Boating at Burton – Launching facilities 200 yards, floating pontoon 50 yards and many boat trips available along the river including Shearwater Safaris and Cleddau Cruises from Neyland Marina 2½ miles away. The small town of Neyland is just 2½ miles away with an excellent traditional butchers shop, newsagent, pharmacy, card shop and Post Office. The nearest big supermarkets and banks are in Pembroke Dock 2 miles away over the Cleddau bridge. Beach 7 miles. Pub and restaurant 12 yards.

Some parts of the cottage are detailed in history and formerly part of the stables of Carew Castle. This cottage comes from a happy family home for over 30 years. The owners have successfully retained the character and charm of the cottage combining modern touches which reflect their personal taste.

Step inside to enjoy the ambience, design and history within the old walls. You sure will be smitten with the design of the interior. Walk through the vestibule, take a step into the games room which is an attractive room featuring exposed stone walls with table tennis and a sofa area. A joyful living room combining bright colours with traditional features. During the chillier evenings, enjoy the toasty wood burner which is housed in the inglenook fireplace. Your glances will be drawn towards the attractive windows right by the dining room. Take a short walk up three steps to be joined by an airy dining room flooded with natural light through the featured atrium. Enjoy some time together around the large pine table, or through the Georgian styled doors that lead to a patio area, perfect for breakfasts in the Pembrokeshire air. Its traditional cottage kitchen has exposed beams and is full of character including reclaimed slate worktops, a rustic wooden island and shelves filled with artefacts, crockery and utensils. Peep through the shuttered window to the open garden. Climb the feature spiral staircase to the three appointed en-suite bedrooms in the presence of beams and traditional wooden floors. Wooden furniture and doors with thumb latches take you back in time, but with the high-quality beds adorned with cotton linen and furnishings perfect for a restful night’s sleep.

The enclosed grounds provide a tranquil retreat, a lawned area in the shade of the large apple tree, which has spectacular views of Carew Castle. Ideal spot for an afternoon Pimms. A short walk from the cottage is the river dominated by the 13th-century castle, which has a busy programme of pageants and re-enactments during the summer months. Lawrenny Quay is one of the most scenic stretches of the estuary, providing a tranquil location for boaters and walkers alike. Just a short walk to the Waterside pub where you can enjoy a drink, and which boasts a spacious beer garden with splendid views over the water towards Carew Castle and serves freshly prepared food and fine ales. The multi-award winning tea room nearby enjoys a unique setting on the point at Lawrenny Quay offering local produce including lobster and crab - a great place to watch the yachts go by.

The real stand out feature in this property is the cinema room, with seating for everyone to relax and enjoy a movie in front of the 100 inch projector screen, this room also doubles up as a playroom. A separate games room with multi-functional 7ft games table for pool and air hockey, and a separate foosball table. The game/cinema rooms can be found in the annex above the garage - Please note that elderly, small children and those with limited mobility may need assistance and support with some of the stairs. This leisure area is accessed through the courtyard area of the property and also houses a ground floor accessible bedroom and wet room. Whilst this bedroom is accessible, the main house ground floor does have a couple of steps to navigate, blocks to make a ramp will be available. Please note the doorways into the main house measure 80cm in width. The main house has a separate lounge with ample comfy seating and warming log burner perfect for those chillier evenings. A fully equipped kitchen and dining room with space for all the family to sit and enjoy an evening meal. The bedrooms have been stylishly furnished in a boutique style with quality mattresses and furnishings.
Porthmadog is a busy harbour town, home to the Welsh Highland Steam Railway. Within easy reach is Black Rock Sands where you’ll find miles of sweeping sands and dunes, and Portmeirion, an enchanting Italian-style village. A short drive is Harlech with its imposing Castle and extensive beach. Nearby Blaenau Ffestiniog, an adrenaline junkie’s delight with Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world, Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and the Stiniog mountain bike trails. The area has something for everyone of all ages, from scenic walking routes, bike trails, epic climbing, to a whole host of water sports on offer. Beach 1 mile. Pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Dyffryn Haidd sits in a glorious position in the little village of Llanafan, boasting wonderful views across the fields and hills. Saint Afan was thought to have founded the settlement here in the 7th century. Dyffryn Haidd is a beautifully presented, detached dormer bungalow perfect for a family break away. There is a large well fitted kitchen/dining room with a separate living room. Plus there is a ground floor twin bedroom and separate family bathroom with a luxurious spa bath. Upstairs there are two further en-suite bedrooms. Both children and adults alike will also undoubtedly enjoy playing table tennis and darts in the converted garage.
The whole area is blessed with an abundance of walks and cycle trails, many taking in the sights where the TV detective series ‘Hinterland’ is filmed. Guided Hinterland walks are also available to book locally. The scenery within the Cambrian Mountains is unsurpassed and a must do is a trip along the Vale of Rheidol steam railway from Devil’s Bridge, just 5 miles away. You will also find a pub, café, a small chocolate factory and shop here. The steam railway meanders to the coastal town of Aberystwyth, travelling through the Rheidol Valley.
The seaside town of Aberystwyth offers an array of shops, restaurants and cafés, as well as the pier and promenade. To the north end of the sea front is the Victorian Cliff Railway, taking passengers on the stately journey to the summit of Constitution Hill, where you can enjoy a coffee whilst taking in the magnificent views of Cardigan Bay. Being a university town, there’s a very good arts centre and theatre, and the national Library of Wales offers free guided tours. If it’s beaches you’re after then Ceredigion has a stunning selection and over 60 miles of coastal path too. At the northern end of the superb Borth beach, is the impressive sand dune system of the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve and visitor centre, which juts out halfway across the Dovey Estuary. Visit Ynys-Hir, the RSPB wildlife haven and the Dyfi Osprey Project.
Dyffryn Haidd is just 9 miles away from the historic market town of Tregaron, which was once famous as a strategic point for drovers taking animals from west Wales to the markets in England. Today it is a centre for ‘Trotian’ - horse trotting and carriage racing which attracts competitors from all over the UK and Ireland for its events. It is also the home to the Welsh Gold Centre which sells Celtic inspired designs. Tregaron is a ’walkers are welcome’ town and the annual Bro Tregaron Walking Festival held in May is a firm favourite on the walking calendar.

To the rear and side of the property are woodland grounds, some of which is steep and has steep drops – please supervise all children when playing in the woodland area. There are floodlights situated on each corner of the property so if you arrive in the dark you will be able to see all of the grounds.
There are lots of walks to be had in the local area. You can walk along Barmouth viaduct and down the delightful Mawddach Trail, which runs alongside the Mawddach Estuary, to the pretty town of Dolgellau along the course of an old railway line. From Barmouth you can explore the coastline by train too. Head north to Harlech with its magnificent castle, brooding over the village, whilst to the south is Llwyngwril, home to an annual Yarnbombing project. Further south is Tywyn, home of the Talyllyn Railway, where you can enjoy a ride on a narrow gauge steam train into the hills to Nant Gwernol. Above Barmouth is Dinas Oleu, the first part of land to be given to the National Trust and the views are well worth the steep climb. If you’re into adrenaline activities, be sure to visit Blaenau Ffestiniog and Zip World, home to the largest zip wire zone in the world, and Bounce Below, the only place you are ever likely to bounce on trampoline nets in an underground slate cavern the size of St Paul’s Cathedral.
