Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.

Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.

Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

A pub renowned for serving excellent food is available in the village. Embleton is only a couple of miles south where there are more pubs, a village shop and its own stretch of golden sands. Heading 4 miles north is the popular holiday village of Beadnell where its golden sweeping sands are popular with water sport enthusiasts, offering wind surfing, diving and sea kayaking. The traditional fishing port of Seahouses is a short drive up the coastline, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour.
Take time to visit the picturesque village of Bamburgh where its dramatic castle is an impressive visitor attraction. A few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick where its own castle is the home to the Duke of Northumberland. Start you adventure from Amble; a delightful, friendly, seaside town which has a selection of pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as several independent shops and supermarkets for picking up any last-minute essentials. The quayside in Amble has a Sunday weekly market and is home to the Harbour Village where small independent shopping pods sell a range of arts, crafts, accessories, food, and drink. Head to the RPSB reserve of Coquet Island to discover puffins, terns and eider ducks, and take a boat ride around the island to see it from a unique perspective, while wildlife lovers will also relish the chance to explore the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and birdwatching opportunities are prominent at Druridge Bay. 6 miles North brings you to the quaint town of Alnmouth, a popular coastal village known for its excellent 18-hole golf course and its charming cycle routes. Stop off at one of the blissful beer gardens and soak in the glorious scenery. Further afield brings you into the thriving market town of Alnwick with its medieval Castle and outstanding natural beauty.

Heron House, a great three bedroom family house is located here in Berwick upon Tweed, just yards from the River Tweed. The local beaches in both Berwick and nearby Spittal are some of the best in the area, and the property enjoys a convenient location for accessing the facilities within Berwick town centre, in addition to the attractions up and down the Northumberland and Berwickshire coast.
The property provides accommodation over two floors. On the ground level there is a comfortable living room with wood burner and a generous dining room and kitchen. Refitted in 2020 to high modern standards the kitchen provides everything needed to base yourself as a family or group in Heron House. The dining area is spacious and comfortable, ideal for a family. Sea View at Lamberton has 180 degree panoramic views of the sea with views towards Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. The good size garden and elevated timber decking viewing platform will be a great place to enjoy the outside. This farming two storey property sleeps six comfortably in three bedrooms. One of the double rooms is on the ground floor with the remaining twin and double bedrooms upstairs. The bathroom with shower over L-Shaped bath are on the ground floor. A fairly well-equipped kitchen has a little utility area off to the side to allow for that extra little bit of practical space you always need. Of course we always hope for great weather when we are away from home but if the weather isn’t great there is an open fire for those cold and grim days. This really is a fabulous property to spend your break. So easy to get to, so easy to access places of interest and activities either by road or by rail from Berwick and so fantastic to be able to enjoy those views of the sea at the front and side and then open country and hillsides from the other side of the house.

Crescent by the Sea is within easy walking distance of the beach and long promenade which stretches along the seafront in this friendly seaside village. With four bedrooms and a lovely heated conservatory overlooking the enclosed lawned garden, this is a wonderful holiday home to spend time in with your family, friends or for couples to relax and unwind in.

Visitors to this comfortable holiday home will have a private parking space where you can leave the car and hop on a bus at the nearby bus stop to reach some lovely towns and villages. Newbiggin still has a few fishing boats and the lifeboat station is one of the oldest in England. The beach sweeps around the bay with the Church Point at one end with a lovely cliff top walk looking over the sea. The promenade is almost a mile long, a nice flat stroll in the evening, or in the mornings to blow away the cobwebs. Set in the centre of the promenade is a wonderful Italian ice cream parlour popular with locals and visitors, set on the piazza where you may be lucky to see live music on the bandstand in the summer. The village has all you need with an excellent bakery, takeaways, pubs, fruit shop, fish and chips and a good size supermarket.
Nearby Cresswell and Drurudge Bay has miles of unspoilt coast, then head north onto the Heritage Coast and discover the castles and villages that make Northumberland special. Day trips can be taken in all directions; a popular attraction is Hadrian’s Wall over to the west, stop off at a Roman fort en route. Holy Island is north and home to the Lindisfarne Gospels, reached by a causeway (check the tides). Steeped in history, it shouldn’t be missed whilst in the area. The pretty market town of Morpeth is only 8 miles with lots of excellent restaurants, bars and shops with an Edwardian shopping arcade. Head south to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay and walk along the vast promenade with plenty to see and do. Children may enjoy the Sea Life Centre. Newbiggin-by-the-Ssea is popular with surfers and paddle boarders and there is great sea fishing and rock pooling whilst admiring the only east coast offshore sculpture, ‘The Couple’, designed by Sean Henry.

Pebble Cottage is a newly refurbished mid terraced stone built cottage positioned a mere gentle stroll from the harbour within the traditional fishing port of Seahouses. The cottage has undergone a total make over and has been transformed to provide stylish accommodation. The tasteful furnishings are well co ordinated throughout and the living room boasts a lovely wood burning stove, ensuring a cosy welcome awaits guests whatever the season.
Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, try your luck at fishing or enjoy a round of golf on the links close by. There are several shops, tea rooms, pubs and amusement arcades within this friendly village and horse riding can be arranged only a mile away.

Railston Cottage is a former coach house which has undergone a major transformation and now provides excellent self-catering accommodation to a superior standard. Originally built circa 1820 by John Railston, a local seed and grain merchant, it was created to store the horse drawn coach; it is believed the coachman/gardener and his family once lived in the floor above. Immaculately presented throughout and with much thought, care and attention to detail, Railston Cottage is the perfect choice for the gathering of families and friends or for those couples seeking something rather special.

On the ground floor there is an open plan well equipped kitchen with dining area leading to a lovely snug; this tastefully furnished lounge area boasts two large sofas, and a cosy wood burner to snuggle in front of.
