Bailey’s Barn dates from the 1700s and has a welcoming and stylish feel, with a collection of art, an original mural and very high beamed ceilings. With eco-friendly instant heating, a cosy wood burner and well-furnished throughout, it offers an open plan living/kitchen/dining area, and a separate en-suite bedroom. There is a private off-road parking, bike store, a courtyard garden with feature lighting and an original ancient cheese press and a new second garden with beautiful views. Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. The property is most welcoming for two dogs, with a special welcome gift and bedding.
Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. Grindon is home to a host of fantastic walking routes, it is a peaceful and tranquil rural location with local pubs around you in Butterton, Warslow and Waterfall. This property began as a stable, then became a workshop, until the owners wanted to do more with the space and open it up to visitors given the stunning area it is in.
The property has views of Thor’s Cave and is a fantastic base for your Peak District getaway. The owners really have thought of everything and had their guest’s comfort at the forefront of their minds when planning the renovations. It has an open plan kitchen and sitting area, the kitchen has all the amenities you should need such as fridge/freezer, electric hob, and a combi oven/microwave.
There is a table with two chairs conveniently placed with stunning high ceilings and feature light fittings. The living area has a comfortable sofa, with pops of colour complimenting the white finished walls, there is a Smart TV with access to Netflix, a comforting electric wood burner and a single sofa bed neatly tucked away is required.
The bedroom is quaint with shabby chic designs in mind and an en-suite shower room. Modern shutters have been placed in the main living area for privacy. There is a patio area next to the property where you may bump into the owner’s dog, Skye.

Yew Tree Bothy, which forms part of the owners’ home, provides small but comfortable holiday accommodation which is ideally located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Surrounded by 30 acres of land, the property has its own sitting-out area from which to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding area. The village of Holymoorside has 2 pubs, 3 churches and a small local shop; a wider range of amenities can be found in Chesterfield which is 3½ miles away. The School House is a truly wonderful detached, Grade II listed stone built cottage situated in a rural position in the hamlet of Bradnop, less than 1 mile from the picturesque Peak District National Park. Thoughtfully and extensively renovated throughout to offer spacious, comfortable accommodation and even boasts its very own private hot tub for guests use. Many of the original features have been carefully retained including beams, exposed stone walls and fireplace to name but a few. There is a well-kept enclosed garden at the front of the property and a paddock area to the rear.
The small and pretty rural hamlet of Bradnop is situated on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. Close by you will find the market town of Leek with its array of antique shops and quirky crafts. The thriving picturesque market town of Ashbourne and the spa town of Buxton are within driving distance. For families and the more adventurous, Alton Towers is only a 5 mile drive away.
Nearby you will find superb walks with Dovedale, the beautiful Manifold Valley, and the popular Manifold Cycle Track, all within easy reach. There are lots of pretty villages to explore one being Hartington where you will find tasty local cheeses in the village cheese shop, also close by there are several pubs serving fantastic home cooked food. In the pretty village of Middleton-by-Wirksworth, close to the High Peak Trail and near to Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, the location is second to none! There are also many fantastic walks available direct from the door for those who enjoy exploring on foot. Cromford nestles in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site and is home to the Arkwright Museum. On site there is a wonderful shopping outlet as well as the working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. A couple of miles away you will discover Carsington Water offering watersports and cycle hire as well as an excellent visitors centre with a restaurant and coffee shop. Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the Ecclesbourne Valley railways in nearby Wirksworth, and the fabulous Tramway Museum in Crich along the valley. Climbers are spoilt for choice with the Gritstone Black Rocks a short walk away, and the superb limestone crags nearby to explore. Let’s not forget the amazing stately homes and gardens dotted around this beautiful area to explore, such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall to name but a few. Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From the owner’s gate the famous Kinder Scout can be seen and there are many picturesque walks direct from the doorstep. For those with four-legged travelling companions a dog hatch leads from the kitchen into the completely enclosed patio area, with seating and barbecue which is great for the long summer nights. You’ll find lots of useful doggy extras, and as an added bonus by prior arrangement with the owner there is even an outdoor area on site where you can let your dogs have a run around stress free. A short walk will take you into the small friendly town of Whaley Bridge where you’ll find food serving pubs, some dog friendly, cafés and restaurants. 5 minutes the other way is the famous Buxwoth Basin and pub. There is a train station in Whaley Bridge with direct services to both Manchester and Buxton. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.

Goosander Cottage is around ½ mile from Holme village where you’ll find a cosy pub serving food and being set in the rolling hills of the Peak District there are walks straight from the door. Keen cyclists can also recreate routes from the Tour de France 2014 including the iconic Holme Moss which is literally a stone’s throw away. Holmfirth is around 3 miles from the cottage, and anyone familiar with the TV comedy ’Last of the Summer Wine’ may recognise the area as the backdrop from this. In Holmfirth you’ll find a wide selection of cafés, bars, pubs and restaurants to suit the majority of tastes, together with a century old picture house and live music venue, and also a vineyard. Huddersfield is around 8 miles away and home to the UK’s first eco-spa, and a whole host of Peak District towns, villages and attractions are within easy reach to explore.

Swallows is an idyllic barn conversion within Brook Farm and offers cosy and comfortable accommodation to sleep two guests.
Enter into the kitchen where you will find all the equipment you should need during your stay, then through to the living room where there is a table and chairs, overlooking the grounds and views of Brook Farm, comfy sofa and TV. The village of Middle Mayfield is set amidst stunning scenery and is only a short distance from the lovely market town of Ashbourne with its interesting streets and cobbled alleys. At the southern end of the Peak District National Park you will be spoilt for things to fill your day. The nearby Dove and Manifold Valley provide a peaceful place to enjoy, whilst kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and cycling are all available at Carsington Water. For the thrill seekers amongst you, the renowned Alton Towers theme park is well worth a visit. Bollington is a thriving town surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park. Known locally as ‘the happy valley’, it’s renowned for lovely independent shops, cafés and an abundance of pubs, together with its most notable landmark ‘White Nancy’. Visible for miles around, White Nancy is a stone folly located on top of Kerridge Hill, which once reached, offers incredible views across Bollington, Macclesfield and Cheshire. There are plenty of local attractions to explore, including the fascinating Macclesfield Silk Museum, Capesthorne Hall and Gardens, and the impressive Jodrell Bank Observatory.
There are also many charming towns and villages nearby, such as the picturesque village of Prestbury and the historic market town of Knutsford. Bollington’s vicinity to the Peak District National Park means the location is perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and horse riding. Many trails start just outside the town including the Middlewood Way, a converted railway track that stretches 11 miles from Macclesfield to Marple.
