Nestled within 90 acres of a beautiful part of the South Tyne valley, Kingfisher Cottage offers superior self-catering holiday accommodation for 8 guests, making it the perfect choice for an extended family or a small group.  With a wheelchair friendly ground floor twin bedroom with en-suite wet room facilities, Kingfisher Cottage is an ideal choice giving accessibility to all.
Kingfisher Cottage has recently benefitted from a full refurbishment and sits within a small cluster of barn conversions, which have been recently developed to create a small group of holiday cottages completed to an excellent standard.  Each property has oak flooring; is well-equipped with many modern appliances suitable for contemporary living and all are tastefully furnished throughout.  This complex sits in a very private setting and offers the additional bonus of being only 50 yards from the trout and salmon rich South Tyne River, where fishing is available on a pre booked basis for a fee dependent on month of the salmon season.

As you drive into the country and leave the hustle and bustle behind, you can really feel at one with nature in this beautiful place. Surrounded by farmland, grazing sheep in the fields and a wide variety of wildlife and birds. A real adventure ground for the children! Dating back to the 1800’s when the neighbouring mill was built, Burnside House has been in the family for five generations. Enjoying a tranquil spot with views across the stream of Willimotswick Castle, the birthplace of Bishop Ridley.
The cottage has been completely restored throughout in 2021 providing a comfortable and stylish holiday home. Inside the cottage, an open staircase separates the spacious living/dining room, tastefully decorated, with chesterfield sofas and chairs, two electric stoves set within inglenooks and large farmhouse table it’s a perfect social space. The newly installed kitchen and utility are well equipped with all the necessary appliances you will need throughout your stay. Upstairs the en-suite master bedroom looks out across the stream to the castle, with kingsize bed, dressing area and stylish furniture. Bedroom two can be a family room, with kingsize bed and additional pull out single available on request and suitable for a child. Bedroom three has three bespoke bunk style beds, the two lower beds suitable for adults…children will adore this room! There is a luxurious family bathroom with bath and shower over and an additional downstairs separate toilet. Outside the grounds extend down to the stream, a perfect spot to sit and relax, you might even spot a fish or two swim by! Beat a retreat to the patio where you can take a dip in the hot tub or sit and just take in the joys of the countryside. There is a covered shelter with lighting, table, and chairs for al fresco suppers or for some campfire fun, cosy up round the fire pit and watch the stars - you’ll certainly be undisturbed.
There are beautiful walks from the door. A 20-minute walk will take you across the river to the village of Bardon Mill with picnic area, coffee shop/general store, a hotel serving a varied menu including Thai meals and drinks. From here catch the train - you can be in Newcastle or Carlisle in under 45 minutes. Nearby Haltwhistle, geographically acknowledged as ’the Centre of Britain’ has many amenities including a supermarket, independent shops, restaurant, cocktail bar, a sports centre, and an outdoor swimming pool. The location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, visit the famous Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre, and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. Nearby the historic market town of Hexham with stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the Roman town of Corbridge with boutique shops, art galleries, antiques or take a stroll along the river. There is so much to see and do, Burnside Cottage makes a perfect holiday base.

Set within 7-acres of gardens and country parkland, shared with owners’ home, enjoy a variety of wildlife - you might spot otters, heron or the occasional deer! Chickens and ducks wander freely - a real escape to the country!
Black Bee Cottage offers beautiful spacious accommodation with a touch of luxury. Inside, the central hallway separates the ground floor bedroom on one side, tastefully decorated, with luxurious a kingsize bed. To the left side, a cosy snug with wood burning stove perfect for a late-night tipple or gathering for board games in front of the fire. The stylish lounge has vaulted ceilings with doors that open onto the garden. Comfortable sofas are arranged around a log burning stove set within the inglenook fireplace and Smart TV for your entertainment. The kitchen/diner is a great social space and superbly equipped to cater for a larger group or special occasion. Open plan with beautiful glass ceiling lantern making this a light and sunny room. To the first floor a master bedroom with superb super kingsize four poster bed, log burning stove, walk-in wardrobe and doors that open onto a small balcony area. There is an extended dressing area which can accommodate a cot for baby. The family bathroom is on this floor with luxury slipper bath and double shower. To the top floor two loft style bedrooms both double with a jack and jill shower room. Outside, enjoy a dip in the hot tub, or sit and just take in the joys of the lovely garden and countryside. Take a stroll across the bridge there is a beautiful country park and wildlife. Please note there is an unfenced pond here and children must be supervised at all times.
Linztford makes a perfect base to explore our fabulous local attractions. Perfect for walkers and cyclists, the Derwent walk and C2C is nearby. The National Trust site at Gibside is 3 miles, take a step back in time at Beamish the Living Museum of the North (8 miles), or head further north to Hadrian’s Wall and visit the Sill discovery centre and Roman fort at Vindolanda (30 miles). The cosmopolitan City of Newcastle (10 miles) with a host of shops and restaurants and galleries. Harbour Lodge is idyllically situated only 100 yards from the harbour of Amble,’known locally as ’the friendliest port’. Nestled at the end of a stone built terrace, Harbour Lodge and its neighbouring property were added in recent years. The spacious entrance hall leads to a very well equipped kitchen/dining room on the ground floor boasting quality wood units with many integral appliances. The large wooden chapel doors open to reveal a big hallway with a couple of rooms leading off to the sides. You come to a useful study room first which offers a little privacy or peace, and the opposite is a utility room providing the perfect place to dry and feed the dog, dry wet coats after a busy day’s walking in the Lakes. A second set of doors opens into an impressive, Instagram-worthy living space, with high vaulted ceilings, large leaded windows, and oak beams.
Once you catch your breath, you can take in the large kitchen with all the amenities and space required to cater anything from a simple sandwich to a family feast.
