nearby. Enjoy the Manifold and Tissington trails, where cycle hire is available. Foxtail Barn wedding venue is a mere 5-minute drive away. Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock and Castleton, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Shugborough Hall are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.

With so much available on site, it may be hard to tear yourself away from The Paddocks. The small fishing lake offers carp from 6lbs to 8lbs, roach, rudd and tench for just £3 per person per day, and there is also a seasonal shop, bar and restaurant too. This makes for a great family base from which to explore the area and, better still, it is just 8 miles from the coast which is an AONB. These well presented, single-storey barn conversions at Barney (refs: 30953, 30954 and 30955) offer comfortable and relaxing accommodation whether you plan to unwind and get away from it all or emerse yourself in the multitude of activities that this area has to offer.

Close by lies Blakeney with its picturesque quay and quaint tradition of crabbing. This offers a great gateway to the wider Norfolk coastline with beaches that are great for sun-worshipping on, walking along and even bird watching. Boat trips can be taken to the seal colony and Blakeney Point Nature Island, and you are just 10 minutes from the beautiful market town of Holt. Within 15-20 minutes you will also find the Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, Thursford Collection and its Christmas Spectacular, Stody Lodge Gardens, RSPB at Cley Marshes, North Norfolk Railway, as well as the stunning seaside towns of Wells-next-the-Sea and Sheringham. Leisure pool and cinema in Fakenham. Within 30-40 minutes you will also find the NT properties, Sandringham, Holkham, with its famous beach, Houghton and Blickling, as well as Burnham Market, the seaside town of Cromer with its pier and other attractions, including Amazona Zoo.

The cottages are available to enjoy as single units or you can interconnect all three barns (refs: 30953, 30954 and 30955) for parties of 10, 12 or 16, so it’s perfect if you are travelling as a large group too! Within a 5-minute walk there is a shop, restaurant and bar, and on site are fishing, a children’s play area, large chess sets and a variety of games, as well as a pool table and table tennis. Situated on the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and approximately 18 miles to Sidmouth and the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, these semi-detached bungalows (refs 23955 and W43778) are both well-presented and have large lawned gardens making them excellent family holiday homes. They can be booked independently or together to accommodate up to 10 guests and provide a delightful place to unwind and relax away from the pressures of modern living. The owners can provide a wheelchair, ramp and a 3-wheel walker on request. They are within easy reach of the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, Taunton and Honiton. Within easy driving there is much to enjoy, with days out at perhaps a historical house such as Barrington Court (National Trust), Forde Abbey and Gardens, Montacute House and the imposing Dunster Castle. For family entertainment, an exciting day out at the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, the West Somerset Steam Fair for a trip back in time, or for the younger ones in the family, you will love Crealy Adventure Park, near Exeter. The Blackdown Hills themselves offer some superb country walking, wildlife, flying for the adventurous at Dunkeswell or simply enjoy the many local village pubs to wine and dine in. A little further afield, visit the Jurassic Coast, moving on to Dorset, Lyme Regis and Cheddar Gorge and Caves, or even Bath with its many restaurants, shops and museums. Pleasant towns and pretty villages dot the area – the historic market town of Barnard Castle lies within easy reach, and boasts castle remains overlooking the town, as well as the Bowes Museum. Built as an impressive French-style chateau, the museum houses a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art. Other places of interest are Raby Castle, the ruins of Egglestone Abbey and Rokeby Hall. Hexham (with stately abbey) is a good day trip out, as well as the splendid cathedral city of Durham, 15 miles. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.
The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together.
Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt.
Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features.
Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape.
Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside.
Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn.
The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm.
Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding each week day morning, where you may help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day.
Guests have free use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make free use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Please note, the pool is not available during August due to overcrowding, and entertainment is not available November-March (except during school holidays).
