Sea Haven is a large spacious bungalow situated at Hunmanby Gap just over 3 miles from the popular seaside resort of Filey. The owner has taken great care in providing a fantastic holiday home for families to enjoy. The large open plan living and kitchen area has floor to ceiling patio doors taking advantage of the magnificent sea views and leading out onto a decked seating area and lawn. There’s a cosy dual sided wood burner separating the kitchen and the living/dining area. The kitchen has all the mod-cons expected of a house of this standard as well as a utility area. There are gardens to the front and the rear which are completely enclosed. For guests taking their four-legged friends, a dog crate is also provided.
A 2-minute walk and you are on a stunning vast beach that stretches for over 3 miles to Filey and beyond. It’s a beach that never looks busy as it’s so wide and has lots of space for everybody. Great for the children or walking the dogs, or watching the horse riders galloping through the waves in the early morning. There is an excellent café that serves the beach guests and provides meals and drinks as well as ice creams. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, not quite as busy as its neighbour Scarborough however it has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Filey is also the end of the Cleveland Way walk so you can enjoy a walk along the cliff tops to Scarborough following part of this very famous 109 mile trail. The seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Both resorts are very popular holiday destinations and worth a visit during your stay.
The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive where you can see the puffins and other migrating birds from the viewing points on the cliff tops. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive. Sea Haven is not far from the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the artist David Hockney, who often paints the rolling hills of the Wolds. Beach 70 yards. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. Outside, the garden has been beautifully landscaped to create two sitting areas at either side of the house so you can follow the sun all day. There is a garage, perfect for storing your bikes.
The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Fox and Hounds is the heart of the local community, offering high quality, hearty dining, with well-kept local ales in a relaxed, dog friendly atmosphere. The area is ideally located for exploring by car, walking and cycling.
There are many walks right from your very doorstep including the Dales Way, accessed by a connecting footpath leading down to the River Wharfe, which is just 300 yards away. The area is also a mecca for cyclists with the Tour De Yorkshire route having run through locally. Other country pursuits such as fishing, rock climbing and even pony trekking are all available nearby. The popular town of Grassington is just a 15-minute drive away and plays host to events all year round including a Summer Arts Festival with famed singers, presenters, poets and authors, and a winter Dickensian Festival to capture the spirit of Christmas.
The bustling market town of Skipton, 16 miles or 30 minutes drive away, has a great selection of shops and cafés, alongside delightful bars and restaurants dotted along cobbled streets. From here, you can tour the amazing Norman castle and take a boat trip along the canal. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forest of Bowland and Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive. This charming end of terrace property is only a short walk from the main high street. Syke Cottage is nestled in a quiet location just off the scenic village green, which is the perfect spot to soak up the breath-taking views while children play on the playground or football pitch. Bainbridge is a central base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales. There is a variety of boutique shops, pubs and eateries in nearby Hawes (less than 10 mins drive), not least the renowned Wensleydale Creamery with its specialist cheese shop, museum and restaurant. For walkers and cyclists, there are routes leading off from Bainbridge in all directions. Heading in the opposite direction towards the market town of Leyburn you will pass through a multitude of picture postcard villages and historic attractions. Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle, The Forbidden Corner and a ride on the Wensleydale steam railway (to name but a few) all make for great days out. Local amenities including a shop, pub and café are all within a few minutes’ walk of Syke Cottage.

The stylish living room is warm and welcoming, with a wood burner and comfortable sofas and French doors leading out to the patio area. Whether it’s casual dining and a glass of wine in the kitchen, or more formal dining in the dining room, this property caters for your every need. Upstairs the large bedrooms are beautifully furnished with super comfortable beds. The first, a kingsize has a Smart TV and views looking down across the Dales. The second a super kingsize has Smart TV and dual aspect windows with beautiful views and shares a Jack and Jill style bathroom with the third double room. All bedrooms have views over the Dale. There is a luxurious family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower cubicle.
Outside there are several areas to sit and enjoy the day. To the rear French doors lead out onto a flagged patio area, set with table and chairs where you can sit and watch the horses as they graze in the paddock. There is a further patio area to the front with garden furniture, and a large front lawn which is shared with The Barn. For guests bringing their furry friends the property extends to two paddocks directly across the road which is ideal for dog walking.
Situated in the picturesque village of West Witton and within walking distance of the village store, tea rooms and post office. With its highly acclaimed restaurant The Wensleydale Heiffer a short stroll away this makes a perfect choice for a special celebration. For those looking to explore the great outdoors, there are walks and cycle routes straight from the doorstep. With numerous attractions to visit, the stunning waterfalls at Aysgarth Falls or Hawes with its quirky shops and cafés and the famous Wensleydale Creamery. In the opposite direction visit the picturesque village of Middleham and its famous castle, enjoy the sights as the racehorses ride to and from the gallops each day or sit it in the village square and enjoy a coffee as you watch the world go by. A little further and you will reach the bustling market town of Leyburn with a host of interesting shops, restaurants and cafés all set around the market square and of course Friday is market day and a chance to snap up some of the gorgeous local produce.

It lies just moments away from the rolling hills and moors of the North York Moors National Park, and the beautiful golden sand at Whitby’s Beach. Take advantage of your close proximity to the coast and spend a day at Whitby Beach, where you can try your hand at surfing or paddle boarding with the local surf school, sunbathe with your favourite book, or beachcomb the shores, looking out for fossils as well as fragments of precious jet. Jet jewellery is highly regarded here, and you can visit many jet jewellery shops as well as the historical workshop. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy a whale watching cruise, searching for seals, dolphins, and whales, which frequent the shores especially in September. Or travel further south along the coast to Bempton Cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest annually at the RSPB site.
The coastline here is fabulous with the neighbouring villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick, Staithes and Sandsend all perfect for a scenic day out all year round. Some visitors love soaking up the sun, whilst others are enthralled on a stormy day watching the waves. Be sure to visit the North York National Park, where a plethora of scenic walks through wooded valleys await, taking the steam train from Whitby gives you a wonderful tour of some of the prettiest villages on the moors. All year round there are many events to enjoy, and for younger family members there is Flamingoland theme park and zoo, the Sea Life Centre, Dalby Forest’s Go Ape and Alpamare Water Park all within a 40 minutes’ drive.
