The small, rural village of Tansley is peacefully situated in the Derbyshire Dales, just 2 miles from Matlock and is home to two welcoming pubs and several colourful garden centres. The county town of Matlock is just 2 miles away and was popular from 1698 until 1950 for its warm springs that provided water therapy to travellers from near and far. Today the town provides a host of fine eateries, good shops, a fascinating museum and at the heart of the town, Leys Hall Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities including bowls, mini golf, tennis, boating and a children’s play area. Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge.
The nearby High Peak Cycle Trail provides a wonderful experience, whilst the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are within easy reach. A wonderful location for all the family.

Centrally located in the High Peak market town of Glossop with easy access to all the town’s amenities, this terraced cottage provides comfortable holiday accommodation which is well placed for exploring all that the area has to offer, including the stunning Peak District National Park. This charming terraced cottage is located opposite Manor Park which was once part of Glossop Hall and today is one of the area’s most popular parks with landscaped garden, lake, tennis courts and children’s play area. Families will also enjoy the caverns located around the spa town of Buxton, the mining museum and mines at Matlock, 32 miles, and Cannon Hall Farm at Cawthorne, 22 miles. There are also several show caves around Castleton, 15 miles. For those who prefer all the facilities that a big city has to offer, Manchester is just 15 miles away. Popular attractions in and around the city include Old Trafford, the Trafford Centre, Chill Factor and the Airkix indoor skydiving. National Trust properties are within easy driving distance include Lyme Park which was used as the location for BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, 12 miles, and Chatsworth is 27 miles. The Peak District town of Holmfirth, 13 miles, used as the setting for TVs ‘Last of the summer Wine’ and ‘Where the Heart is’ is also worth a visit. Situated on the end of a row of three and boasting stunning countryside views to the rear, Tree Tops is located on the edge of Youlgreave village and enjoys a patio area that catches the sun well in the evening. Built on a ridge between the Lathkill and Bradford Rivers, Youlgreave is one of the larger Peak District villages, with the narrow village street running for about one and a half miles. Served by a variety of pubs and a couple of shops, it makes a great base for outdoor enthusiasts and sightseers alike with walks available direct from the door in the Lathkill and Bradford Dales. The market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, Matlock and Wirksworth with their variety of attractions, shops, coffee shops and restaurants are all available within a 30 minute drive. For the history enthusiasts, the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are around 15 minutes away. The Monsal Trail for traffic-free cycling can also be reached in around 15 minutes, and for those bigger thrill seekers, Alton Towers in around 45 minutes.

This holiday property is in a great location for exploring the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Peak District, and the fabulous market town of Ashbourne, with its quirky antique shops and many bespoke coffee shops and restaurants. Ashbourne is known as the gateway to the Peak District National Park and is an ideal base to visit many attractions, including Alton Towers, 8 miles.
There are so many places to visit in the Peak District that one visit may not be enough. Interesting market towns offer very different attractions. Visit Bakewell and its museum to learn more about the Bakewell Elephant, or the spa town of Buxton with its opera house.
Castleton and its amazing show caves, Blue John mines and cliff top Peveril Castle is worth the trip, and no visit to the Peak District would be complete without a day spent at fabulous Chatsworth House and Gardens, with waterfall cascade and the Emperor Fountain reaching heights of 300ft!
