Oakridge is a stunning example of 1800s architecture with a luxurious, contemporary interior. This semi-detached property offers a large sociable kitchen/dining room for family meals and playing games in front of the Aga before retiring to the living room. There is a large conservatory that looks out onto the lovely garden, and the utility room has a separate shower room which is great for rinsing off after a dip in the hot tub. The kitchen patio doors open out onto the hot tub and stone-built barbecue area, and there is a separate quieter area at the far end of the garden if you just want to relax and unwind. There is a ground floor bedroom and shower room, and the spacious first floor master bedroom benefits from both a spa bath and a fantastic shower. The large landing on the first floor is perfect for relaxing with a good book.
Hinderwell is a village with excellent local amenities including a good butchers, convenience store, a local pub and a tea room all just a short walk from your doorstep. This quaint village is just a mile from the picturesque fishing village of Runswick Bay, which boasts a sandy cove with opportunities for fossil hunting and rock pooling, yet right in the North York Moors National Park. Head north or south on the Cleveland Way and visit some of the amazing coastal gems such as Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay, Sandsend or Saltburn.
The bustling town of Whitby is a short drive or bus ride away where you will find so much to see and do. There is a 3 mile stretch of golden sandy beach, traditional amusement arcades and regular boat trips out to sea in search of minke whales and dolphins. There are many bistros and restaurants ranging from award-winning fish and chips to fine dining as well as tea rooms, coffee shops and pubs with live music. If you’re feeling energetic why not attempt the 199 steps up to the abbey that towers over Whitby.
You can drive inland to enjoy the natural beauty and some amazing heritage sites such as abbeys and monasteries within the National Park or catch a steam train as it snakes through the lush countryside to destinations such as Goathland and Pickering. There is a huge diversity of things to do in the area from surfing to golfing, and there is an abundance of walking and cycling tracks. The more traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just along the coast with its two huge bays, and the walled city of York is well worth a visit. Beach ¾ mile. The accommodation is well equipped for six guests. It has a pretty living area with comfortable sofas, a spacious kitchen/dining area and three bedrooms. A variety of sleeping options and two bathrooms giving versatility for a small group. To the rear of the property, a few paces across the path takes you to an enclosed lawned garden area, a great place for the kids to play, while a summerhouse and further small decked area give far reaching views across pastureland and the sea. The rural village of Hinderwell makes a great base if you like to get out and about. The picturesque resorts of Staithes, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Whitby are just a short drive away. Alternatively, the village is on a direct bus route into Whitby, perfect for avoiding parking at busy times. The cottage is close to two village inns serving good locally sourced produce and real ales; both are dog friendly. Other village amenities on hand include a family butcher, petrol station, churches, village hall, tennis courts, hair salon and a fish and chip shop. Hinderwell is an ideal base for walking holidays and is close to rural walking routes. Ferndene Cottage is perfectly located to access the Cleveland Way National Trail and the Esk Valley Walk. Easington is a peaceful village with a friendly local pub serving hearty home-cooked meals.
The property has a drive at the front for off-road parking, as well as an enclosed lawned garden at the rear, making it ideal for young children as well as dogs. This is a welcoming and cosy home from home. On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen and dining room. This wood-topped country-style kitchen is well-equipped and ready for you to create all your favourite meals, with both a dishwasher and a washing machine this is an ideal choice for longer stays as well as short breaks as you can make yourself at home.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, a spacious kingsize, as well as a double and a three-quarter-sized double. Each room is beautifully presented, and the house is complete with a family bathroom with a shower as well as a bath. For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover. Saltburn is a surfers’ paradise and has an iconic pier as well as some trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with little fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll while taking in the fresh sea breeze. Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away, a seafaring town with a fascinating history and an abbey overlooking the cobbled streets lined with independent shops and quirky cafés for you to explore, this place really has it all! Explore the heritage coast and sandy beaches of Yorkshire with seaside towns such as Saltburn, Whitby and Scarborough within easy reach, and fishing villages including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay. Historic homes, abbeys and castles abound in this area with Newby Hall and Gardens, Castle Howard, the castle ruins in Helmsley and Rievaulx Abbey in the vicinity. The North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast are just a short drive away, and the seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough have great beaches for the family for that traditional seaside holiday. Within the hour you can be in the city of York with its abundance of renowned attractions, including the iconic Minster, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Sea Haven is a large spacious bungalow situated at Hunmanby Gap just over 3 miles from the popular seaside resort of Filey. The owner has taken great care in providing a fantastic holiday home for families to enjoy. The large open plan living and kitchen area has floor to ceiling patio doors taking advantage of the magnificent sea views and leading out onto a decked seating area and lawn. There’s a cosy dual sided wood burner separating the kitchen and the living/dining area. The kitchen has all the mod-cons expected of a house of this standard as well as a utility area. There are gardens to the front and the rear which are completely enclosed. For guests taking their four-legged friends, a dog crate is also provided.
A 2-minute walk and you are on a stunning vast beach that stretches for over 3 miles to Filey and beyond. It’s a beach that never looks busy as it’s so wide and has lots of space for everybody. Great for the children or walking the dogs, or watching the horse riders galloping through the waves in the early morning. There is an excellent café that serves the beach guests and provides meals and drinks as well as ice creams. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, not quite as busy as its neighbour Scarborough however it has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Filey is also the end of the Cleveland Way walk so you can enjoy a walk along the cliff tops to Scarborough following part of this very famous 109 mile trail. The seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Both resorts are very popular holiday destinations and worth a visit during your stay.
The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive where you can see the puffins and other migrating birds from the viewing points on the cliff tops. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive. Sea Haven is not far from the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the artist David Hockney, who often paints the rolling hills of the Wolds. Beach 70 yards. This cosy detached cottage making a romantic retreat, is Grade II listed and dates back to 1760. It has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and benefits from an underfloor heated limestone tiled floor throughout the ground floor. Outside there is a large, enclosed, riverside garden, on the opposite side of a road that leads directly into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has a shared patio with a sitting-out area, a further riverside secluded seating area, garden furniture, BBQ and summerhouse. Although shared with the owners it is available to guests and their pets to enjoy at all times. Within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, East Ayton is a village just a few minutes’ drive from the seafront at Scarborough. The village has all the amenities you could wish for with a post office, shop, garage and local pub as well as an excellent fish restaurant. The cottage is just off the main street on the lane leading further into the National Park and towards Hackness. This property is an ideal place for the walkers or cyclists amongst you, with great trails right on your doorstep. From the large riverside orchard garden there are open views across the valley to the castle that dates back to 1390. Cycling is also very popular in the area as this forms part of the Tour de Yorkshire route. The Dalby Forest is close by with cycle trails for all abilities and home to the World Cup Trail, a challenging 4 mile route, or for beginners, there are plenty more leisurely routes. The cottage is an ideal base to visit all that Yorkshire has to offer from the North Yorkshire Moors to the Wolds and the beautiful east coast, and coarse fishing is available direct onto the River Derwent at the bottom of the garden with brown trout and grayling. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides.
