Brig-y-Don is a spacious detached property, cleverly divided into two properties, which can be booked separately or both together if you have an extended family. The larger of the two, Brig-y-Don, sleeps six, and has a lovely kitchen/dining room with stunning views out over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay, and a spacious living room with a warming wood burner – ideal for relaxing in front of with a glass of wine. The smaller property, Brig-y-Don Bach, which is all on one level, has a separate entrance and a private patio to the side of the house. It’s ideal for couples or grandparents wanting to have their own space! Both properties share the fabulous rear garden each with their own seating area. The main part of the garden enjoys the glorious sea views, which are particularly gorgeous in the evenings as the sun sinks into the sea to the west. The garden is enclosed, so great if you’re taking your pooch with you! From the end of the garden, there’s a direct path which, in just a few minutes, takes you down over the railway crossing, and onto the sandy beach (don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!).
You can stroll along the promenade and into the town centre, where you’ll find a good selection of pubs, cafés and eateries, plus a lovely choice of individual shops. You can hire a bike and explore the scenic Mawddach Trail, which runs along the course of an old railway line through pretty Penmaenpool, all the way to the market town of Dolgellau. You can enjoy a trip on a steam train on the Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway or Ffestiniog Railway, all of which are nearby, or visit mighty Harlech Castle, perched on the cliff in the picturesque town of Harlech (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If adrenaline’s your thing, a visit to Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is a must. Here you’ll find the world’s largest zip wire zone, plus Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets and whizz down slides deep underground in an old slate cavern. And if that sounds like too much excitement, you can always come back to your holiday home and admire the lovely views! Beach ¼ mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

This lovely quirky property is wedge-shaped, built in the angle of two terraced properties so is wider at the front than the back. There is still plenty of space inside though, and the property is beautifully presented with an open-plan living space, exposed slate walls and a modern kitchen for preparing delicious meals. Upstairs there is a large main bedroom, off which there’s a door to the smaller single bedroom.
The village of Ffestiniog (not to be confused with its larger neighbour the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog) is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Snowdonia National Park. There is a lovely pub just two minutes’ walk away serving delicious bar meals, whilst a wide selection of eateries are available just a few minutes’ drive away. Nearby, the former slate capital of the world, Blaenau Ffestiniog, is home to Zip World where you can experience the worlds’ largest zip wire zone as you zoom high over an old slate quarry. You can also go deep underground at Bounce Below and try out the nets and slides deep in an old slate cavern the size of St Paul’s Cathedral! You will hear the little steam trains of the famous Ffestiniog Railway as they bustle down the line on the spectacular journey to the coast at Porthmadog. Here you will find the enormous sandy beach at Black Rock Sands, don’t forget to take your bucket and spade, and nearby is the lovely Italianate village of Portmeirion. Beach 8½ miles. In the hillside village of Trefriw lies the terraced cottage of Llys Deulyn, a surprisingly spacious property for four. Although the living room and dining room are separate, there is a lovely open aspect between the two which adds to the spacious feeling. Outside, the River Crafnant tumbles past beyond the little garden, whilst a walk down the hill into the village centre brings you to two pubs, a restaurant and brasserie, a butcher’s shop, a café and the famous Trefriw Woollen Mill. From the cottage, it is a short journey along the delightful winding lanes to Llyn Crafnant, where you can spend time walking around the lake and there’s even a little tearoom on the lakeshore. The Gwydyr Forest is on the doorstep and offers much for the outdoor enthusiast, from walking and cycling to birdwatching and horse riding. The location is wonderful for your four legged friends too, and you will find they are well catered for at Llys Deulyn. The owners have thoughtfully provided dog treats, bowls, leads, towels, sleeping mat, treats, waste bags and information regarding great walks and dog friendly places nearby- everything has been thought of.
The nearby market town of Llanrwst has good shopping facilities, a stone bridge over the River Conwy, dating back from 1636, and the wonderfully restored Gwydir Castle. Popular Betws-y-Coed lies some 6 miles away surrounded by pine clad hillsides, together with a miniature railway, more outdoor shops than you can shake a stick at, and a wide choice of eateries to tempt your taste buds. It is also home to Zip World Fforest where you can try out a number of exciting adrenaline activities including the amazing Fforest Coaster. Being located in the Snowdonia National Park, you’ll find some amazing scenery on the doorstep, and Snowdon itself (at 3,560ft it’s the highest mountain in Wales and England) is within easy reach, as is Surf Snowdonia (3 miles away), the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon. The historic town of Conwy with its Edward I castle and town walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno are also both within easy reach. Beach 11¼ miles. Dating back to the Victorian era and a former vicarage, this large detached property is located slightly off the A5 historical route between Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig. The holiday property has been carefully restored retaining many original features, boasting a cosy and atmospheric wood burner, whilst a medieval highgate bed captures the Victorian period. The elevated gardens to the rear (steps may be slippery when wet) overlooks the mountains and local countryside.

The property is in an excellent location with the walks of Snowdon on the doorstep, including Llanberis Path, the easiest and longest route, The Miners’ Track, Snowdon Ranger Path and the Watkin Path. Capel Curig nestles in the foothills of Moel Siabod, Y Glyderau and Y Carneddau, endorsing the majestic view of the Snowdon horseshoe. Afon Llygwy flows through the village, making its way down to Betws-y-Coed, a nearby village where forests, lakes and mountains combine to produce a stunning landscape. Coffee shops, craft houses, a miniature steam railway and a number of good eating houses are located in the centre of Betws-y-Coed village.

Day trips to consider would be Bodnant Gardens, set in one of North Wales’ most famous estates, or Conway, with its castle walls, marina, selection of shops and delicatessens, not forgetting the smallest house in the UK according to the Guinness Book of Records. Llangollen in the opposite direction is a pleasant Welsh town with its horse-drawn canal boats, light railway, Dr Who experience, and world famous festivals such as the annual Eisteddfod. Beddgelert is a short drive and is good for walkers or children wishing to visit Gelert’s Grave. Most areas of the Lleyn Peninsula are within an hour’s drive, where good beaches and watersports can be found. Portmeirion village is also great for a day trip with its exotic plants and Italianate buildings. Fishing and golf are available within 5 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.
