Situated just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Grassington, it is on the Dales Way and so well placed for both long hill walking and easier riverside walking straight from the door.
Take advantage of Grassington’s wide selection of pubs, restaurants and cafés, together with interesting independent shops, or in the local town hall, you can play snooker or badminton. A little further afield lies the bustling market town of Skipton, where you can enjoy canal cruises, golf, or the indoor swimming pool. Although there are no great views from inside the property, the secluded and cosy interior, large communal kitchen, and great village location with parking for two cars, more than compensates. It is ideal for walkers and their dogs, small families, or perfect for two couples as they would each have their own shower or bathroom. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also enclosed paddock where your dogs can run free! Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. These semi-detached farmhouses The Barnhouse (ref W42980) and The Farmhouse (ref W42979) have been carefully co-ordinated throughout and are set within the grounds of the Caravan Club site in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As such, they enjoy breath-taking views of the surrounding open countryside.
Walk direct from the door over the nearby moors or take a 5-minute stroll into the nearby traditional market town of Hawes. Here you will find a good mix of shops with something for everyone including antiques, traditional country clothing, fashion and gift shops interspersed with tea shops, restaurants and pubs. Alternatively visit the Wensleydale Creamery, famous for its cheese endorsed by Wallace and Gromit or visit the Dales Centre Museum. Nearby Semerwater, a large, natural lake provides a wealth of activities such as swimming, fishing (licence required) and sailing. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The Old Chapel is well-positioned in the quiet village of Thoralby, set just off the village green. The property boasts the traditional features of the original chapel, including windows and exposed wooden beams. The property has been furnished to a good standard and provides rural accommodation for families and couples alike. The bedrooms are spacious, and there is a large games room that is positioned in the roof of the chapel. Situated in the living room, a feature wood burner makes this property perfect for the colder, winter months. After a busy day exploring this delightful location, head back to the property, and snuggle into the comfortable sofas, where you can watch the flames dance around the fire.
This property provides idyllic accommodation for walking or cycling enthusiasts, with many routes available close by. This area provides a paradise for bird watchers, with birds of prey, owls, oyster catchers, lapwing and grouse. If you love to be outdoors, then this property is the perfect base for you. Watch the abundance of wildlife nearby, including red squirrel, hare and deer. For a more relaxed day, the popular market towns of Hawes and Leyburn are a short drive away. Entrance to the house is via a boot room, ideal for sorting your muddy boots, coats and dogs after a busy day exploring the Dales. Upstairs, you’ll be wowed by 360 degree views of the valley with each window framing a different part, immersing you in one of the most spectacular and beautiful limestone landscapes in the country, whilst snuggled up in front of the wood burner.
The open plan living space on the first floor features a brand new, fully fitted kitchen with Bosch appliances, as well as a dining area and living area. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. Outside, the garden has been beautifully landscaped to create two sitting areas at either side of the house so you can follow the sun all day. There is a garage, perfect for storing your bikes.
The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Fox and Hounds is the heart of the local community, offering high quality, hearty dining, with well-kept local ales in a relaxed, dog friendly atmosphere. The area is ideally located for exploring by car, walking and cycling.
There are many walks right from your very doorstep including the Dales Way, accessed by a connecting footpath leading down to the River Wharfe, which is just 300 yards away. The area is also a mecca for cyclists with the Tour De Yorkshire route having run through locally. Other country pursuits such as fishing, rock climbing and even pony trekking are all available nearby. The popular town of Grassington is just a 15-minute drive away and plays host to events all year round including a Summer Arts Festival with famed singers, presenters, poets and authors, and a winter Dickensian Festival to capture the spirit of Christmas.
The bustling market town of Skipton, 16 miles or 30 minutes drive away, has a great selection of shops and cafés, alongside delightful bars and restaurants dotted along cobbled streets. From here, you can tour the amazing Norman castle and take a boat trip along the canal. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forest of Bowland and Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive.
