Gloriously situated at the end of Bala Lake, this delightful holiday property, next door to the owners’ seasonal coffee shop, has a lovely decked area from which to admire the stunning views across Wales’ largest natural lake. Fishing is available on Bala Lake (or Llyn Tegid to give it its Welsh name) and a licence may be purchased locally. Stroll to the end of the lake and catch a narrow gauge steam train on the Bala Lake Railway, along the lake shore to the pretty village of Llanuwchllyn. The market town of Bala is close by and offers several pubs, restaurants and cafes within walking distance, as well as a nearby leisure centre and shopping facilities. Located in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, you can take the mountain road over to Lake Vyrnwy, an experience in itself, or the easy route to the beach at Barmouth, just over 25 miles away.

This beautifully furnished detached cottage is just brimming with charm and character, from its traditional beams to its fabulous wood burner. The cottage has lovely open-plan living areas and is perfect for a couple or a small family to enjoy at any time of the year.

Just a short stroll away is the centre of Penrhyndeudraeth where you can find a pub, café, shop, restaurant, takeaways and a main line station. It also has a station on the world-famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway, which winds its scenic way down to the sea at Porthmadog or journeys into the mountains to reach the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, which of course is also now well known for its zip wires, underground trampolines at Bounce Below and world class mountain biking.

Arddwyn is perfectly located for exploring the surrounding Snowdonia National Park and of course the fabulous coastline, with Black Rock Sands, 5 miles, one of the region’s superb sandy beaches where you can even drive your car on to the beach! Championship golf courses, horse riding, mountain biking and excellent walking opportunities are easily accessible. A visit to the renowned Italianate village of Portmeirion, 2 miles, is a must and Harlech’s magnificent castle is only an 8-mile drive. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Originally built as an almshouse in the 19th century, this delightful, terraced, Grade II listed holiday property has been skilfully converted into a bright and welcoming cottage for three people. There is a warming multi-fuel burner in the living room, a well-fitted kitchen (no washing machine) with breakfast table, which is the hub of the cottage, two bedrooms and a shower room. Outside, you will find a table and chairs to relax with a morning coffee overlooking the shared lawned garden and the village of Ysbyty Ifan, which is largely owned by the National Trust.

There is a pub and shop in the nearby village of Pentrefoelas, whilst the pretty alpinesque village of Betws-y-Coed, just 7 miles away, offers a wide selection of eateries. Betws-y-Coed is also home to Zip World Fforest, where adrenaline junkies will love the amazing Fforest Coaster which whisks you through the trees, a miniature railway, two historic churches where you may be lucky enough to catch a local male voice choir in concert, and more outdoor equipment shops than you can shake a stick at! You can take the moorland road over to Blaenau Ffestiniog too, visiting the largest zip wire in Europe, the incredible Bounce Below or take a leisurely trip on a narrow gauge steam train on the famous Ffestiniog Railway. This very attractive, semi-detached, stone-built holiday cottage is situated in the picture-postcard village of Ysbyty Ifan, nestled in the Snowdonia National Park. Ysbyty Ifan is set within the National Trusts Ysbyty Estate with very diverse landscapes and habitats, part of which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The River Conwy runs through this beautiful, picturesque village which is a haven for wildlife enthusiast and photographers, and ideal for cyclists, walkers and ramblers with walking routes from the door. There is also a children’s play area in the village to keep the children occupied. Keen walkers will enjoy the 6-mile circular route on the Ysbyty Estate to Cwm Eidda walk. In the village, is St John’s Church and is of significant historical importance as it was the birthplace of what we now know as the St John’s Ambulance, and the village was the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln’s great-grandmother.
With stunning, countryside views, Castiel Cottage dates back to c.mid 19th century and retains its original beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace, with a welcoming wood burner for those cooler evenings and a pretty patio garden where you can relax with a glass of wine on those balmy, sunny days. With comfort in mind, snuggle-up on the leather sofa whilst watching a film or simply be engrossed in one of the choice of books.
The popular village of Betws-y-Coed, the ’Gateway to the Snowdonia National Park’ is just 6 miles with shops, cafés, restaurants, waterfalls, pretty river pools and is a haven for mountain bikers with specialist outlets. The Victorian resort of Llandudno and Conwy, as well as the splendour of the Snowdonia National Park are all easily accessible by car. The beautiful Italiantate village of Portmeirion is well worth visiting or take a trip on the the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway, which are both within a 30-minute drive from the cottage. Other places to visit include the popular Riverside Chocolate House at Pentrefoelas and Conwy Falls. There is fun for all the family at the exciting Zip World Fforest, whilst water sports are catered for at Llyn Brenig. If you fancy a spot of surfing at any time of year, look no further than Surf Snowdonia, the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon, located in Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley. Beach 25 miles. Renowned for its sandy beaches and popular harbour towns, like nearby Aberdovey, Cardigan Bay offers a great base from which to explore all areas of north Wales, and a variety of tourist attractions, including the steam railways of Reiddol and Tal-y-Llyn, Corris Craft, King Arthurs Labyrinth, Dolgoch Falls, Cregennan Lakes and Cader Idris, mountain biking in the nearby Coed-y-Brenin Forest, and all areas of Snowdonia are easily accessible. The train stops a short walk from the cottage, and sits alongside an award-winning local brewery pub. Pets are welcome in the property, and a large dog crate can also be made available.

