Accessed via a paved patio area, the Boathouse is a skilfully converted former sail loft fronting directly on to the Percuil River with exposed beams and wonderful views across to Place Manor and St Mawes Harbour. From your balcony or the sitting room you can watch the boats passing slowly by, or maybe look out for some of the varied wildlife that inhabits the river.
    St Mawes Harbour with its shops, pubs and hotels is a short walk away along the seafront. St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. From the harbour in St Mawes, you can take ferries to Falmouth, Truro, Place Manor and many other parts of the estuary.
    The Boathouse is superbly located for those wanting to get out on the water. You can bring a small dinghy and use the private slipway in front of the property. The owners can organise dinghy and dayboat sailing or organise yacht cruises at an additional cost. A small rowing dinghy is also available to hire. For boats up to 20 feet, there are two moorings available upon request and subject to availability at weekly rates, together with use of slipway and trailer parking. Relax or do as much as you want; The Boathouse is just a lovely place to be! Please note that the slipway and the ground floor of the property are used regularly by the Owner. Beach 500 yards.

    Widemouth Bay is a fantastic beach has a vast expanse of golden sands at low tide and many rock pools to explore. The surf is often outstanding, the sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical. Five miles to the north is Bude, a vibrant, bustling little tourist town. In the centre of Bude, there is a huge, sandy beach which is a favourite with children and adults alike. Bude is Cornwall’s most northern town and has been a favourite seaside resort since Victorian times. The centre of Bude is a lively hub with concerts, dances and fetes as well as other events throughout the season, including an annual Carnival Week.     These pet friendly holiday barns are situated less than half a mile from the stunning north coast of Cornwall. The access is via a typical Cornish narrow road with beautiful scenic views of the sea peeping out through the hedgerow on approach. In the heart of this small Cornish hamlet, the barns (refs 30108, 30109, 30110 and 30111) are furnished and fitted to provide a comfortable base from which to explore the many attractions that Cornwall has to offer. Whilst there are no local amenities as it is a hamlet, only a 5-minute car journey takes you to the local village; we suggest you look at the welcome folder in the cottage to familiarise yourself to your surroundings and to discover what amenities are local to your stay.

    Each barn has a well-equipped kitchen as well as open-plan living area. Each has its own sitting-out area, which is ideal for watching the wildlife and al fresco dining.

    Each property also has access to electric car charging points which a charge for use however if you require using the charging points you must bring your own lead. This barn has the private use of a hot tub, but please note the first night the temperature may not of quite reached it’s optimal temperature due to the replenishment of fresh water post cleaning the tub.

    Guests are close to the coastal path and if you walk north, you will reach Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants. A little further on, Boscastle with its picturesque harbour, is a must. A small beach can be reached on foot, approximately ½ mile away. Travelling down the coast, guests will come to Port Isaac, where the TV series ’Doc Martin’ is filmed, and further down the coast, visit the beautiful sandy surfing beach at Polzeath and the dunes at Rock where you can take a ferry across to Padstow.

    From Padstow, with its working harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants, you can hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin.

    Close by is Bodmin Moor, unspoilt moorland at its best, and for walkers the tors on the moor are a must. Further down the coast is Newquay, with its famous surfing beaches, Blue Reef Aquarium and Zoo, and if you travel to the south coast, you will find Looe, Fowey and Mevagissey, just a few of the charming coastal villages. For cycling enthusiasts, there is a cycle hub at Lanhydrock, with some wonderful forest routes to be taken. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

The decor is immaculate, and a sense of light and space prevails. In the open plan living space the wood burner is a real treat and will warm up those winter evenings so you can snuggle into the comfortable sofas while sipping on your favourite tipple. The kitchen is also stunning and is in no way a token gesture, a large range oven with gas hob, plenty of work surface, and a dishwasher are all in place so you can create your culinary masterpieces. The bedroom is again airy and open and has a deluxe rainfall shower in the en-suite. A private courtyard to the rear with table and chairs is the perfect place for a spot of al fresco dining.
    Should you wish to go out, the local pub is a 15-minute walk down the hill, or you can venture to the beautiful town of Marazion, set on the shores of Mount’s Bay where there is a wide choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. There are many wonderful beaches nearby and some amazing coastal walks. But the main attraction is obviously the majestic St Michael’s Mount with its tidal causeway, which can be glimpsed from the patio doors on a clear day.
    Nearby Penzance, meaning ’holy headland’, is the last major town before Lands End. The streets of Penzance hold many historic buildings dating from the 17th century; it is well worth a walk around. The pub on Chapel Street, reputed to date from 1233, is the older pub in the town, steeped in smuggling and pirate history. A few minutes down the road is Newlyn, home to one of the largest fishing fleets with over 40 acres of the harbour and, more recently, attracting many great artists and exhibitions. In addition, Lands End, St Ives and the Lizard Peninsula are all within easy reach and ensure you can be as active or lazy as you like. Beach 2½ miles.

    Less than 2 miles from Bodmin. This area is a great place to explore by bicycle and you can either bring your own or hire them locally and roam along the nearby Camel Trail. Barn Cottage is an ideal base for touring the whole of Cornwall with a host of nearby sandy beaches such as Polzeath, Harlyn and Trevone. Classic Cornish villages such as Fowey, Mevagissey, Port Isaac and Boscastle are all within easy reach, as is the bustling fishing town of Looe. The famous Eden Project is well worth a visit as is the stately home at Lanhydrock, both just a few minutes away. The beautiful River Fowey is accessible for walks at various points nearby including Golitha Falls and Respryn, with their ancient beech woodlands, and in the former Cornish capital of Lostwithiel. Lanhydrock golf course is approximately one mile away for those desiring a leisurely round or two!
    The oldest part of Bodmin is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994. The 18-mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.     Acorns is a comfortable two storey one bedroom cottage, occupying one end of the Owners’ superb, converted granite barn which used to be an old threshing barn. Located in a small hamlet of about ten houses and converted barns, this peaceful rural location is a wonderful place to escape to at any time of year. A great dog friendly cottage too! The barn itself is set out in reverse style with open plan living space on the first floor and access into the enclosed garden. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with external access, a large bathroom with original Victorian roll-top bath, and a separate shower.
    Acorns is in three designated areas - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Area of Great Scientific Value and Area of Great Historic Value. Something for everyone! The oak tree shown in the photos is the "famous" Darley Oak which is over 1000 years old. This is a great location to visit if you are a keen walker. There are endless opportunities to explore the local area.
    The wilds of Bodmin Moor with endless walking opportunities are nearby and the spectacular scenery of both Cornish coasts and Dartmoor are all within easy reach. The area abounds with country pubs - most of which have roaring fires in the winter months, and the towns of Launceston and Liskeard are just short distance away. Acorns is just 2 miles from Minions, Cornwall’s highest village, the famous Cheesewring, a dramatic outcrop of granite slabs and The Hurlers, a set of three bronze age stone circles.
