These two lodges, each with a hot tub on the decking, offer differently-styled accommodation for groups of eight. Ideal for holidays or visiting the two large wedding venues nearby in Otterburn. Leafy Run (ref W44043) is a contemporary-style lodge with a hot tub and a peaceful decked area. Reiver’s Rest (ref UKC3402) was completely renovated in 2018, with a private hot tub on the raised south-facing decking and backs onto the woodland in the top corner of the park, with walks from the door. With a fully renovated restaurant on site, the lodges are less than a mile from the centre of the village of Otterburn, on the very edge of the Northumberland National Park. The park is just inside the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the largest in Europe, ideal for stargazers and astronomers. The village has a mill shop, and the shop/café sells local produce. A highly acclaimed wedding venue, Le Petit Château is easily accessed only a mile away and guests can enjoy staying in the lodges and having some downtime after the wedding. The long wooded drive up to the park sets the scene for your break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A perfect base for couples or families to explore the Northumberland National Park, Kielder Forest, observatory, and the Scottish Borders. Situated 16 miles from the border counties, outdoor enthusiasts will love this location which is a favourite with walkers and adventure seekers. Bellingham is close by and has a choice of tea rooms, pubs, and village shops. A day trip to Alnwick, with its famous castle, and the Northumberland Heritage Coast, which is peppered with castles and beaches, make for fine days out. Hadrian’s Wall is only a few miles away and is steeped in history, with Roman forts and museums along the way. Hexham and Rothbury are easily accessible and have plenty of pubs and shops. Nearby the ducal town of Alnwick with the grand castle used in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, make a lovely day out. From Warkworth it is easy to explore the whole of the Heritage Coastline taking in the many friendly unspoilt villages along the way. Stop at one of the glorious sandy beaches or drop into Craster for some famous Craster kippers. Don’t miss a trip over to Holy Island, checking the tide for the causeway times. Set in lovely countryside, this comfortable and spacious detached holiday home, mainly all on the ground floor, lies in a quiet area next to the owner’s state-of-the-art equestrian centre. Only 2 minutes from the A697 yet set in open countryside with beautiful views and walks from the doorstep, with the Devils Causeway crossing the field by the property. The lovely conservatory, with its seating area and countryside views, is an ideal place in which to wind down after a busy day out. There is a 90 square metre fully enclosed area in the garden for dogs. The cottage is in a great location to explore the many visitor attractions in Northumberland. Alnwick Castle is only 14½ miles away and featured in the Harry Potter films, so will delight children and adults alike. Rothbury is only 8½ miles away with a good selection of pubs and cafés, and pretty riverside. The National Trust’s property, Cragside, should not be missed while you’re visiting Rothbury. The coast is only 14½ miles at Druridge Bay and Otterburn is 22 miles where you can travel into the acclaimed Dark Sky National Park, and perhaps include a visit to Kielder as well. The small village of Longhorsely has a village shop and pub and is only 2¼ miles away. The pretty and historic town of Morpeth is only 9 miles with plenty of pubs and shops as well as a swimming pool and riverside rowing boats. Beach 13 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2¼ miles.

Inglenook is located in the centre of Backbarrow in the South Lakes peninsula, a perfect base from which to visit many popular attractions in the Lake District. A short drive away is Newby Bridge. This popular area is home to the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake cruises.

The ’upside down’ house offers a large games room with football table, pool table, sofa and TV on the ground floor. The spacious master bedroom is also on the ground floor with a separate shower room. On the first floor is the open plan dining and kitchen area, a separate living room with a large multi-fuel burner taking centre stage, and fantastic views overlooking the river. A short drive away is the traditional village of Cartmel, famous for its horse racing weekends and also its sticky toffee pudding. This quirky village is definitely worth a visit. Whilst exploring this area you are close to Grange-over sands, a Victorian seaside town with many shops and cafés to enjoy. South Lakes Safari Zoo is also within easy reach and worth a visit.

Backbarrow is the perfect base to explore the lakes, whether you are planning to enjoy walking a few of the 214 Wainwrights fells, cycling the fantastic roads around here or driving over to many other popular towns around Cumbria including Ulverston, Ambleside, Coniston, Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, then you really are spoilt for choice! Beadnell Bay can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air. Two miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands – famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony – depart regularly from its harbour. Here there are several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops with horse-riding; fishing and golf on the links close by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – the birthplace of Christianity and site of Lindisfarne Castle – can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!). Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! Amber Waves is a tastefully furnished, semi-detached property, located in the traditional seaside village of Seahouses. The property underwent a total makeover in 2020 and offers stylish accommodation. From the entrance porch there is a generous living room with a cosy wood burner, leading to the kitchen/diner. A newly revamped shower room and utility area is also on the ground floor. There is a rear door from the kitchen to a fully enclosed patio garden where there are colourful beach huts offering ample storage for outdoor equipment, including bikes and diving equipment. There are three bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor. The largest of the bedrooms has two sets of adult size bunk beds, making Amber Waves able to accommodate up to eight guests.
Seahouses offers a wide array of tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops within walking distance of Amber Waves. Boat trips run from the nearby harbour to the Farne Islands, famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic castle, is only 2 miles north, where there is a wide expanse of golden, and often empty sandy beaches. The tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island, can be seen from the beach and is accessible via a causeway twice daily. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is home to thousands of sea and land birds, making this location a haven for bird watchers.
