With its own private garden, you can hardly believe you are but a few footsteps from the bustling main street of Corbridge.
Corbridge is a picturesque Roman village renowned for its many charming shops, tea rooms, restaurants & inns and is an excellent base to discover the beautiful Northumberland countryside. Nestled within 90 acres of a beautiful part of the South Tyne valley, this cluster of barn conversions have been recently developed to create holiday cottages to a superior standard and can be booked individually or collectively to accommodate extended parties.  Each property has oak flooring; is well equipped with many modern appliances suitable for contemporary living and tastefully furnished throughout.  This complex is in a very private setting and offers the additional bonus of being only 50 yards from the trout and salmon rich South Tyne River, where fishing is available on a pre booked basis for a fee dependent on month of the salmon season.  

The Nook is a charming country cottage in the village of Tow House near Bardon Mill. A warm welcome awaits, with oak beams and a lovely log-burning stove nestling within an inglenook being the focus of the cosy living room. Recently refurbished to a very good standard, the newly installed kitchen has everything you need to cater for your stay. Upstairs the kingsize bedroom has a lovely feature bed, Smart TV and en-suite washroom, toilet and separate shower room. Across the landing is the pretty single bedroom which has a cosy cabin-style feel, with an en-suite shower room and double rainfall-style shower. Outside is an enclosed, stone-flagged courtyard, set with a table and chairs to enjoy an al-fresco meal or evening tipple as you return from your day’s adventure. As this is a pet-friendly cottage this provides a secure space for your four-legged friend.
Less than a mile away and an easy walk is the village of Bardon Mill where there is a lovely picnic area, coffee shop/general store, and a dog-friendly pub which serves bar and Thai food, and also has a beer garden. From here catch the train - you can be in Newcastle or Carlisle in under 45 minutes. The historic market town of Hexham has a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the Roman town of Corbridge and meander around its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops and take a stroll along the river.
In close proximity to the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England. Visit the famous Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. For the golf enthusiast, Close House Golf Course is just a 25-minute drive away. In just over an hour, you can reach the golden beaches at Tynemouth, or head further north to explore the Northumberland coastal villages of Amble, Bamburgh, Warkworth and many more. With so much to see and do in this beautiful part of Northumberland, The Nook is a convenient place to stay.

Old Colliery Cottage nestles amidst a small group of three properties just on the outskirts of the welcoming village of Shilbottle. The accommodation is immaculately presented throughout with much thought, care and attention to detail. Entering the property there is a real cosiness and home from home feeling, a perfect retreat for couples or up to three adults set all on the ground floor with the added bonus of having no stairs. There is a well equipped kitchen and the living/dining room room has a Smart TV and is the perfect place for relaxing. The master bedroom and pretty single room have easy access to the bathroom with freestanding claw foot bath.The well presented, sunny garden is a joy to relax in while dining al fresco.
Shilbottle is located midway between the picture perfect coastal village of Alnmouth to the east and the historic market town of Alnwick to the north west, both being a mere 4 miles from your door. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter’s ‘Hogwarts’, is a popular visitor attraction. Another place thats worth a visit is Alnwick Gardens - a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe. There is a wide array of facilities available within this lovely market town, including independent shops, tea rooms, a cinema/playhouse and one of the largest second-hand book shops in the UK. The pretty seaside village of Alnmouth boasts a vast golden sandy beach and there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops. Golf enthusiasts will delight in two courses, one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton enjoying panoramic views. Travel 10 miles north east to the seaside holiday village of Beadnell, popular for watersports enthusiasts.
Visit Seahouses a further 2 miles north and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins at play (in season). Bamburgh Castle is only an extra 3 miles up this stunning coastline. Old Colliery Cottage is an excellent choice for those seeking a homely base that gives easy access to explore the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Northumberland Heritage Coast to the east, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the wild and lonely expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills to the west. The cottage is within 2 minutes’ drive of The Secret Spa, where you can book a spa day or hourly treatments. The cottage also has excellent public transport links with the East Coast Main Line station at Alnmouth, a 5-minute drive away, and bus links to Newcastle, Alnwick and Amble. Beach 4 miles. Cairn Rigg, a detached, cosy bungalow, is ideally located within walking distance of the historic and pretty small market town of Rothbury. A perfect retreat for that well deserved short break or annual holiday. Just off the centre in a slightly elevated position you can walk to the pub in ten minutes or a two-minute drive, with free parking all over Rothbury you can leave your car anywhere in the small town centre. This charming and pretty little market town has plenty of pubs, bespoke shops and places to eat in.
With a fabulous rear garden with tiered terraces Cairn Rigg is perfect for couples or up to three adults at all times of the year. Comfortably furnished inside with a Smart TV and open plan living area you can chat whilst you prepare tea in the well-equipped kitchen. To the rear is the lovely garden, the ideal place to sit out in on a sunny evening. The two bedrooms, one double and one single, are bright and airy.
Rothbury is a popular base for exploring the surrounding, stunning countryside which can be done by foot, cycle, or car. Nearby you can walk to the beautiful National Trust property Cragside, the home of Lord Armstrong, on the outskirts of the town. The less energetic may wish to take a gentle stroll along the river and try walking over the stepping stones as a reminder of childhood times.
Serious walkers can amble over to the Simonside Hills. Rothbury is known as the capital of Coquetdale and is ideally located for exploring the nearby villages. Set on the edge of the National Park it is within easy access of the Northumberland Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and only 12 miles from Alnwick famed for the castle used in some Harry Potter film scenes. The National Park can be easily reached and Kielder has a host of water sports. The drive along the lake is pretty spectacular and the dark skies at night are a big visitor attraction. You may even wish to venture to the Scottish Borders only 30 miles from here and of course the friendly city of Newcastle upon Tyne is only 30 miles south where you can explore the historic buildings and take a photo by the famous Tyne Bridge.
