With a superb mix of coast and countryside, Ceredigion is a large and beautiful place to visit. Award-winning beaches, perfect coves, iconic castles and pretty harbours make days out by car or on foot along the 60 miles of Heritage coastline a must. This region inspired Dylan Thomas to write some of his finest poetry. It is framed by the Cambrian Mountains, known as the backbone of Wales, and is so rich in wildlife, legends and fascinating landscapes. Look out for birds of prey such as red kites and buzzards soaring high above, and dolphins or seals in the waters. Drive along the Plynlimon Mountains, through the Tywi Forest or visit the impressive Abergwesyn Pass, and marvel at the solitude.

For a truly authentic Welsh family holiday experience, this is the area to be. The locals are justifiably proud of this region with its rich local folklore which tells of tricking the devil, mermaids, shipwrecked kings and princesses, and even an explanation of why gulls sound as if they’re crying. The little gems of Georgian Aberaeron, historic Cardigan, salty New Quay, traditional Tregaron and Lampeter are waiting to be explored. To the south, the coves of Mwnt, Cwmtydu, Penbryn, Tresaith – which resemble illustrations from books about pirates, are all within easy reach. To the north, around Aberystwyth and Borth, there are vast stretches of sand. No visit to the area would be complete without a ride on the steam railway. From the coast at Aberystwyth, watch the scenery change whilst travelling through ancient woodland and rugged mountain scenery, with the line clinging to the hillside to reach Devil’s Bridge, home of the famous Mynach Falls and Devil’s Punchbowl. The picturesque harbour towns of Newquay and Aberaeron offer unblemished beaches, restaurants, boutique shopping and art galleries that are waiting to be explored. Away from the coast, Ceredigion’s countryside is just as promising, with an array of charming market towns and historic castles dotted around the county. For an adventurous day out, take a short drive to the rugged Cambrian Mountains and explore the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, which flourishes with wildlife and the historic ruins of Strata Florida Abbey, which is one of Wales’ most important historical sites. Situated in a peaceful location, Cwm Hyfryd is aptly name as it translates to ’delightful valley’. This spectacular, detached barn conversion, accessed by a farm track, has been cleverly planned to take advantage of the views as the living accommodation is on the first floor and opens out on to a balcony with table and chairs, the perfect spot for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
The interior of the barn is spacious and well-presented. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, it provides ample space for families or friends to spread out, and the open plan living space offers a sociable place to gather.
Step outside and you have a garden to enjoy, simply discover the many lanes and footpaths nearby. The small village of Cross Inn offers a pub and a village store. The nearest pretty secluded cove and beach at Cwmtydu can be reached within 3 miles, renowned for legends of smugglers and pirates, and where today, seals come to have their pups in early autumn. The unspoilt Ceredigion Coastal Path takes you over cliffs and through ancient woodland. The paths offer excellent walking opportunities and connect all the local beaches, many of which are dog friendly all year round if you are bringing your four-legged friend.
Delightful New Quay is also 2¼ miles away with its picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants. The town clings to the side of the hills rising above the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. It’s easy to understand why this area was such an inspiration to poet Dylan Thomas when he lived here. Often bottlenose dolphins can be spotted, and in season, dolphin survey boat trips are available from the sheltered harbour, or you can just enjoy the sandy beach, have an ice cream or fish and chips and watch the boats bobbing about.
Visit the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, the ancient town of Cardigan with its castle, or Aberystwyth with its promenade and pier, home to the world’s longest working electric cliff railway.

With the glorious beaches of Cardigan Bay just a short drive away, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. Paddle in the shallows, discover hidden coves or walk along pristine golden sands. From New Quay take a boat trip to spot dolphins or take in the views from a bracing cliff walk.
The bustling, picturesque seaside town of Aberaeron, with its colourful style architecture, boutique shops, art galleries, cafés/tearooms, and restaurants, is a short drive away or follow the old rail track into the town by foot or by bicycle.

