They lie just 10 miles from historic Canterbury, and you can take a boat ride on the River Stour, visit the historic cathedral or maybe take in a show. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Howletts and Wingham Wildlife Park make great days out. Folkestone is 5 miles and Dover is 8 miles. Visit the Roman Painted House, Dover Castle and the iconic white cliffs. Bring your passport so you can enjoy day trip to France. The Channel Tunnel is close by and the international Eurostar terminal is 15 miles away at Ashford, where you can also go for some retail therapy. Beach 7 miles. Located within the heart of the Lake District, Helm View is situated in the secluded tree-lined district of Annisgarth, a short walk from the centre of both Windermere and Bowness and five minutes on foot from the open countryside with views over Windermere and beyond. This modernised Lakeland slate house is a spacious retreat combining tradition with modern facilities and the chance to relax in front of the log fire or on the patio. There are numerous attractions nearby with outdoor activities, sightseeing, shops, restaurants, Lake Windermere and the Beatrix Potter visitor attractions. Throwley Cottage has a delightful location in a very rural area, a great spot for some peace and quiet and not to be disturbed. As you arrive there is ample parking and you are greeted by the vast fields that surround this home. The property itself is very traditional with original features and space. On the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook your favourite meals during your stay with a dining table to seat all guests, there is also a back door leading out to the rear garden. The living room has comfortable seating, a TV and an open fire. There is also a shower room located on the ground floor.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, made up of a double, a twin and lastly a double bed and single bed in the third bedroom. All rooms have a homely feel to them and have stunning views across the Peak District landscape. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath and shower attachment. Outside within the fenced garden the kids can run free, play garden games or let the dogs enjoy the space this property offers. There is a bike rack too for you to store your bicycles while you aren’t on the trails.
Throwley Cottage is located near Ilam, Ashbourne, just a short distance from Dovedale and 15 minutes from Alton Towers theme park. The Peak District National Park has fantastic access to popular walking and cycling trails such as the Manifold Valley and the Tissington Trail. Pub and restaurant 3¾ miles.

An extremely spacious two-person cottage having a living, dining, kitchen area on the higher level with two south-facing balconies overlooking the stream towards the Mill. The master bedroom and en-suite shower room are on the lower level, together with the riverside day room. Your own footpath leads from the garden via a footbridge to the facilities at the Mill.
Tuckenhay Mill is the centrepiece of a cluster of country homes and cottages with superb leisure facilities including two indoor and one outdoor pools.
The Mill which once produced some of the finest paper in the land, nestles in the green and shady Bow Creek, a languid inlet of the River Dart where private yachts have replaced the old tall-masted ships and barges. Around the mill are all the buildings which once went to make up a small bustling village port. These listed buildings have been sympathetically restored and converted to a delightful range of holiday properties to suit larger family parties. Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the superb award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands and about 30 minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK.
There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding.
This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing.
In addition, there are many historic NT houses to visit including Agatha Christies’s Greenway as well as a local vineyard.

Great care has been taken to retain the feel of the original buildings. Most have garden, terrace or patio. Many cottages have more than one bathroom and some have an en-suite bathroom to every bedroom. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped: most have dishwashers and all have microwave cookers.
Couples and honeymooners will feel snug and comfortable in the cottages: Mill Leat, Mill Stream, Mill Spring and now Mill Bank. Families can spread out in Papermaker’s or Turbine Cottages, while Mill Lodge, Edgecombe Barn and Tuckenhay Mill House will sleep larger parties in comfort. Of course, combinations of cottages can accommodate bigger gatherings of family or friends.

A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Built as an impressive French-style chateau, the museum houses a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art. Other places of interest are Raby Castle, the ruins of Egglestone Abbey and Rokeby Hall. Hexham (with stately abbey) is a good day trip out, as well as the splendid cathedral city of Durham, 15 miles. This incredible property is set over three floors with four bedrooms welcoming seven guests in total. There is not one, but two kitchens, so that the ground floor level is equipped for a couple to have their own personal self-contained space if they wish. Ideal for families as well as friends holidaying together. On the doorstep, you have a small front garden with a bench, where you can soak up the sun whilst watching the world pass by, with the sea stretching out over the horizon. Stepping inside, this property is beautifully furnished and the owners have created a very desirable holiday home. On the ground floor, you have a dining table positioned in the bay window to soak in the gorgeous views, as well as comfy seats beside a floor lamp, ideal to get snug with a good book. On the top floor, you have a super king bedroom under the eaves with velux windows bathing the room in light. The garden boasts a unique feature, a huge summerhouse with a glass partition wall which slides open to reveal an incredible social space complete with a bar, a dartboard, and a separate games room with a ping pong table. There is also plenty of storage for bikes as well as surf boards and any other outdoor equipment. Located on the peaceful end of the beach, just a short stroll leads you to the Floral Hall which holds year-round events as well as serving food from the seafront café. Beyond the Floral Hall you have many more cafés, bars, and shops to explore as well as the arcades for younger family members. A stroll on the promenade is clearly a must during your visit. The famous Hornsea Mere, is a 30 minute walk away, it offers fun-filled days of water sports, and during the summer months, a visit to Hornsea would not be complete without a trip to see Honeysuckle Farm and Mr. Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour. The RSPB reserve of Bempton Cliffs, a haven for birdwatchers, and The Deep at Hull are only a short drive away. You also have the seaside town of Bridlington nearby, with Sewerby Hall and Gardens. Plus the dramatic white cliffs and iconic lighthouse at Flamborough. The minster town of Beverley is also within easy reach and worth a visit.
