Upon entering the front door of this flint-clad barn conversion, you will find an open concept living area that contains a fully equipped kitchen as well as a living and dining area. Featuring granite worktops and country-style cabinets, the kitchen has all the amenities you could want. The dining area is perfect for a cosy evening meal, set in the middle of the room and made from original beams - it is a real feature in the room; a wood burner completes the room. The French doors lead out to a patio area where you can enjoy alfresco dining and drinking while enjoying the peace of the English country garden. Back inside the house, as you walk up the stairs to the second floor you will be blown away by the style and quality of fixtures and fittings. You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities in the area. It is a great location for walking or cycling, lying between the South Downs Way and Monarchs Way within the South Downs. There are many sites of historic or natural interest to visit, including the historic town of Arundel, Chactonbury and Cissbury Rings and the Weald and Downland Museum. Beaches and water sports are nearby at Worthing, Shoresham-by-sea, Ferring and Littlehampton, and shops and restaurants can be found locally in the village of Findon or further afield in Brighton or Horsham.

Located roughly 5 miles north of Worthing and set within the green and pleasant hills of the South Downs National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, “Manor Cottage” lies in the quaint west Sussex village of Findon.
The village has a popular range of shops, public houses and restaurants to visit and is also convenient for easy access to endless walking and riding via footpaths, bridlepaths and the South Downs Way. Findon is by-passed by the A24 and provides good access to London. You can spot the horses in action on the gallops. Walk part of the 100-mile South Downs Way with historic woodlands where you can smell the intoxicating scent of the bluebells in the spring. Look out for barn owls, kestrels, roe deer and red kites, and you may even be lucky enough to see hares boxing. Outdoor pursuits of paragliding, hang gliding, golf, zorbing, mountain boarding and water sports are all available nearby.
The coastal town of Worthing, where you can stroll along the promenade on the award-winning art deco pier, is 5 miles away. Other places to visit include RSPB Pulborough Brooks nature reserve, 8 miles, Parham House and Gardens, 7 miles, and Arundel with its historic castle, 10 miles. Set in most picturesque and private cottage gardens, this detached cottage is just two miles from Arundel and has an abundance of footpaths to the South Downs on the doorstep. From the gardens and upstairs windows there is the most glorious outlook and the garden beckons guests to relax and enjoy those lazy summer days. The cottage is bright and traditionally furnished and is a comfortable size for up to six guests. It has three upstairs bedrooms the master bedroom has a kingsize bed with an en-suite shower room. There is a raised path which guests need to take care when using that really open up the views over the Sussex Downs.

There are many attractive period properties in the village and it’s a delight to wander through, including the Norman Church of St Mary’s where you can walk through the church grounds and the views quickly open out onto the Arun Valley and the South Downs. This area is ideal for walking and from the lower slopes of the Downs there are wonderful views to the coast and to the east and west. Arundel two miles away is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle that can be seen to the south of Burpham. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. It’s a great place to visit and just enjoy the hospitality during any day of the week.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years and is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th Century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort. Beyond the castle grounds is Arundel Park which is clearly visible across the valley from the cottage. The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds lakes and reed beds at Arundel Wetland Trust attracts some of the world’s most spectacular ducks geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the pub for a bite to eat or just some liquid refreshments.

Further afield Climping Beach and Littlehampton’s West Beach are only a short drive away. This is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach. Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well. If you fancy a day in the city, Arundel mainline station is on a direct route to London so why not mix the cosmopolitan capital with this great place to stay.

Situated in the coastal town of Seaford, where you will find fish and chips, restaurants, bars, cafés, and a shopping area. Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is less than 15 miles away and the nearest airport is London Gatwick Airport. Brighton Pier is less than 15 miles, taking 30 minutes by car along the A259. Eastbourne Pier is just over ten miles away and takes approximately 25 minutes by car along the A259. There is a good bus route to both Brighton and Eastbourne. Seven Sisters national park is less than 10 miles away and there is a bus that takes you there. Great place for walking, cycling, wildlife spotting, kayaking and paddle boarding.
Drussillas Zoo park is within a 10-minute drive.
Cuckmere Valley has views of the Seven Sisters and has a flower-rich chalk grasslands, a haven for flowers and wildlife. A great spot for artists, bird watchers and photographers. Glyndebourne Opera House is only thirty minutes away where you can see some of the world’s best opera singers and operas. If you want to stay closer to home, Seaford seafront is 0.2 miles away and has free parking and in walking distance of the Seaford town. Beach 1 mile. Pub less than a mile. Other beauty spots and attractions nearby are Friston Forest Walks, Drusilla’s Zoo, Battle Abbey, Cuckmere Haven’s Sandy Beach and much more. For something different, Herstmonceux Castle, Battle Abbey and Glyndebourne are all nearby. You could take a ramble across the South Downs and stop off at an inn and unwind before heading back. The area is steeped in history with a Norman castle, historic houses and the Glyndebourne opera house a short drive away. Climb to the top of Lewes castle for panoramic views across Sussex and after a picnic in the gardens visit the museum of Sussex Archaeology. Alternatively, have a browse around Lewes town where you will find lots of restaurants, independent boutiques, art galleries, pubs, and antique shops. Beach 9½ miles.

Nestled in the rural downland village of Jevington with the South Downs Way passing on your doorstep, and the coast just a couple of miles away, this cottage has everything you need for a wonderful break. Brooke’s Cottage has an enviable position within the South Downs National Park with gorgeous views over the countryside.
The cottage has an open plan living area with double aspect views of the rolling hills, woodland, and garden. There is a leather sofa to relax on in the evenings and there is also a fitted kitchen area. The double bedroom is light and airy with lovely views and has compact en-suite facilities. The main entrance patio doors lead from the living area with steps down to the cottage’s private enclosed garden which has comfortable outside furniture to sit and enjoy the view. Or should you require some well-earned refreshment, the village pub is less than 100 yards away!
Herstmonceux Castle is a short drive away and offers 300 acres of woodland formal gardens and of course the 15th-century moated castle. The building at the time was the largest private home in England and since it adopted the French fashion of building in brick, the castle of Herstmonceux was unique. It is well worth a visit to learn a little about the history of the castle and relax before taking a gentle stroll around the formal gardens. Other attractions close by for your enjoyment include Glyndbourne with internationally renowned concerts and plays performed throughout the year, and Firle Place which is an outstanding privately owned country house in Sussex that dates from the time of Henry VIII. The house gardens and notable collection of works of art and porcelain are of national importance and will ensure a day to remember.
