Within walking distance is Llanfair Slate Caverns and Farm Park, just down the road brings you to the village of Harlech, perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop with its Edward I built castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here there are pubs, cafés, the worlds steepest street, as verified by Guinness World Records in 2019, and a spectacular sandy beach. Golfing can also be enjoyed at Royal St David’s. This nationally and internationally renowned golf course has stunning views of the historic Harlech Castle and is ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the world. Explore the coastline using the Cambrian Coast railway line, visit Porthmadog, home to the famous Ffestiniog Railway, or nearby Portmeirion, whilst the quarry town of Blaenau Ffestiniog now has plenty to attract visitors with Zipworld and Bounce Below providing thrills for all the family. This lovely detached holiday property is in a rural location, on the Llŷn Peninsula, and a private gate from the garden takes you down to the beautiful little Porth Colmon harbour and beach, where lobster and crab can be bought in season and occasional visitors include dolphins and seals. With the Llŷn Coastal Path just along the lane, it’s a great place for walkers. The property itself is spacious and boasts a large conservatory with views over fields to the sea, with bay windows replaced in 2021. Perfect for family seaside holidays and cosy winter escapes, Porthysgaden is a traditional Welsh, semi-detached farmhouse situated on the owner’s working sheep and beef farm and campsite in a beautiful rural setting on the Lleyn Peninsula. The farm has stunning views and is only a short walk to the lovely sandy beach of Towyn and also the secluded cove of Porthysgaden, which has a small public slipway and is a popular spot in Gwynedd for divers. There is also direct access from the farm onto the coastal path for fantastic walking opportunities, as well as miles of peaceful country lanes so perfect for exploring by bike.
This is an ideal location in this delightful corner of North Wales with the mountains of the Snowdonia National Park just a short drive away. Porthysgaden is also within easy reach of a myriad of family attractions and outdoor pursuits, as well as castles, narrow gauge railways and even boat trips around the small islands of Bardsey and St Tudwals. Morfa Nefyn, with its golf course and famous inn on the beach, is 2 miles away, whilst Aberdaron, fashionable Abersoch and lively and vibrant Pwllheli are all close by. Beach ¼ mile. Brig-y-Don is a spacious detached property, cleverly divided into two properties, which can be booked separately or both together if you have an extended family. The larger of the two, Brig-y-Don, sleeps six, and has a lovely kitchen/dining room with stunning views out over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay, and a spacious living room with a warming wood burner – ideal for relaxing in front of with a glass of wine. The smaller property, Brig-y-Don Bach, which is all on one level, has a separate entrance and a private patio to the side of the house. It’s ideal for couples or grandparents wanting to have their own space! Both properties share the fabulous rear garden each with their own seating area. The main part of the garden enjoys the glorious sea views, which are particularly gorgeous in the evenings as the sun sinks into the sea to the west. The garden is enclosed, so great if you’re taking your pooch with you! From the end of the garden, there’s a direct path which, in just a few minutes, takes you down over the railway crossing, and onto the sandy beach (don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!).
You can stroll along the promenade and into the town centre, where you’ll find a good selection of pubs, cafés and eateries, plus a lovely choice of individual shops. You can hire a bike and explore the scenic Mawddach Trail, which runs along the course of an old railway line through pretty Penmaenpool, all the way to the market town of Dolgellau. You can enjoy a trip on a steam train on the Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway or Ffestiniog Railway, all of which are nearby, or visit mighty Harlech Castle, perched on the cliff in the picturesque town of Harlech (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If adrenaline’s your thing, a visit to Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is a must. Here you’ll find the world’s largest zip wire zone, plus Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets and whizz down slides deep underground in an old slate cavern. Both properties are close for the beautiful Mawddach Estuary footpath and coastal trail/cycle path and direct access from the farm leads down to the golden sands of Fairbourne beach or across the Victorian bridge to Barmouth.

If you wish you can just relax, enjoy a spot of fishing nearby, or the more energetic can enjoy family walks in the idyllic scenery in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Snowdonia National Park. The family run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm with menage (arena) for lessons, and riders and complete beginners are catered for.
