It is ideally situated for enjoying and exploring west Dorset and the famous scenic World Heritage Jurassic Coast, and has a large, enclosed, lawned garden with a patio overlooking fields and footpaths towards Seatown. Wander over the fields to the coast at Seatown and enjoy some superb scenic coastal walking up to the top of Golden Cap the highest point in the south of England. Lyme Regis offers a great day or two out, with its picturesque harbour, sandy beach and famous Cob, where you can pass the time fossil hunting, boating, fishing, swimming, walking, exploring the quaint character shops, or simply wining and dining. Inland perhaps enjoy a cream tea at the Broadwindsor Craft Centre, or travel further afield to south Somerset and visit historic Forde Abbey and Gardens. The area is a must for watersports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen, whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by.
Further afield, the rugged North Devon coastline and wonderful surfing beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe are just a short drive away. North Devon is well positioned for visits to Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Cornwall including the local beauty spots of Bucks Mill, Clovelly and Hartland. With so much to explore in this lovely part of North Devon, this is the perfect base for a memorable holiday. Golf is available locally, and Bideford is just 3 miles away, with family attractions including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks. Just a mile from the sandy beaches and dunes of Winterton, this superb detached barn conversion enjoys an open outlook over a Site of Special Scientific Interest, abundant with wildlife. The Mount can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide or by small ferry boat at high tide. Marazion attracts birdwatchers from all over the UK to the marshes, a true wildlife haven. Penzance has a long flat promenade, leading past the open-air lido to the busy fishing harbour of Newlyn, one of the leading fishing ports in the country. Newlyn is also famous for its art school and galleries. Continue along the coastal path to the quaint harbour and village of Mousehole. The area has an abundance of restaurants, cafés, delis, shops and art galleries. Take a day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly by sea from Penzance or small plane from Lands End airport. A trip to the Minack Open Air Theatre is a must, cut into the rock face with the ocean as a backdrop and overlooking pretty Porthcurno Beach with its golden sands and clear waters. The Old Forge cottage nestles in the small ‘chocolate box’ village of Kingston in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, on the Dorset coastline. Restored and adjoining an ancient stone pub, this traditional single-storey stone cottage (including restored forge) has outstanding views of the historic Corfe Castle and wonderful open countryside of the Purbecks from its flagged courtyard. Although the property is single-storey, there are steps between some rooms and to the bedrooms. There are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities, and one with an additional single bed, and a twin bedroom. The living area has a cosy wood burner and is open to the kitchen/dining area. Corfe Castle is a very pretty town whichh is overlooked by ancient castle ruins which are now owned by the National Trust.
Nearby is the historic riverside town of Wareham with quayside and is one of the most beautiful towns in the country. Brimming with history, you must see the ancient Saxon walls, pastel coloured houses and enjoy picturesque riverside walks.
Swanage (5 miles) offers swimming, sailing, many shops, pubs and restaurants and a steam railway, and there is easy access to walks along the Purbeck coast.
Poole is just 8 miles north east and has the largest natural harbour in Europe. It caters for most tastes with water sports, coastal and woodland walks, and a plethora of shops.
Bournemouth is a little further east with miles of beautiful sandy beaches and provides traditional seaside attractions including a pier, amusement park and rides to keep the children entertained. Award-winning beach at Studland, 9 miles away. Arne RSPB nature reserve, 6 miles.

The Mill which once produced some of the finest paper in the land, nestles in the green and shady Bow Creek, a languid inlet of the River Dart where private yachts have replaced the old tall-masted ships and barges. Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the superb award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands and about 30 minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK.
There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding.
This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing.
In addition, there are many historic NT houses to visit including Agatha Christies’s Greenway as well as a local vineyard.
Tuckenhay is only 5 miles inland from Dartmouth and 3 from the market town of Totnes. Village shop 3½ miles. Riverside inn and restaurant within walking distance.

Mariners Lodge is a cosy, spacious, detached holiday cottage boasting sea views from the first floor living room and overlooking the 18-hole links golf course, with an adjacent 9-hole public course. Ideally situated in the quiet unspoilt fishing hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry, only 50 yards from the shingle beach and 400 yards from popular country pub serving good food. The village itself boasts an art gallery, cafe, sailing club, fishing from the beach and all are within walking distance. Situated on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, the cottage is well placed for touring Suffolk including the picturesque towns of Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Dunwich, Walberswick, Orford and Harwich. Only half an hours drive from Snape, famous for its all year round concerts. Further inland are Framlingham, a quaint old town with a cobbled market square, tea shops, good eating houses and a castle. For the children, a day out and a picnic at Easton Farm Park, is a must.
