There are two excellent 18-hole links golf courses nearby at North Shore and Seacroft, with fishing lakes throughout the area one of which is just ½ mile away. The region offers good walking and cycle routes, with the Lincolnshire Wolds and the market towns of Louth and Alford nearby. Horncastle, best known for its numerous antique shops, is about 25 minutes’ drive. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

The properties are just 2 miles from Burgh le Marsh and only 5 miles from the seaside resort of Skegness with its excellent sandy beaches, fun fair, amusements, theatre, a seal sanctuary and Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve. Each lodge has its own private hot tub positioned on the decked veranda overlooking the fishing lakes, which are all well stocked with mature carp up to 20lbs, barble up to 11lbs and bream up to 7lbs, as well as crucian carp, chub, tench, ide, rudd, roach and perch. For those that don’t want to fish, there is plenty to see and do in the area. Attractions in the area include the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at Coningsby or Horncastle, a 30-minute drive, which is famous for its many antique and collectables shops. Lincoln Cathedral, where ’The Da Vinci Code’ was filmed with Tom Hanks, is about an hour’s drive and there are many excellent walks and cycle routes throughout the area. Beach 5 miles. Sunningdale Cottage is a detached, single-storey bungalow with a large garden set close to the centre and seafront in Chapel St Leonards, and is just a short walk to the beach. It makes a great base for a family holiday and is situated on a popular stretch of the east coast between the seaside towns of Skegness and Mablethorpe. A seal sanctuary, Hardy’s Animal Farm and Fantasy Island, are all within a short drive. There are fishing lakes, golf, walks and cycle routes nearby. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

With the sandy beaches within walking distance and shops and pub also a stroll away, there is no need to use the car, but if you want to explore further along the coast, the busy seaside resort of Skegness is 14 miles away, the market towns of Alford, 7 miles and Louth, 20 miles, are all worth a day out. There is also a nearby bus stop which is the main bus route from Skegness to Mablethorpe. There is a popular hotel with a bar close by with two tennis courts. Free fishing is also available nearby. North Somercotes is one of the larger villages in the area and has several shops, takeaways, 2 pubs, a licensed restaurant, hairdressers and beauty facilities. North Somercotes is 15 miles south of Cleethorpes, a popular holiday resort including the theme park Pleasure Island, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway and other attractions. The village is only 8 miles from the Georgian town of Louth which still boasts 3 markets a week, with the very impressive St James Church, Hubbards Hills picnic area and beauty spot, as well as a cinema, leisure centre and many excellent restaurants and pubs. Mablethorpe, 11 miles, is only a short drive away and has sandy beaches along with all your normal seaside attractions including a fun fair and amusements. Grimsby has a Fishing Heritage Centre, as well as very good shopping facilities. Donna Nook Seal Sanctuary is within 2 miles and from late October to late December seals congregate to have their pups here (1798 pups in 2014). Seals are very close to the public viewing areas, making Donna Nook one of the most accessible sites for seeing seals breeding in the UK. It attracts 40,000 visitors a year. Good walks and cycle routes are straight from the door with fishing and golf courses all within a short drive.
