Nestling in beautiful grounds, the lodge has outside terraces and secret gardens, perfect for relaxing and taking in the sounds of the birds and the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
Inside it is charming and quirky. The open plan living space and dining area are perfect for that special get-together with friends or family. There is a large wood burner for the cooler nights, with comfy sofas to curl up on. Décor is as you would expect of a lodge, with wooden floors and panelling, tartans and checks and it has a wonderful homely feel to it. Comfortably catering for up to six people, with a well-equipped shaker style kitchen and modern appliances. Should you wish to rustle up brunch or a hearty supper. Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms with king size, super king and twin beds. The kingsize bedroom has doors leading out onto a spacious decked balcony where you can sit and enjoy views of the gardens and beyond. A large bathroom with sumptuous underfloor heating completes this floor. Outside is where the fun begins. Find a quiet spot to read a book, or set the table and enjoy an al fresco supper. Steps lead off into a secluded garden with fruit trees and benches to sit and a raised pergola, a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass of bubbly. The garden opens up into a paddock and the most amazing wall to wall views of the Tyne Valley and North Cumbrian Fells. An elevated decking area sits in the farthest spot with uninterrupted views of the countryside beyond. As night draws in, take a warm throw to wrap up and sit and experience the amazing starry skies above Northumberland.
Out and about this is a fabulous place to explore with so much to see and do. Set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland and the Lake District National Park, which is just an hour away. Nearby you can discover the Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. Also within easy reach is Haltwhistle, which is the ‘Geographic Centre of Britain’, with sports centre and outdoor heated swimming pools, and Burn Gorge. A must visit is the historic market town of Hexham, which boasts a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country, and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the beautiful Roman town of Corbridge and meander round its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, stop for a coffee or take a stroll along the river. Locally there is an abundance of eateries to choose from. A nearby inn serving good food and ales offers astronomers a star gazing experience and is a 20-minute walk away, with nearby Haltwhistle, Bardon Mill and Hexham offering a range of pubs and restaurants. Glendale Cottage (ref W43490) and Glendale Mews (ref W43489) are the ideal spot for a relaxing and peaceful holiday in beautiful natural surroundings. There is an indoor, heated swimming pool which guests can hire for private use (at cost), and also the use of over 11 acres of natural woodland and grounds that form part of this beautiful location. The owners live on-site in the original period farmhouse, accessed via a driveway lined with rhododendrons through a small dense wood. There is a small wooded picnic and play area with a log cabin function room and a large charcoal BBQ, as well as another wooded area accommodating hens and a natural pond. There is access to a public footpath from the properties.
Located on the southern edge of the Northumberland National Park and inside the International Dark Skies Park, Glendale is easily found on the B6318 just north of Haltwhistle.
Perfect for guests who enjoy walking, rambling or cycling, these properties are within walking distance of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, and are situated centrally between Walltown Craggs and Cawfield’s picnic area, two of the most picturesque views along the wall. Just a little further along are the Roman remains and museums of Vindolanda and Housesteads as well as Steel Rigg, Sycamore Gap and the Visitor Centre at Once Brewed (The Sill), which offers charging, points for electric vehicles.
Many other activities are available locally, including birdwatching, horse riding, tennis, golf, fishing and open air swimming. Glendale is perfectly placed for easy access to many other historical Roman sites, forts and temples, the National Nature Reserves of Muckle Moss and Greenlee Lough, and the spectacular Kielder Forest and Reservoir offering a variety of sailing and water sports. Northumberland is a county of wild open spaces, unspoilt and breathtaking.
For those guests wishing to explore further afield, within an hour’s drive there is Carlisle, Gateway to Scotland and the Lake District, the historic town of Hexham, and fabulous shopping at the Metrocentre, Gateshead, as well as Newcastle city with its regenerated riverside, shopping, theatres and nightlife.

Tile Sheds is a detached cottage situated on a 300 acre mixed working farm. The accommodation benefits from being all on ground floor level and is deceptively spacious throughout. The living room boasts a superb wood burner to snuggle in front of after a day exploring the miles of stunning vistas Northumberland is renowned for. The farmhouse kitchen has an American style fridge/freezer, newly fitted units and although there is the added convenience a modern electric oven and hob, there is also a large AGA to create a homely ambience. Three large double bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom complete the picture.
