Riverbank cottage is a detached, comfortable family and couples retreat set on the west bank of the river Trent, ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday or a base from which to explore this historic area. The cottage sleeps six adults and two children comfortably.
The first floor comprises of a sitting room with views overlooking the river, a family bathroom, a twin bedroom, a double room and a children’s room with a small single and a pull-out bed, only suitable for children, not adults. The ground floor benefits from a twin bedroom, a shower room with a toilet, a utility room, a TV snug and a dining kitchen. The cottage has an enclosed garden with a south-facing patio, garden furniture, barbeque, cycle store and parking for 1-2 cars accessed by an 8ft wide drive.
Although Althorpe has lost its pub there are many restaurants and eateries in the area including the excellent Ferryboat in the next village. Many shops and restaurants are available nearby, all within three miles along the A18 east.
There are many good walks and cycle routes and several golf courses only a short drive away. Interesting places to visit include Epworth, the birthplace of John Wesley founder of Methodism, the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Normanby Hall and many wildlife and bird reserves. Lincoln, York, Beverley, Cleethorpes and Hull the 2017 City of Culture all less than an hour away.

There are a number of golf courses available within a 20-minute drive from Park House. For fishermen, there are also 2 fisheries nearby which offer day tickets (licence required). Belvoir Lakes is 4 miles away (at cost), and Woodland Waters is 13½ miles (also at cost). Or visit the neighbouring towns of Newark, Melton Mowbray, Stamford and Oakham, plus historic Lincoln and its cathedral, castle and Magna Carta exhibition, vibrant Nottingham and its National Ice Centre, and Leicester, including the National Space Centre and the King Richard lll Visitor Centre. Situated at Anderby Creek, Ravenna is perfect for both summer seaside holidays and relaxing winter escapes. This charming semi-detached holiday home sits just 100 yards from a glorious sandy beach, and is comfortably furnished throughout. Anderby Creek boasts the UK’s first cloud observation deck. Visitors can enjoy watching the seals at Donna Nook, and golf, cycling, walking and bird watching are all available locally. Lots of family fun is to be had at Skegness, and you can see the wildlife of the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve only 8 miles away. Lincoln with its soaring cathedral, cobbled streets, interesting shops and Christmas markets, is an easy drive, as are the beautiful Wolds and their delightful market towns. Nearby is a café, bar and a coarse fishing lake, £5 per day. Golfers will love the famous course at Sandilands with North Shore and Seacroft golf courses in Skegness also only a short drive. Enjoy a drive around the Lincolnshire Wolds where local towns have regular market days, Horncastle and Alford also boast a good selection of antiques and collectables shops.
