    Up on the first floor you have the most incredible master bedroom featuring that bath, as well as a king-size bed and a separate ensuite room with a toilet and washbasin. Each bedroom is beautifully themed and named after different nearby dales: Rosedale – just to the North, the heart of the moors, Farndale – renowned for the blankets of daffodils that stretch out along the river through the spring, and Ryedale – which makes up the Vale of Pickering to the south.
    Within Lastingham there is a historic church, several holy wells, and a village hall where community events, all open to visitors, are held. The Blacksmith’s Arms is extremely popular with locals and travellers alike for the quality and value of their food. Dogs are welcome in their large beer garden which has shelters and heaters, and a wood-fired pizza oven.
    Lastingham is two miles from Hutton-le-Hole, creating a popular circular walk. That picturesque village has a deli/bakery, pub, teashops, craft workshops and the Ryedale Folk Museum. Nearby are the market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering - all with attractive market squares, independent shops and quaint tea rooms. Malton, Yorkshire’s Food Capital, is only half an hour away, with regular markets and festivals.
    The heritage steam railway from Pickering passes through Goathland and Grosmont on its way to Whitby – all great for a stop. English Heritage properties nearby include the castles at Pickering and Helmsley, the superb Rievaulx Abbey and Wheeldale Roman Road. Castle Howard, Eden Camp, the National Centre for Birds of Prey, and the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall are also popular attractions within easy reach.
    Less than an hour away you have the incredible Yorkshire Coastline to discover, with picturesque villages and towns, golden sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore.
