Tucked away in the heart of the mid-Devon countryside lies Hazelnut Lodge. With views over surrounding fields to the countryside beyond, this is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and quiet. Located in the grounds of the owner’s smallholding, there is a private drive leading down to the property. Skirted by the private woods, there is a large garden and sitting-out area. The spacious open plan living space is complimented by an inviting bedroom with its super kingsize bed. Patio doors lead from the living area onto the patio giving further access to a decking area for dining al fresco. Hazelnut Lodge is a comfortable base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer. Exeter is easily reached, and has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and, of course, its historic cathedral. Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are accessible and provide walking for all abilities and stunning scenery. There are a number of National Trust properties in the area, most notably Castle Drogo and Arlington Court. Also within easy reach (20 miles) is Powderham Castle. This remarkable 14th century castle, set in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, has been home to the same family since 1391. Visitors are encouraged to explore the picturesque gardens, discover the interior beauty of the castle and to take part in some of the events which are held throughout the year. The wonderful RHS gardens at Rosemoor and the Dartington Crystal Factory are worth a visit and both these attractions are based at Great Torrington. There is golf, fishing and horse riding available in the local area and cycle hire can be arranged on the Tarka Trail at various locations. Shop 3 miles, pub 1¼ miles and restaurant 5 miles.

Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. Located within the pretty village of Sticklepath at Dartmoor National Park in West Devon, this charming two-bedroom country cottage comfortably accommodates up to four guests. Walk out the front door straight into the Devon countryside.
This beautiful cottage is well furnished throughout and offers a welcoming open plan living space on the ground floor in which you can get cosy in front of the wood burner, or sit around the dining table with a delicious meal that has been cooked in the well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with all the key appliances such as an electric oven, electric hob, microwave, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/ freezer, and a Nespresso coffee pod machine.
With your own patio area at the back of the cottage with a table and chairs and a charcoal barbeque, you can sit and soak up those holiday feelings with a glass of your favourite tipple. There is also a handy storage shed for bicycles. Muddy and exhausted dogs can be washed off comfortably in the courtyard using the hose with outdoor hot and cold water taps. Relax and unwind in front of the cosy woodburning stove.
Head upstairs to two comfortable bedrooms, both offering zip and link king-size beds which can be split into two 2ft 6in singles on request.

Enjoy the 11 miles of traffic-free route which The Granite Way offers, stretching from Okehampton to Lydford winding through some of the most stunning Dartmoor countryside and moorland. The National Cycle Route 27, the Wray Valley Trail, The Camel Trail and Drakes Trail are also within easy reach. For fun days out visit Buckland Abbey, Lydford Gorge, Canonteign Falls, Castle Drogo, The National Aquarium in Plymouth, and Dartmoor Zoo.

Surrounded by some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, with Dartmoor and the lovely rolling hills of Devon on your doorstep, Barwick is also within easy reach of the coast. This spacious property has the benefit of a large open plan living space downstairs and an additional sitting room upstairs, complete with a balcony so you can take in the glorious countryside views.
Barwick sits on the edge of the lovely village of Exbourne with an inn serving meals and local ales, an eco-friendly, underground shop, post office and historic church. Approximately 100 yards from the property, there is a lovely playpark for the children to enjoy. The local town has a cinema, supermarkets, castle, museum and a variety of restaurants. The property is just 6 miles from the breathtaking Dartmoor National Park, where you can see Dartmoor ponies, beautiful landscapes, quaint villages, castles, culture, and an altogether slower pace of life. You can settle down at a pub, or find an idyllic spot to enjoy a picnic whilst taking in the spectacular scenery. Meldon Reservoir is just 8 miles away and offers fishing, water sports and lovely lakeside walks. The pretty towns of Okehampton and Tavistock are close by, and there are also many beautiful gardens including RHS Rosemoor and The Lost Gardens of Heligan within easy reach. Devon and Cornwall offer fantastic coastal walking and boast sandy beaches and hidden coves, ideal for surfing or exploring the many rock pools. Fishing, tennis, horse riding, pony trekking and an 18-hole golf course are all close by. Located just outside the village of Beaford, there is also a local pub within walking distance.
North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.
Beaford House is also a registered wedding venue and as well as the large house, there is also access to a great, well equipped function room should you decide to spend your big day here. Shop 5 miles, pub ¾ mile.

These properties are are situated in 10½ acres of unspoilt natural grounds on the edge of Dartmoor. All three barn conversions are set in a row in a courtyard setting, close to the owner’s home, smallholding and 5-pitch certified caravan site. The holiday properties are eco-friendly with solar panels, air source heat pumps and an environmentally-friendly hot water system. Walkers can explore Dartmoor, spot wild ponies, cross ancient stone bridges spanning the River Dart, and admire the Tors. Visit Castle Drogo, Lydford Gorge, Buckfast Abbey, Torbay, Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles. Exeter, with its stunning cathedral, is a short drive. A nature trail and cycle route can be found on the Forestry Commission land, 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. If you are looking for adventure and an adrenalin rush, then Wheeldon Farm Cottages will not disappoint. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
