Nestled in the Conwy valley, just down the road is Betws Y Coed the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. For the adventurous, you’ll find Surf Snowdonia, Tree Top Climbing and the Marin Bike trails of Gwydir Forrest all just a few miles away. In the opposite direction is the National Trust’s Bodnant Gardens, Conwy Vineyard, and the historic walled town of Conwy, which is home to a fabulous harbour and many historic buildings. You will be perfectly situated to explore the region.

Banc Llugwy is a wonderful holiday cottage, offering comfortable family accommodation in a great location. Inside you will be greeted by an immaculate and tastefully restored cottage, the kitchen/dining room is a fabulous entertaining space, well-equipped with everything you’ll need and more. Wander through to the enclosed, landscaped garden, a stunning spot to relax and enjoy the tree lined backdrop. The living room has a traditional wood burner with comfortable seating, a restful space to sit with a hot drink or a glass of wine, and chat about the day’s adventures. There really is everything you need within a few hundred yards walking distance from the cottage, pubs, restaurants, a local shop with bakery and some fabulous independent shops to peruse, not to mention a whole host of outdoor shops.
Only 2 miles away is Llyn (lake) Elsi, and Llyn Geirionydd is less than 6 miles away, where you can use kayaks and paddle boards. For cyclists the Marin bike trails at Gwydir are less than 4 miles away or take a walk to the picturesque Swallow Falls just 2 miles from the cottage. Just under 3 miles away you can find tree top climbing and a forest coaster ride! With Zip World and Bounce Bellow at Llechwedd Quarry just a 20 minutes’ drive away, you are sure of an epic experience. For the more intrepid adventurer, Pen Y Pass route for Mount Snowdon is only 10 miles away, with the more popular Llanberis route is 16 miles distant. Further down the coast less than a half hour drive away is the walled harbour town of Conwy, home to the smallest house in Britain and the imposing UNESCO world heritage site of Conwy Castle. In the other direction, just beyond the market town of Llanrwst, is Surf Snowdonia, the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon – worth popping in for a coffee to watch the surfing action! Further afield is historic Conwy with its majestic Edward I castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno offering the Great Orme and a whole host of family activities, from tramway and cable car rides, to the wonderful Venue Cymru theatre. Only 7 miles away is the fabulous beach of Dinas Dinlle. Caernarfon, with its array of independent shops and medieval castle where Prince Charles took his investiture, also within easy reach is Porthmadog with a pretty harbour and is also home to the Welsh Highland Railway. The other castles of Conwy, Criccieth and Harlech are also all within easy driving distance, as are the fantastic beaches and coastline of the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. Beach 7 miles.

Guests to Cefn Bach have free use of a nearby leisure centre (3 miles) with pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and multi-gym. Originally built in 1800, this detached farm cottage has been completely renovated, retaining its old charm whilst incorporating comforts. Part of a working farm (approached along a private road), it has its own garden and guests are free to explore the delightful farm trail.

The bay window is a lovely spot to enjoy watching the birds. Help yourself to the bird feed, please just replenish what you use so the next guests can enjoy too. It is in a rural location yet there’s a friendly pub only 3 miles away in Penmachno, along with small convenience store that’s open seven days of the week. A few minutes down the road is the Penmachno Bike Trails with 30km of trails suitable for all abilities, managed and set up by local volunteers and funded by donations. There are many walking routes with wonderful scenery to explore, you can even take a wander around the now disused slate quarry a short walk from the cottage, or for the more adventurous, why not delve below and take a tour into the caves with ’Go Below Underground Adventures’?
A short drive of ten minutes will take you to Betws-y-Coed known as the ‘gateway to the Snowdonia National Park’, a popular destination for all age groups. It’s a bustling spot with many highly rated eateries to enjoy, friendly pubs, some fabulous shops selling local items and various outdoor pursuit shops, and a Golf Club which welcomes visitors.
There are some very scenic walks straight from your doorstep, along rivers, waterfalls, Llyn (lake) Elsi sits above the village and is well worth the hike up. Just down the valley from Betws-y-Coed are the famous Marin Bike Trails, with colour coded routes suitable for all abilities. You’ll find a bike hire shop in Betws-y-Coed and at the nearby market town of Llanrwst; here you will also find a larger grocery store. Just up the road from the Marin Bike Trails is Llyn Geirionydd (Geirionydd Lake) this is a wonderful spot for a day out where you can use the lake to take a dip or use your paddle boards and kayaks; there are picnic benches available, parking and toilets.
Tree Top Adventures are nearby where you will find six adventures to choose from, some of which are tree hopping, a forest coaster and skyride (check out their website and be sure to book to avoid disappointment). 20 minutes’ drive from the cottage are Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog, another great day out for the kids and adults alike, with further activities for all interests such as deep mine tours, underground golf, ziplines and more.

This comfortable, detached cottage is set in a secluded location on the smallholding of Erw Goed, which sits peacefully within the Snowdonia National Park. Situated between the beautiful Mawddach Estuary and the foothills of Cadair Idris, just 3 miles from lovely sandy beaches at Fairbourne and Barmouth. The property is accessed by crossing some uneven ground and via a small footbridge over a stream. Guests have sole use of the ½-acre fenced garden with stream running through, there is a camp fire site available for outdoor cooking or camp fires, and guests are also welcome to explore Erw Goed’s 30 acres of gardens and unspoilt woodland and hill with spectacular views over the estuary. You can also meet the livestock including ducks, chickens, bees and sometimes pigs. The Mawddach Trail is easily accessible and the market town of Dolgellau is 6 miles away. Walking, pony trekking, fishing and golf are available locally. Coed-y-Brenin, 10 miles, is a renowned mountain biking centre. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
