Westgate Cottage is a charming 17th-century stone built holiday cottage located in the picturesque village of St Lawrence, at the southernmost tip of the island. Originally the local coach house with stables and accommodation for visitors, there are still remnants of a bygone age, with lashing points for the horses and cobbled pathways. The secure gated walled garden provides an ideal area for children and pets. The village has a local post office and store, and popular unspoilt Steephill Cove, cricket club and splendid Botanical Gardens are all close by. The Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor has an esplanade where freshly caught fish, crab and lobster can be purchased. Other places of interest include Isle of Wight Glass, St. Boniface Down, or further afield The Needles, Carisbrook Castle and Osborne House. Nestled in a stunning conservation area, the holiday property is a short walk to the historic Newtown Creek, and set in woodlands, it offers direct access onto walk ways. The farmhouse was originally farm cottages to Hamstead Grange and parts of the property are believed to date back to Tudor times, when the grange was owned by the Monks of Quarr Abbey on the island.

Serena is a spacious, detached property with off-road parking for up to four vehicles at the front and a large enclosed rear garden. Buttercup Barn is a beautiful home right in the countryside of Wootton, very close to the popular seaside resort of Ryde. Wootton Bridge has a number of local shops, and a good choice of takeaways and pubs. There are many places of interest and all just a short drive including Osborne House, the stately holiday residence of Queen Victoria, Quarr Abbey with its resident monks, and impressive Carisbrooke Castle. The Victorian town of Ryde is also a short drive and is the second major town on the Island. The position of Captain’s Cottage couldn’t be better, it is right in the heart of this beautiful seaside resort, with shops, bars, and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
