Kiki’s Yearly Round-Up of Fun-Filled Adventures

As 2023 has progressed Kiki, the pet inspector, has continued her captivating journeys visiting PetsPyjamas’ gorgeous properties – from the seaside at Sussex to Wiltshire’s mesmerising meadows, the beaches in the Isle of Wight, climbing up fells in the Lake District to the lush valleys of Wales. She has been truly spoiled and looked after – with toys, treats and gourmet meals plus a wonderful doggie welcome. Here are the destinations that stole her heart.

Bailiffscourt Hotel, Sussex: Medieval Magic

Bailiffscourt Hotel is where history meets canine luxury. As I trotted through its medieval-inspired halls, I felt like I’d embarked on a time-travelling adventure. The expansive estate was my playground; every nook and cranny presenting intriguing scents and sights. The staff were devoted to ensuring that my stay was as regal as the surroundings. I was showered with toys and treats and the grounds were fabulous to explore, and I loved my walks down to Climping Beach.

Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa, Wiltshire: Elegant Estates

Whatley Manor is a wonderfully luxurious manor house – located amidst the enchanting Wiltshire countryside, this hotel exudes charm and sophistication. While humans rave about the spa, for me, the vast manicured gardens where I frolicked off the lead stole the show. My mornings were spent chasing butterflies and enjoying the serenading melodies of songbirds and I even had my own canine concierge, who recommended the best trails and local doggie attractions. I had a super comfy dog bed and snoozed while the humans enjoyed their Michelin-starred meal and I especially loved my visit to Westonbirt Arboretum.

Pale Hall, Wales: A Fairytale Destination

When I crossed over to Wales, little did I know that Pale Hall would resemble a page from a storybook. Nestled amidst the serene Welsh valleys, this Victorian mansion is a world in itself. My suite overlooked the pristine Dee River, and each day was a visual treat. I loved the Pet Welcome Pack with gourmet treats –  they truly knew the way to a dog’s heart. The woodland gardens were perfect for my daily frolics where I even made friends with another Norfolk terrier staying there. I also loved being invited to the Champagne Sunday lunch.

Glassonby Old Hall, Rowley Estates, Lake District

To celebrate the human’s birthday I took a trip with them to stay at luxurious Glassonby Old Hall, a gorgeously restored 4 bedroomed 15th-century Cumbrian longhouse that is perfectly placed to explore both the Lake District and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An endless number of wooftastic long walks awaited me and there were beautiful views in every direction. The house is really lovely and remote and one of several luxury properties in the area owned by The Rowley Estates.  I loved the spacious kitchen and made sure my bed was put next to the Aga – perfect for a  quiet snooze after our many walks. Denise’s daughter’s dog Lulu came too so we had lots of fun climbing up Hallin Fell, Cat Bells, and visits to the fabulous Langhorne Estate and even a train trip to Settle!  We also enjoyed our trips to the nearby village of Glastonbury and especially to the local pub, The Fetherston Arms where we got lots of treats and plenty of attention from the locals!

Luccombe Manor Country House Hotel, The Isle of Wight

My most recent trip was a whimsical journey to Luccombe Manor in the enchanting Isle of Wight. The adventure commenced with a breezy ferry trip over the sparkling waters, where I spent the whole journey looking out to sea. Dogs really are the focus at Luccombe Manor and I received a wonderful welcome from the dog-loving staff to the other furry guests I befriended, sharing playful moments on the sprawling lawns. The mornings were a treat as I was pampered with a succulent sausage at breakfast and rubbed noses with a cockerpoo on the next table. I especially loved running up and down the steps at the nearby Shanklin Chine making my way down to the beach and exploring many other beaches on the island too. In the bedroom, I snuggled into my lovely bed and blanket and there were toys and treats too.  I really felt special and totally at home! The setting means that you don’t have to venture far to be out in nature on a dog walk.  The well-manicured gardens proved to be the perfect playground for me to chase the wind and play with my fellow furry guests.

Kiki really enjoyed her visits to all these hotels. Each destination, with its unique character, ensured that she had a wonderful time. From the picturesque settings, delectable meals, and attentive staff, to the thoughtfully curated dog amenities, and fabulous doggie maps with dog walks nearby – everything was a testament to the lengths these hotels go to make their canine guests feel truly special.

2023 has been a rollercoaster of delightful experiences, making my tail wagging experiences. “I can’t wait to see where my next set of adventures take me. Until then, fellow furry wanderers, may your journeys be filled with sniffs, snuggles, and an abundance of treats!”
