With off road private parking, step through the gate and follow stone steps down to your own private haven. At the front of the oak clad shepherd’s hut you have a large decked area, with seating to enjoy al fresco dining or simply to soak up the sunshine. Steps lead down from the decking to a lawned area, with a central fire pit, ideal for cosy nights beneath the stars. The dark skies here; away from light pollution, are incredible for star gazing. Over the fit pit you can BBQ or use the tripod cooker provided. An added unique feature is an outdoor projector screen, giving you the opportunity to have a movie night to remember. The wood-fired hot tub is sure to delight, it’s housed in a bespoke wooden enclosure. Guests can supply their own wood, or purchase this from the owner for £12 per bag with fire starters. Simply sit back in the heated water and relax as you listen to the bird song as well as the babbling stream nearby.
    For invigorating cold-water therapy, there is an outdoor shower which is incredibly refreshing after a soak in the hot tub. Inside The Engine Shed you have a carefully considered layout, which maximises the space, making the interior feel more spacious than expected. With a well equipped yet compact kitchen, complete with a dining table for four. You are sure to be toasty on even the chilliest of evenings, as this hand crafted Yorkshire hut is fully insulated, and has both electric heating as well as a wood burning stove. The beds are made of double bunks, welcoming up to two adults and two children, with inviting high quality linen bedding. There is a separate shower room next door, which has an eco toilet as well as an electric shower. Eco friendly complementary toiletries are provided.
    Tucked away from the rest of the world, The Engine Shed is surrounded by nature, yet just steps away from the village complete with a convenient train station as well as a large play area which children are sure to enjoy.
    The train line runs from the city of Middlesborough to the delightful coastal town of Whitby, which makes a fabulous day out. Not only are your dogs welcome to join you on your stay, but also horses! There is a stable and field opposite, which can be booked by prior arrangement with the owner. There are some fabulous hacking trails nearby, as well as walking and cycle trails. You can also book guided cycle, horse riding and walking tours, private yoga and paddle boarding lessons, or even indulge in some pampering with a massage. Plus the owners have the option of adding a breakfast hamper or even a home made stew which will be warming over the fire on your arrival, adding a fabulous personal touch to your stay and all using fresh local ingredients.
