A little further past here you can cross the causeway and visit Holy Island for a step back in time experience.     Alnwick is only 15 minutes away with its majestic castle used in some harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes, a great experience for both adults and children. Look around the small town exploring the cobbled streets and shops. The beaches up the Northumberland Coast AONB remain unspoilt and underpopulated so there is always a place to find some seclusion should you wish, Cresswell and Druridge Bay beaches remain isolated most of the time and are only a short drive south. For Harry Potter fans, a visit to Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, is 10 miles and is a popular tourist destination in the historic town of Alnwick with its cobbled streets. Alnmouth railway station is only a few miles, and from here you can catch the East Coast train up to Edinburgh or down to Newcastle or York for day trips to remember.
