The Cider Barn is decorated and furnished to a very high standard by the owners who have years of experience in the hospitality industry, and the attention to detail is evident in every room.
Downstairs is a fabulous open plan living space, with wonderful Bi-folding doors that open to allow the outside in and giving you great views over the Blackdown hills. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need and the island unit opens it up to the rest of the room, so you can socialise while creating your next culinary masterpiece! The large Master bedroom on the ground floor has a stunning four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower, while upstairs the second large bedroom features a wonderful kingsize bespoke bed, beautiful beamed vaulted ceiling and statement lighting. There is also a shower room upstairs with walk-in shower.
Outside you will find a Mediterranean style covered seating area complete with its own chandelier, barbecue area and private hot tub, all soaking up the wonderful views!
Set in the lovely village of Bishopswood, with the Somerset Wildlife Trust running adjacent to the property, you are only 5-minutes’ walk from the local pub and surrounded by miles of beautiful walks. The market town of Honiton is just 10 miles away and the beach at Lyme Regis can be reached within a 30-minute drive. Heading north, you will find the county town of Taunton with lots of restaurants, cinema, bowling and shopping, and within an hour’s drive you will find Glastonbury, Street, Minehead and the moors of Exmoor! Beach 18 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Cheviot View has a living room which enjoys fabulous views to the west towards the Cheviot Hills and along with 2 of the bedrooms looks south over open countryside. Charming and attractive former farm workers cottages enjoying splendid views and situated on a mixed working farm, with cows, calves, horses and three pet pigs called Prudence, Portia and Primrose, about 2 miles north of the historic market town of Alnwick. Both holiday cottages are furnished and equipped to provide a comfortable style of accommodation in a quiet location, reached by a country lane which passes through the farm. This is a superb area in which to base one’s holiday as the surrounding countryside is wonderful and the beautiful coastline with its many sandy beaches is just a short drive away. Blackhill Gate Cottage is set in an unrivalled rural location offering superb panoramic countryside views across the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. Crossing the Derbyshire and Cheshire boundary on the outskirts of the pretty Peak District village of Kettleshulme, this holiday cottage is located next to a field which at times is home to nursery lambs, and offers fine walking direct from the door through the valley of Todd Brook, Bowstones, Taxal Edge and into the Goyt Valley. Kettleshulme itself is home to a 15th century country pub which offers a warm welcome and freshly cooked meals. The town of Whaley Bridge with its mix of shops, bars and restaurants plus train station with direct service to both Manchester and Buxton is a 5 minute drive. The National Trust Lyme Park with its glorious house and gardens can be reached on foot or by car and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the popular market town of Bakewell, 45 minute’s drive. A variety of Peak District villages are all easily reachable within half an hour’s drive including Edale, Tideswell and Castleton, and great days out for the family within an hour’s drive include the local Chestnut Centre Wildlife Park, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath with is cable car and the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers. These two first floor holiday apartments are located adjacent to the Copper Penny Inn with Wi-Fi available, a traditional village pub located in the little hamlet called Chipshop on the outskirts of Tavistock. It is situated on the Devon/Cornwall border close to the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Tamar Trails within 1 mile. The owners, who are local farmers as well as publicans, also have a farm shop on-site selling locally produced meats and organic vegetables. This is the ideal location for couples or small families of all ages looking for a convenient base from which to explore a wide area. Locally there is Tavistock, the ancient market town, Morewellham Quay, or Cotehele National Trust on the banks of the River Tamar. The unusual name of the village, ‘Chipshop’, derives from the old days when miners working the local copper mines were paid in ‘chips’ which could be exchanged for goods in the local shops and inns. Situated in a quiet position overlooking grazed meadowland, quite often the flight path of the resident barn owl, The Old Saddlery is a short distance from the main 16th-century Colkirk Hall farmhouse, rumoured to play host to members of the Gun Powder Plot. The property dates back to the mid-1700s, formally a cart shed and stables and latterly a saddlery through until the mid-1980s when it was remodelled into the Old Saddlery. You will find the first floor situated within the eaves of the property containing bedroom three, along with a bathroom. Great care was taken to preserve some original features such as the beams, but to provide all the modern conveniences needed for a great stay. With two bathrooms, one of which features a free-standing bath, and a cosy living area with a wood burner, there are really lots of reasons to choose this cottage for your holiday.
Coast lovers can be in Wells-next-the-Sea in 20 minutes. Here you will find a wide sandy beach with pretty coloured beach huts, a picturesque quay and a lovely assortment of boutique shops, cafés and restaurants. Head west and explore a coastline littered with pretty coastal villages with beaches and marshes galore. Go as far as Hunstanton and enjoy all the fun of the fair or explore the Sealife Centre. Then head east and stop off at Blakeney to enjoy the traditional pursuit of crabbing or visit Cromer with its famous pier and seasonal end of pier show. The Holkham Hall and Blickling Estates are within easy reach, as is Sandringham, the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn and the medieval city of Norwich. Beach 13 miles. Broome Farm, once a small arable farm, nestles in the heart of the Shropshire Hills in an AONB. St Vincent, a former granary and Bequia, a former carthouse have been sympathetically restored and carefully furnished to preserve the character of the original buildings. Both take in the breathtaking views over the South Shropshire hills and valleys. Situated 8 miles form Much Wenlock, 7 miles from Church Stretton, also known as ‘Little Switzerland’ and 12 miles from Shrewsbury. Ludlow and Ironbridge are also within a half hour drive. Offering a rural experience, Drumble Lodge can be found at the end of a winding country lane on a working farm amidst beautiful Cheshire countryside. The location is peaceful and serene, where you can enjoy the sounds of bird song throughout the day and the distinctive calls of owls at night. The farm on which the lodge stands has been registered as a wedding venue and will accommodate smaller weddings. Pet sheep and goats that meander around the paddock next to the lodge, and in the distance, you’ll see cows grazing in the meadow. Despite the rural setting, the property has Sky Link Wi-Fi with 200 megabites per second.
A selection of outdoor seating areas are available where you can relax, unwind and once the sun sets gaze at the stars beyond through the telescope provided. A traditional dog friendly, food serving pub is a mere 10-minute walk, and ample footpaths radiate from the area just waiting to be explored. The pretty market town of Congleton can be reached in around 10 minutes and is home to ample amenities including a selection of supermarkets and shops together with many bars and restaurants.
The National Trusts Biddulph Grange Country Park and Little Moreton Hall are also accessible in around a 10-minute drive. You can take a waterside stroll along the River Dane, cycle the tranquil traffic free Biddulph Valley Way, or walk to the famous atmospheric ruins of Mow Cop Castle and lesser-known Old Man of Mow.
The Peak District National Park is around a 30-minute drive and the city of Manchester can be reached in under an hour on a direct train from Congleton station. For those with children Delamere Forest, Manley Mere and Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around 45 minutes and then finally the city of Chester, Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo in around an hour.

