Both bedrooms offer the flexibility of zip and link twin beds which can be made into super kingsize beds (on request). The owners have thoughtfully provided complimentary toiletries should you forget your own!
Bring your bucket and spade as the glorious sandy beach at Morfa Dyffryn is just a mile down the road and offers superb views over to the Rhinog Mountains. For the more adventurous, Zip World and Bounce Below at Blaenau Ffestiniog are a thrill seekers delight, whilst the famous Ffestiniog Railway and mighty Harlech Castle are also well worth a visit. From Barmouth, why not hire a bike and cycle across Barmouth Bridge and along the Mawddach Trail to Penmaenpool and Dolgellau? Beach 1 mile. Shops 300 yards, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

Set on the edge of Abergynolwyn, a village that lies in the shadows of Cader Idris and situated between the popular seaside resort of Tywyn and market town Dolgellau, this beautiful detached barn conversion provides spacious accommodation, ideal for families wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Tywyn is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and holds the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. Nearby Tal-y-llyn lake and Talyllyn steam railway are always popular with visitors, as are the sandy beaches along Cardigan Bay. Some visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. Other places to visit are Birds Rock, Castell y Bere, Dolgoch Falls Walk, Aberdovey, Corris slate mines and craft centres. The location is also great for easy access into Snowdonia. There are many beaches to explore in the area, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Just down the road you’ll find the blue flag Dinas Dinlle Beach, with wonderful views across the bay to Anglesey. Porthdinllaen is also nearby and is home to the famous Ty Coch Inn, once voted in the top ten best beach bars in the world!

Caernarfon Castle, an imposing UNESCO World Heritage site is only a short drive away. You’re within easy reach of, Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway. There’s also Glasfryn park with many activities to be found here, from go-karting, archery, crazy golf, and many water sports to name a few. There’s something for all ages in this diverse region and it would certainly be a break to remember, and without a doubt you’ll want to return.

Further down the coast you’ll find Criccieth and Harlech, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway. There’s so much on offer in this diverse region whatever your interest. On-site there is storage for kayaks, paddle boards and bikes, along with ample parking for any jet skis or boats. A North Wales holiday cottage almost straight from a children’s story book and set in a magical location surrounded by woodland. Bird boxes and feeders around the cottage ensure birdsong throughout the year; nuthatches, nesting blue tits and even woodpeckers can be seen feeding. In Snowdonia National Park you can discover breathtaking mountain and coastal scenery, steam trains, excellent local produce, fascinating industrial heritage and exhilarating adventure activities. Fairbourne and Barmouth are a pleasant drive away, with miles of golden sands at Barmouth and a smaller sandy beach at Fairbourne. Drive down to the lovely seaside resort of Aberdovey with candy-coloured houses, a long uncrowded beach and seaside atmosphere.

Here there are pubs, cafés, the worlds steepest street, as verified by Guinness World Records in 2019, and a spectacular sandy beach. Golfing can also be enjoyed at Royal St David’s. This nationally and internationally renowned golf course has stunning views of the historic Harlech Castle and is ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the world. Explore the coastline using the Cambrian Coast railway line, visit Porthmadog, home to the famous Ffestiniog Railway, or nearby Portmeirion, whilst the quarry town of Blaenau Ffestiniog now has plenty to attract visitors with Zipworld and Bounce Below providing thrills for all the family. Porthdinllaen beach is also nearby, home to a popular beach side inn, once voted in the top ten best beach bars in the world. Fashionable Abersoch, is a short drive and boasts a pretty harbour and excellent water sports facilities. The Snowdonia National Park, with its dramatic mountain scenery is close by, along with many castles, the Italianate village of Portmeirion and narrow-gauge steam train.

Tyn Y Maen is a welcoming, comfortable property with a large garden, and benefits from an outdoor utility which has an additional shower and storage for bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. The living room has a large inglenook fireplace with cosy log burner, and doors leading out onto the large garden area. There are three bedrooms and a family bathroom, along with a well-equipped kitchen/dining area.

Caernarfon, with its magnificent castle and a fine selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, is just 15 minutes drive away, and is also the start of the Welsh Highland Railway for scenic journeys into the heart of Snowdonia. The popular beaches of Dinas Dinlle and Llanfairfechan are only 20 minutes’ drive away. Tyn Y Maen is a perfect location for relaxing winter escapes and summer beach holidays.

To the rear of the property there is a stepped garden area with stunning views over Aberglaslyn valley, a lovely peaceful space to relax in the picturesque village of Beddgelert which has an abundance of walks surrounded by impressive scenery. The village itself is steeped in history and folk lore. Sygun copper mine is just down the road and is well worth a visit for all ages. The area is considered the adventure capital of Wales and there are an abundance of opportunities for climbing, hiking, walking, cycling and water sports available. You can also ride a steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon and nearby Porthmadog.
