The result is a charming getaway home for up to six people to enjoy time exploring the beautiful surroundings of the Broughton Sanctuary and the glorious Yorkshire countryside and attractions beyond. Located within the grounds of Broughton Hall, the property features spacious living and ample outdoor space. The ground floor is accessed via the kitchen door and is comprised of a downstairs bedroom (double or twin), kitchen, dining room, sitting room, shower room and toilet. On the first floor you’ll find two bedrooms (double or twin) and two bathrooms, each with a shower and bath. Outside the property are its original outbuildings and a pleasant garden area overlooking peaceful woodlands. As part of your stay, you’ll have free, exclusive access to England’s largest rewilding estate. So you can spend time together in nature, wandering ancient woodlands, cycling moorland trails, or enjoying picnics by the riverside. It’s a country getaway like no other.
For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. This stone-built characterful barn conversion is tucked away on a working farm, close to the famous Yorkshire landmark Kilnsey Crag. This ‘upside down’ traditional property with the open plan lounge/kitchen on the first floor, is located on the historic Kilnsey Park Estate which offers a great range of activities including horse and pony trekking, fly fishing and angling on their well-stocked lakes. Guests can even enjoy a 10% discount at the trout fishery. There is also a discovery trail with a host of things for children to see and do including alpacas, red squirrels, pigs, angora goats and lambs. There is a popular café and gift shop on site, and also a small shop which caters for basic essentials. Outside there is private patio seating and guests can enjoy the use of a tennis court.
Many of the Dales’ most famous tourist locations are just on your doorstep. Grassington is just a short drive away and offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and its old cobbled square features an annual festival in summer where you can be entertained by some very famous names, and the popular Dickensian weekends at Christmas. The bustling market town of Skipton is approximately 12 miles away and has an award-winning high street with shops, a regular street market, pubs and restaurants, overlooked by a Norman castle. The canal runs through here and offers day trips by traditional barge. The town also has a golf course and indoor swimming pool.

The Shippen provides comfortable accommodation for up to six guests in three cosy bedrooms. This countryside getaway is located on a working farm, where you can enjoy the tranquil sound of the river and the different farm animals in the surrounding area. Ideally situated in the quiet yet historic village of Barden, a stone’s throw away from the famous Bolton Abbey, The Shippen provides everything you need to enjoy your time away. Upon arrival you are greeted by an allocated parking area for up to three cars and then head to the rear garden where you can soak up the view from the bubbling hot tub. An allocated enclosed field has kindly been prepared for your furry friends to keep them away from livestock on the farm.
On entering the property, you are greeted by a fully fitted kitchen offering everything you need to rustle up those home cooked meals. Not fancy cooking? Why not treat yourself at a local restaurant or café a short drive away. Wander up the small step to find a cosy living room featuring a wood burner and comfy sofas. Relax and enjoy the warmth of the fire as you watch your favourite show or movie on the TV after a long day exploring the area. When sleep calls, you have three bedrooms to choose from, all situated on the first floor. One of the two bathrooms can also be found on this floor the other is on the ground floor.

Whether you wander beside the river, cross the exposed purple heights of the heather moorland or explore the woodland nature trails, there is something for everyone. Explore Bolton Abbey and the infamous Strid - a notorious stretch of deep water where the River Wharfe is forced into a hidden, thundering channel; or enjoy the unique botanical gardens at nearby Parceval Hall and explore the mysterious Troller’s Gill.
