About this property

This characterful hotel offers amazing sea views, plenty of dog-friendly extras, a swimming pool, plus wonderful walks and beaches close by, including a beach just below the hotel which your dog will love.

Luccombe Manor is a super dog-friendly country house hotel with a clifftop setting and four acres of stunning gardens for you and your dog to explore.  Built around 1870 as a grand Gentleman’s residence, Luccombe Manor retains many of its characterful, original Victorian features such as decorative architraves and ornate ceilings in the public areas.

The hotel is situated in the quaint Old Village of Shanklin, with gorgeous sea views over Sandown Bay and is also close to some of the best dog-friendly beaches on the island including Shanklin beach, and Colwell Bay. You can dine with your dog in the doggy dining room and the hotel also offers a myriad of extras including a doggie welcome pack, dog beds and blankets, a dog wash station with towels, doggie treats and there’s even a doggy shop with a range of toys and treats. The hotel has a pool and you can walk directly from the hotel to the dog-friendly beach below.

Dine with Your Dog

You can dine with your dog for breakfast in the Appley Restaurant and in the evening you can dine in the GrandView Restaurant at the adjoining Luccombe Hall Hotel in the doggie dining area. Head Chef James Elliott oversees a daily three course menu featuring local and seasonal ingredients and British and European cuisine. If you would rather eat without your dog, well behaved dogs can stay in their room. Most local pubs and restaurants in the area are very dog friendly.

Bow wow factor

Must be the wonderfully warm welcome your dog will receive at the hotel along with all the many doggy extras including a doggy restaurant and a sausage for breakfast. Also its proximity to fabulous walks and dog-friendly beaches.

Most Breathtaking View

Why do you think you are the best in your nominated category?

We love our view. We are perched on the cliff top in Shanklin with views across the sweeping Sandown Bay. From our conservatory and seafacing rooms, guests can look out across the sea to East Sussex in the distance. There is always an interesting selection of boats to be seen. The view is as beautiful on a clear summers day as on a stormy winters evening. Guests wanting to take a closer look can use the tourist telescope in our summer house “The Lookout” which also has a webcam on top, taking in all the action in The Bay. As Queen Victoria once said about the Island “it would be impossible to imagine a prettier spot”. We wholeheartedly agree.

Why do you love being a dog-friendly hotel?

We love being dog friendly. There are always new characters to meet and give tummy rubs to. The addition of dogs, makes for a lovely atmosphere and also makes it a really friendly place to stay and work. Meeting new dogs is an automatic conversation starter and its so lovely to see our guests (both furry and human) making friends with each other. It’s never a boring day at the office when you never know what new pup is going to stroll through the front doors next. Directors Clare and Steve have 10 dogs between them so they know what little things can make a big difference to a dog owners stay. We love thinking up new ideas to improve the guest experience for both dogs and their owners such as a warm water outside shower for muddy paws and boots and the new doggy Kitchen with everything you need to prepare and store your dogs food.