These wonderfully converted farm buildings originally formed part of the grounds of Dolgoy Farm, a Gentleman’s Estate believed to have originated around 400 years ago and in its heyday was in excess of 200 acres. These charming holiday homes are positioned in a row and are nestled within the grounds of the owners’ 35-acre small-holding, amidst the peaceful sounds of rural life and just 2 miles from the coast. Each property overlooks a lovely pond, home to ducks and other wildlife.

Aptly named Galleri (ref UK31147) features a gallery with a reclining chair overlooking the living area. It has a seating area to the front looking across to the pond and a sunken garden with a private Jacuzzi hot tub to the rear, from which you can enjoy the tranquillity of Dolgoy, catch the sun or enjoy the starry skies.

Snuggle Cottage (ref PA2), one of a row, is a cosy, beamed stone cottage for two, with an open sitting area to the front of the cottage from which you can enjoy its tranquil surroundings as well as a pretty, private patio garden to the rear, with its own private hot tub, which catches the sun throughout the day.

Ponycob Cottage (ref PA6) is named after the Welsh name for pony; the larger Welsh cob, known for its hardiness and good temperament, historically used on the farm. This lovingly restored, semi-detached stone conversion features characterful beams, a private patio garden with its own Jacuzzi hot tub, and open seat area to the front within a truly peaceful setting.

The Coach House Loft (ref 30160) is set on the first floor and has been sympathetically created within the Coach House, also boasting a private patio garden with its own Jacuzzi hot tub.

The owners, who live adjacent to the properties, have lovingly renovated the buildings, and preserved their features and history whilst providing contemporary amenities and comfort. Beautifully renovated, decorated, furnished and equipped throughout to the highest residential standards complete with a truly fabulous double steam shower cubicle - massage jets and surround sound! Original slate floors lead from the hallway into the well appointed fitted kitchen/dining room which has a glass topped dining table and chairs designed by Ligne Roset. French doors open from the dining area onto a private enclosed patio and garden.
Aberaeron is a Georgian jewel with elegant colour washed houses surrounding the harbour - reputedly planned and designed by John Nash, with a shingle beach. There is a range of small, interesting shops, craft centres, pubs and restaurants. Nearby Cardigan Bay has lots to see and do in and around the town. With two beaches to enjoy, good launching for small boats from the harbour, boat trips to spot the marine life, sea angling, fishing for salmon/sea trout on the River Aeron or take a cycle ride along one of the 5 Wales Cycle Trails. Why not take a stroll along ’ Lover’s Walk’ past four weirs and along the river valley to Llanachaeron or try a coastal cliff top walk with stunning sea views and spectacular wild life.

The Tipis are situated on the owner’s 16-acre farmland, with sea views and beautiful meadows, forestry and waterfalls all on-site and within walking distance from the cottage – there are even pet lambs in the field. This is an ideal break away for a family or friends to enjoy this peaceful location, located just 2 miles from the fabulous quirky harbour towns of Aberaeron. Aberaeron retains its Georgian character with elegant brightly painted town houses and with a small harbour for yachts and fishing boats. Aberaeron is becoming something of a foodie pleasure. Stroll around the harbour along Quay Parade and enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the award-winning restaurants. The independent shops and craft centres are also a big hit amongst our guests. The town is right on the Wales Coast Path and The Coastal Way.
Ceredigion’s coast is also well-known for wildlife including the famous Cardigan Bay bottlenose dolphin pods, there are boat trips to explore the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast and the town features a Seafood Festival in July. From chilling out on the beach or enjoying a hearty harbour meal after a train ride Aberystwyth and Newquay which are a short drive offer traditional Welsh pubs, stylish restaurants and sandy beaches, where dolphins and porpoises are often spotted on a clear day. To the north are the famous slopes of Snowdon, offering breath-taking views with abundance of walks amidst the tumbling waterfalls, shimmering lakes with buzzards and peregrine falcons soaring high. The area is a natural playground for ramblers, mountain bikers and climbers alike.
The tipis consist of an open plan living/bedroom space with double bed, single sofa bed, a wood burning stove and externally there is a seating area with garden furniture and a fire pit. The kitchen is approximately 20 metres from the tipi with a fridge, freezer, sink, gas hob and microwave oven. The bathroom has a walk-in shower (wet room), again next to the kitchen area.
