For golfers there are plenty of courses, including a championship course in Blairgowrie itself, as well as internationally famous Gleneagles, St Andrews and Carnoustie further afield. In winter the ski slopes at Glenshee are within easy reach and the cities of Perth, Dundee or Edinburgh make good days out.     Step outside and the local pub, cafés and restaurants are a few minutes’ walk away. If you’re planning to cook, the village is known for its quality local butcher, greengrocer, baker and deli, and there is also a small supermarket. The whole area is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast and boasts many walks right from the front door, as well as cycle routes on quiet track to explore. Nearby Lochearn offers water sports. If you like a round of golf on holiday there is a local 9-hole course and many others in the area, including the championship courses at Gleneagles.
    A little further afield Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre appeals to all ages, and is home to great fly-fishing ponds. The tourist town of Crieff is only a 7-mile drive, with a famous whisky distillery, visitor’s centre and historic buildings. Drummond Castle makes for a superb day out, dating back to the 17th century and sitting amidst stunning gardens which were used in the filming of the epic TV series ‘Outlander’. Stirling and Perth are only 25 miles away. Renovated in 2021 to a high standard while maintaining character and charm, this traditional semi-detached stone cottage makes a welcoming and comfortable holiday home at any time of year. The cottage is entered by a small porch into the living/dining room with a wood burner, comfortable seating and dining table. The bright kitchen is fitted with modern appliances and a breakfast bar, well-equipped for preparing a meal. A handy utility room leads to the large shower room, with a glass-screened walk-in shower. On the first floor are two well-presented bedrooms, the main bedroom with a kingsize bed and the second bedroom with twin beds.

    Tayberry Cottage is set back from the main street in a quiet location. Whilst we welcome up to two well behaved dogs, please be aware the cottage has no outdoor space available for pet use, however Victoria Park is only 5 minutes’ walk. We’re not able to offer scenic views but the cottage makes up for this with location and charm. A great selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a traditional high street with butchers, bakers and supermarkets, delis and galleries all within a few minutes’ walk. The community run local cinema has an up-to-date programme and is just a short walk from your door. The River Tay passes through the town and there are walks in all directions up into the hills or along the riverside; The Birks of Aberfeldy is a good family walk following a waterfall.

    A short drive takes you to the village of Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay, which has shingle beach and breath-taking views down the loch. There are water sports, loch cruises, a friendly local shop and post office, a café, a deli, restaurants and the oldest Inn in Scotland. Croft na Caber Centre, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water, is ideal for all ages.

    The area is well known for outdoor activities, with walking and climbing opportunities - the energetic can attempt Ben Lawers (Perthshire’s highest mountain). At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, quad biking, cycling and wildlife spotting. To explore further afield, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Aviemore and Perth make great days out.