Situated in the beautiful village of Bassenthwaite you will find this wonderful, traditional holiday cottage nestled down a small lane. Jemima’s Cottage is a very comfortable, two-bedroom property which has a spacious open plan living/dining room with an open fire. There is a small, well-equipped kitchen. On the first floor there is a double bedroom, a bedroom with double bed and single bed and a family bathroom and an area on the landing with Beatrix Potter books and toys ideal for children.

Jemima’s Cottage is located in the heart of the village of Bassenthwaite in the northern region of the Lake District National Park, approximately a 15-minute drive from the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. This is an excellent base to explore some of the quieter corners of the Lake District near a stream where puddle ducks wander to and fro and swings in a small, wooded area it is only a couple of minutes’ walk to the village pub serving local ales and meals and the village green which is ideal for playing ball games.

Bassenthwaite is 2 miles from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake (an ideal walk to the only official lake in the Lake District!) and 2 miles from the foot of Skiddaw, the fourth highest mountain in the Lake District. There are excellent walks for all abilities straight from the cottage door or a short drive away. There is a wildlife park in Bassenthwaite, a 5-minute drive from the cottage, and Mirehouse and Gardens is under a 10-minute drive towards Keswick. The Lakes Distillery is under a 10-minute drive towards Cockermouth and offers guided tours.

There are many activities for all ages and abilities in the Lake District and Cumbria, as well as great places to visit and enjoy. Bassenthwaite is almost mid-way between Keswick and Cockermouth, so going either direction has its own benefits. Keswick is a magnet for the Lake District visitor with Derwentwater, several parks including crazy golf, mini golf and putting, shops, cafés, restaurants, galleries, a museum, cinema, theatre, brewery and more. Cockermouth is much more of a local’s town first and a visitor centre second, though still has more than its fair share of things to see and do. These include several antique shops, Mitchell’s livestock auction market where you can watch sheep and cattle being sold, Jennings Brewery, Wordsworth House (the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth), the annual food festival in September attracting 30,000 people, and a good selection of unique owner-run shops and eateries. Beach 17 miles. Nearest shops in Keswick or Cockermouth, 15 minutes’ drive or many supermarkets do on-line deliveries, pub, and restaurant 200 yards.

Featuring beams taken from shipwrecks on the Cumbrian Coast, this small group of holiday cottages at Birkerthwaite, a former 17th century Lakeland farmstead, lie at the end of an unmade track and are surrounded by tranquil moorland scenery and farmland. This is fantastic walking countryside and the elevated position gives views of Scafell and the Eskdale Valley, creating a unique atmosphere of tranquillity. Birkerthwaite Cottage (W41479) has an upstairs open plan living area with wooden floors which opens onto a balcony overlooking gardens.
Nearby attractions include Muncaster Castle and Hardknott Roman Fort, whilst the Langdale Pikes and Ambleside on the northern shores of Lake Windermere can be reached via a stunning drive over the Hard Knott and Wrynose Passes. A short drive away is Wast Water; to the west are sandy beaches. Alternatively take the steam train from Ravenglass. Shop 3 miles, pub 2½ miles.
