There are lovely walks along the River Deveron which feeds into Banff Bay having a lovely sandy, dog friendly beach. Banff itself enjoys spectacular sea views, magnificent sunsets, including the possibility of spotting the Northern Lights between October and March, clean air as well as river and sea angling. There is plenty to occupy the visitor in the surrounding area, from golden sandy beaches (the majority of which are dog friendly) stretching from Banff to Nairn, to the numerous castles and historic monuments which abound. There are cycle routes and pony trekking, and make sure you explore the Castle and Whisky Trails further inland, which wend their way through dramatic scenery.
The lively city of Aberdeen, around 1 hour away, is great for retail therapy, cinemas and theatre. Inverness is around 2 hours away, the gateway to Loch Ness which leads down to Fort William.

The ancient cathedral and museum offer insight into the history of Dunblane. An ideal location for exploring further afield the railway station has regular service into the cities of Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. Stirling is well worth a visit, steeped in history the city is home to some of Scotland’s best attractions including Stirling Castle, The National Wallace Monument, Bannochburn, Church of the Holy Rude and Cambuskenneth Abbey. A great selection of restaurants to suit all tastes, swimming pools and sport centres, multiplex cinema, theatre, museum, pubs and shops. Stirling University is less than 15 minutes drive, and this is a good base to visit a friend or family who may be attending one of the graduation ceremonies.

Located near to the towns of Kelso which is 6 miles away, and Duns which is 8 miles away, West Cottage was part of the original farm cottages and is surrounded by fields and countryside worked by the farm, so there will likely be some cows, sheep or horses coming to the fences to say hello when you’re out exploring.
The cottage accommodation is surprising in the generous size of the rooms. Downstairs the living room is ideal for relaxing in front of a movie on the TV and enjoying the cosiness of the wood burner. Located on a working arable farm the cottage provides the perfect escape combining modern comfort with a taste of country living. Kids will love the tractors working in the fields and from time to time there will even be some animals keeping the grass nice and neat! The 3 bedrooms are comfortable and well presented and have been fitted as one single, one king size and one twin which could be altered to provide a super kingsize. The shower room has a larger double shower base and again has been well finished with a touch of modern style. The living room will prove to be a favourite place for the whole family with the wood burning stove and smart TV - just in case the weather isn’t the nicest!
