About this property

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of beautiful North Devonshire, The Mole is a brand-new resort offering fabulous dog-friendly stays and active days for you and your best furry friend. Set on a 125-acre estate of stunning Devonshire countryside near the village of Chittlehamholt, this is a delightful destination for a dog-friendly holiday.

All these stylish, new eco-conscious lodges are dog-friendly and have private hot tubs and there are pet-friendly guest rooms split across the Manor House and the estate itself. Originally a family home, the estate has retained the history, heritage and nature of the home and grounds.

Across the estate, there are several dining options for you and your four-legged friend - including eating in your lodge, or in one of the two dog-friendly restaurants on the estate - the Cellars Bar and the Bistro which serve up only the most delicious, locally sourced produce – a true taste of Devon!

As well as a warm doggie welcome, furry friends can expect a doggy welcome pack including treats and a toy and there is even an outdoor heated dog washing area for muddy paws. Your dog will love exploring the estate as well as the wonderful walking trails with the South West Coast Path within easy reach and there are a myriad of other activities to be enjoyed with a swimming pool, gym classes, croquet, golf and football available on the estate.

Dine with Your Dog

You can dine with your dog in your lodge or in the Cellars Bar - the perfect spot for a pint, a Mole Ale or a cocktail or two and there is also a wide array of locally produced spirits, beers and ciders offering the very best of Devonshire produce. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper or a Devonshire afternoon cream tea at the Cellars Bar where Chef Stephen Walker brings flair and elegance whilst celebrating the seasons, the menu is bursting with flavours of the Southwest. The Bistro Is another dog-friendly option for lunch, serving up a wide range of delicious dishes including focaccia toasties and salads alongside decadent dessert. Enjoy dining on the terrace with great views of the estate. (The Bistro is currently closed – guests can have lunch in Cellars Bar until this reopens).

Best in Show

Why do you think you are the best in your nominated category?

The Mole Resort is a true playground for pet lovers, offering a comprehensive range of pet-friendly amenities and experiences that make it the ideal destination for furry friends and their owners. We have easy access to an almost unlimited amount of dog walking trails as we’re surrounded by the stunning Devon countryside as well as being based on a 125 acre site. We have a range of pet friendly accommodation to nestle down into, from hotel rooms to beautiful eco conscious 4 bedroom lodges with views over Mole Valley. Every accommodation comes with a welcome pack for your furry friend, including plant based treats, dog bowl & towel, sustainable waste bags, hemp toy & blanket. All of which can be taken home with you. Our lodges also benefit from a warm outdoor tap to wash those muddy paws after exploring our wonderful surroundings. Dogs are welcome in most of our restaurants and indoor public areas. We’re also expanding our menu to include pet friendly options, meaning not only can your dog join you at dinner time, they can also enjoy it.

Why do you love being a dog-friendly hotel?

We believe that pets are part of the family so it’s a joy to us to see not only adults and children enjoying our resort, but also their beloved pets, as a family. Making memories is for everyone, not just the humans. We love pets so much that we aim to promote pet inclusivity and hope we can set an example to be truly dog friendly rather than just pets allowed. We also love to see dog lovers come together; we’ve seen a real sense of community around the resort.
