The dog-friendly Three Crowns in Chagford is a beautiful part thatched 5 star inn set in the heart of Dartmoor in the charming town of Chagford, set in pretty, rolling countryside with wonderful walks and open moors for you and your best furry friend to explore. Originally an old manor house belonging to Sir John Whyddon, the Inn dates back to the 13C and features beamed ceilings and huge inglenook fireplaces.

There’s a glass atrium and stunning courtyard garden perfect for al fresco dining with your dog. There are six dog-friendly en suite boutique bedrooms which blend characterful touches with modern style. Your dog will love cosying up in front of the log fire in the traditional front bar where they serve delicious local dishes and wine.. And as well as the myriad of walks of Dartmoor on the doorstep, other local dog-friendly attractions include Stone Lane Gardens and Drogo Castle.

You can dine with your dog in the bar area which is full of character as well as the library and snug. The Inn offers an extensive menu with regularly changing special dishes. Most dishes are sourced from local produce with ingredients grown, reared or sourced locally - the Sunday roasts are a must. Doggie dinners are also available too plus doggie treats in the bar and if you fancy a change of scene all the local pubs in and around Chagford are dog-friendly too.

There are six, dog-friendly en-suite boutique bedrooms - some are conveniently located with direct access to the courtyard. The rooms, which have been recently refurbished, are super comfortable and blend character with modern design. Most of these bedrooms are . In each bedroom, you will find a contemporary en-suite, a divinely comfortable Vi-Spring bed, flat-screen TV, internet connectivity, bottled water, bathrobes and i-pod docking stations. In the bathrooms there are complimentary Duck Island toiletries, a company committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. Their packaging, bottles and caps are recyclable.

Chagford is surrounded by some of Dartmoor’s most spectacular scenery, with wonderful walking opportunities for you and your dog. Meldon Hill is one of our favourite spots on Dartmoor - you can take a path up out of the town and you will be rewarded with wonderful panoramic views at the top. Beyond are Kes Tor and Fernworthy Forest, with direct access to the open moors. And to make things easier the Inn has a map of circular walks in the area of varying lengths and difficulty which start at the front door. There is also a town trail of Chagford. Also visit dog-friendly Stone Lane Gardens, just a five minute drive away with five acres of woodland for you and your dog to explore as well as Castle Drogo which also offers wonderful woodland walks.
