Accessed by a rough track, and with the owner living adjacent, detached Tan Y Castell is a 5-minute drive from the boutique market town of Narberth which is aptly twinned with Ludlow. Several art galleries and antique shops can be found here, as well as the former town hall that still houses the cell where the leaders of the Rebecca Riots were imprisoned; superb dining using fresh local produce can also be enjoyed here. Further south is Folly Farm, voted one of Wales’ top attractions, along with the Blue Lagoon Water Park and Oakwood Theme Park, all within 10 minutes’ drive. From this charming property located in the heart of Pembrokeshire, it is easy to discover the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park coastline and the glorious coves and beaches that west Wales has to offer, along with the famous walled town of Tenby and its sandy beach not to be missed.

Enjoy a number of beautiful countryside walks from your doorstep and take in the remains of Wiston Castle with sublime views across the county. In the nearby village of Llawhaden you can take a step back in time to impressive Llawhaden Castle again offering amazing views and trip back in time. Take a 5-minute drive to the small village of Clarbeston Road, offering a traditional Welsh pub serving meals and local ales or Narberth around a 15 minutes’ drive and offers a plethora of eateries specialising in locally sourced produce, boutique and antique shops all waiting to be discovered.
    The hub of the house is a large open plan living space with glass bi-folding doors giving stunning views bringing the outside in. These lead onto a spacious patio area which is perfect for catching the sunshine with a glass of wine after a busy day of sightseeing. The kitchen offers the perfect space to cook up a storm to celebrate that special occasion with a modern contemporary feel throughout, there’s even the added luxury of an ice and water dispenser in the fridge to help you cool down on those warmer days. On an evening you can relax in front of the focal wood burner or catch the game on TNT Sports, or perhaps soak in the free-standing slipper bath before retiring to your bedroom. Each room has been finished to a high standard and really does offer excellent levels of comfort and space throughout with the master bedroom having the added luxury of a rainforest shower. For those who may be less mobile, a purpose built aluminium ramp to aid with access into the property is available on request. For pets, there is an external, warm water shower hose.
    A great day out for your family is the famous walled town of Tenby, compete with its fantastic beach, cobbled streets and picture postcard harbour. Just a 30-minute drive away, here you can also take a boat trip fishing or to Caldey Island to see the Cistercian monks of Caldey Abbey. A visit to Wild Lakes Wakeboard Park (15 mins from Lodge) is highly recommended; the giant inflatable obstacle course in the middle of the lake is fantastic fun for all the family. The beaches at Newgale and Broadhaven are within a 30-minute drive and offer surfing and canoe hire, whilst marros Stables offer beach horse riding. Clerkenhill Adventure Park is a 10-minute drive, Carew Castle is a 20-minute drive and Pembroke Castle is a 30-minute drive. Hangar 5 offers a large indoor trampoline park and a soft play area, perfect for those rainy days, and is only 15 minutes away, and 20 minutes away you can explore Folly Farm Zoo. There are a variety of outward bound activity companies which offer exhilarating boat trips and activities such as coasteering. For those keen fisherman Holgan Farm fishery is a 10 minutes drive. The city of St David’s is a 40-minute drive with its majestic cathedral. Beach 12 miles. Shop 6½ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    This property is a fascinating old Pembrokeshire farmhouse with part dating back to the 17th century. Rich in period interest with an inglenook fireplace, natural stone walls, some low doors, open beams and an oak staircase.     During the 2022 season the property was not let while substantial refurbishment was undertaken. In doing this work great attention has been paid to maintain the essential character and charm of the property whist providing the everyday comforts expected by the modern family.


    There are two welcoming living rooms with comfortable sofas and wood burners. There are plenty of books, jigsaws, and games to keep you entertained. The large kitchen/diner has a wood burner in the inglenook, a large farmhouse table with country chairs and an old pine sideboard giving it a charming rustic air. There is a stone serving hatch through to a well-appointed kitchen.


    Bring your dogs on holiday with you (up to 3 well-behaved dogs welcome) and enjoy the enclosed garden behind the property, as well as the glorious wildflower meadow shared with views towards Newgale and St Brides Bay.


    The owners’ family live in a converted granary/dairy across what was previously the farm courtyard.


    The pretty Pembrokeshire village of Solva is just 5 miles away. Here you’ll find an excellent general store and Post Office with an off licence also selling papers. More extensive shopping can be found in the county town of Haverfordwest 10 miles away - from banks, supermarkets and chemists to a bakery and interesting independent shops. There is also a filling station, doctors, and vet.


    Newgale Beach is just over 3 miles away from the farmhouse, with it golden sands it’s beloved by surfers and kite surfers - wet suits and boards can be hired - and you can join the coastal footpath in either direction from here, exploring the flower decked cliffs as you go. For outdoor adventurers and nature lovers there is plenty to do - a myriad of pursuits and interests for all ages are to be found in this area famed for water sports, seafood, coves, harbours, and the unique Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park.
