Based in a rural setting on the owner’s farm, the surroundings give guests the feeling of peace and space while still being just a stone’s throw from the main town of Dartmouth itself. At the front of the property is a patio with seating, making this a great place to enjoy looking out across the rolling nearby fields with a morning coffee or a late-night glass of wine.
Upon entering the property on the ground floor are the three bedrooms. One bedroom contains twin single beds, another with a kingsize bed with its own en-suite shower room, and the final bedroom again contains a kingsize bed with access to the main bathroom from the bedroom and the hallway. Upstairs then leads to the large open plan living/dining/kitchen area, with high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light, this space feels spacious, bright and airy. Here the kitchen is well-equipped, just next to the dining area with table and chair seating and a cosy wood burner in the living space with Smart TV and sofa seating.
The main town of Dartmouth is just a 10-minute drive away, as are the local supermarkets and petrol stations, just a 5-minute drive in the same direction. The popular Dartmouth golf club is only an 8-minute drive in the opposite direction, as is the family fun adventure park, Woodlands. Guests wanting to venture further afield can take the ferry from Dartmouth acrpss to Kingswear and onto the famous fishing town of Brixham, or alternatively drive into the market town of Totnes and explore the rest of the South Hams
Beautiful local beaches include Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands which stretches for three miles along the coast, part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Away from the coast take a trip to the wild beauty of Dartmoor, 40 minutes’ drive away. Regardless of the nature of your visit, Tawny Cottage is a fantastic place to start.

To relax those aching muscles after a busy day sightseeing, you can retire to your very own private hot tub with unobstructed sea views over Saundersfoot Bay, Monkstone Point and Caldey Island watching the sun drop on those balmy summer days and observing the many stars overhead.

Within a 10-minute walk you can be rambling on the coastal path through Wisemans Bridge and on to the harbour town of Saundersfoot, where you can enjoy a host of restaurants specialising in local produce and hand-caught fish, or fresh fish and chips on the harbour wall. A 10-minute drive from Caldey View brings you to the sandy beaches in Tenby, and nearby you can enjoy quad biking, fishing, golf, boat trips and a host of wildlife along this ‘picture postcard’ coastline. A must is a visit to Wigtown, which is famous for being Scotland’s National Book Town, a book lovers haven. The Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point and home to the RSPB nature reserve, where thousands of seabird’s nests on the cliff face during spring and summer is definitely worth a visit. The Bunker is a beautifully converted World War II operations bunker, which now provides unique, comfortable holiday accommodation. It is set in glorious countryside and just a short distance from the famous open air Minack Theatre, Porthcurno Beach, the wide white sandy beach of Sennen and the Legendary Lands End. It’s a great spot for exploring the delights of West Cornwall, including the picturesque valley at Lamorna Cove, the quaint harbour and village of Mousehole, plus the fishing harbour at Newlyn.
The bustling town of Penzance and the historic town of Marazion, home of St Michaels Mount which rises from the sea like a fairytale castle, can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide and small ferry at high tide. Take the scenic coastal train from St Erth to St Ives or take a day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly from nearby Lands End airport or the Scillonian Ferry from Penzance.
