Windermere lake cruises sail daily between Bowness, Ambleside and Lakeside, where you can also board the Haverthwaite steam train. In the centre of Bowness, there is the World of Beatrix Potter, the home of Peter Rabbit and friends. Golf, horse riding are also available locally. The Windermere ferry from Bowness to Far Sawrey takes 10 minutes and runs daily every 30 minutes; from here you can walk to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s former home, and now run by the National Trust, the Tower Arms in the village is also worth a visit for lunch! There are many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the cottage, some of which are dog friendly. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