A host of visitor attractions are close by, including magnificent Caernarfon Castle and the exhilarating Zip World, well known for its 500ft-high zip line and mile-long rides with panoramic views of the coastline and quarry. Also within easy reach is the university town of Bangor, with National Trust Penrhyn Castle, and a wealth of golden sandy beaches both on the island of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. Boasting its own summerhouse incorporating a hot tub and sauna in a garden with views to the Manod mountains, the cottage is centrally located for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. Pebble Cottage is a stunning former fisherman’s cottage situated close to the beach front and local amenities in Aberdovey. There isn’t a better location to be for those looking for a seaside escape. Set within the southern reaches of the Snowdonia National Park, excellent for those walkers visiting the area. Aberdovey is a thriving seaside fishing village with brightly painted houses which seem to cling to the shoreline, and has a history dating back hundreds of years. It offers miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches with a fantastic selection of water based activities available including sailing, fishing and windsurfing. Golfers are also well catered for with an 18-hole championship golf course located at the western end of the village, which welcomes visiting players. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching available in the surrounding area. A myriad of visitor attractions are within easy reach including the Vale of Rheidol Railway, Talyllyn Railway, the Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth. Beach 100 yards. Once inside Summerhill, you’re greeted by an open-plan living and kitchen area, with comfy seating and breakfast area. There’s a separate utility with all the essentials, this may be a cosy cottage but you certainly will be well-equipped with all your home comforts and conveniences. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a double and a single, with plush mattresses to ensure a restful nights sleep, on this floor there is also a modern walk-in shower room. To the rear is cottage-style garden with seating, there are a few steps to reach the seating area.
The area is a Mecca for any outdoor enthusiasts, with bike trails, climbing, kayaking and walking routes in abundance. Only a few minutes away is Llechwedd slate caverns/Zip World; a great day out for the kids and adults alike. You’re only a short drive from Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Also within easy reach is Porthmadog; home to the Welsh Highland Railway and the famous Black Rock Sands. Just down the coast is Harlech - a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site, with its imposing castle and simply stunning beach and dunes, a must visit whilst in the area.
Coed Y Brenin Forest Park is under 20 minutes’ drive, this was Britain’s first purpose-built mountain biking centre and it is still one of the sport’s top destinations, with various trails suitable for all abilities. You’ll certainly not be short of sights to see and things to do in this diverse area. Beach 13 miles.

Boasting a superb location between the Snowdonia National Park and the Lleyn Peninsula, this charming barn conversion is situated on the owners’ smallholding, surrounded by grazing sheep and the owners’ two very friendly donkeys. Accessed by a rough track and set amidst farmland enjoying glorious mountain panoramas and views over open fields to Cardigan Bay, the cottage is cosy and full of character. Conveniently located half way between the two very popular coastal villages of Criccieth and Porthmadog, Tyddyn Iolyn is an excellent base to explore this delightful area, with a multitude of amazing walks, fantastic cycling opportunities and a fine selection of visitor attractions nearby.
Porthmadog is the departure point for wonderful steam train journeys on the world famous Ffestiniog Railway as it winds its spectacular way through superb scenery up into the Snowdonia Mountains. The pretty Italianate village of Portmeirion, location of the cult TV series ‘The Prisoner’ is also close by. Criccieth is a pretty village watched over by a medieval castle, and boasts a lovely beach and a good selection of restaurants and shops. The surrounding Snowdonia National Park offers a myriad of outdoor pursuits suitable for all ages. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pubs and restaurants 2½ miles.
