There is a local pub within a mile which serves real ale and good food. There is a well-stocked licensed general store, a post office which sells wonderful breads and preserves. Longnor has a fish and chip shop and a small, but delightful childrens park Woodside View is a haven for walkers and cyclists to explore the Tissington and High Peak cycle tracks.
Nearby is Buxton with its eventful Opera House, the Crescent Hotel which was recently opened boasting a 5-star spa and the pavilion Gardens, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach, along with numerous National Trust Properties, Parks and Gardens, and delightful historic market towns and villages.

With a real ’wow’ factor, this award-winning, semi-detached rural barn conversion is in the 900 ft high hamlet of Uppertown in the village of Bonsall. It is a delightful and picturesque place for a relaxing getaway or a walking/cycling holiday in the Peak District National Park. Bailey’s Barn dates from the 1700s and has a welcoming and stylish feel, with a collection of art, an original mural and very high beamed ceilings. With eco-friendly instant heating, a cosy wood burner and well-furnished throughout, it offers an open plan living/kitchen/dining area, and a separate en-suite bedroom. There is a private off-road parking, bike store, a courtyard garden with feature lighting and an original ancient cheese press and a new second garden with beautiful views. Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. The property is most welcoming for two dogs, with a special welcome gift and bedding.
Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. The owners live on-site, and are on hand to help with any queries. Shop, café and pub 500 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

Cunliffe Cottage is a wonderfully bright and extremely spacious ground floor cottage, just 1 mile from the centre of Hathersage in the stunning Hope Valley. Beautifully refurbished in 2020, the cottage can be found at the end of a private drive on the friendly owner’s working farm and with the owners living adjacent. Benefitting from underfloor heating, three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and a further bathroom, and stunning views over the surrounding countryside, it really does make for a luxury rural break. You’ll also find ample private parking and an enclosed patio with seating area to relax, take stock and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Hathersage is a large, busy village in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and has associations with both Robin Hood and the Brontës. It is home to a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as, quite uniquely, a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. Centrally located, the neighbouring village of Bamford is just over 1 mile away, Hope 3 miles and then the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton is just under 5 miles away. The fascinating plague village of Eyam is around a 15 minute drive; Bakewell and Chatsworth House are around 20 minutes away. Hathersage, Bamford and Hope all have their own train stations connecting you to the bright lights of Sheffield and Manchester. An area popular with lovers of the great outdoors, you’ll find ample walking, cycling and climbing available. Stanage and Burbage Edge are both nearby and reward you with superb views of the Dark Peak moorlands. Ultimately whether you’re looking to explore this wonderful part of the Peak District by foot or by car, or simply escape from a hectic life, Cunliffe Cottage really does make a wonderful base. The Old Shop is a stylish ground-floor apartment centrally located in the charming town of Bollington. Once inside you’ll find the good-sized living space is open-plan and sociable by design. There’s a comfortable sofa, Smart TV and the well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals. With numerous eateries within a 5-minute walk, there really is no need! The cosy bedroom has a sumptuous double bed perfect for an excellent night’s sleep, and the convenience of en-suite facilities.
Bollington is a thriving town surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park. Known locally as ‘the happy valley’, it’s renowned for lovely independent shops, cafés and an abundance of pubs, together with its most notable landmark ‘White Nancy’. Visible for miles around, White Nancy is a stone folly located on top of Kerridge Hill, which once reached, offers incredible views across Bollington, Macclesfield and Cheshire. There are plenty of local attractions to explore, including the fascinating Macclesfield Silk Museum, Capesthorne Hall and Gardens, and the impressive Jodrell Bank Observatory.
There are also many charming towns and villages nearby, such as the picturesque village of Prestbury and the historic market town of Knutsford. Bollington’s vicinity to the Peak District National Park means the location is perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and horse riding. Many trails start just outside the town including the Middlewood Way, a converted railway track that stretches 11 miles from Macclesfield to Marple. Finally, within an hour’s drive, you can explore numerous attractions such as the stunning Chatsworth House, Lyme Park, the historic city of Chester, and the vibrant city of Manchester with its world-class museums, galleries, and shopping destinations. A charming two-bedroom, one-bathroom holiday bungalow located in the picturesque town of Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Alton Towers which is a renowned theme park, it guarantees a day full of fun and excitement for all. There is a golf club nearby for golf enthusiasts, the course is one of the best in the area and offers beautiful views and challenges for players of all skill levels. The Tissington Trail is perfect for walking or cycling, it follows the path of a former railway line and passes through picturesque countryside and charming villages.
Carsington Water is a short drive away and is a popular spot for watersports, including sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. The reservoir is also surrounded by walking and cycling trails which makes a great 8-mile route. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, Cherry Tree Corner provides an ideal base for exploring the area’s activities and enjoying scenic walks.

Abbots Abode is a characteristic cottage sleeping up to six guests in two bedrooms. On the ground floor is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with farmhouse dining table to seat all guests, and a comfortable living room with ample seating, electric wood burner and TV. On the first floor is a family bathroom with shower over bath, a double bedroom and the second bedroom has four single beds - please note two of the single beds are up a short and secure ladder to the mezzanine, perfect for kids. There is a shared utility room on site with washing machine with hanging space to dry wet coats or boots. The property has a garden to the front with stunning views down the Peak District valley, it is a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while planning your day ahead.
The views from Monks Retreat are beautiful, just a short walk away you have an extensive panorama or seven dales and can see far out into the distance to the high moorlands of Axe Edge and Kinder Scout. The Limestone Way trail runs directly through the farm so you can easily hope on to this for your first exciting Peak District walk, there are many in the area such as Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail to name a few. Local to the property is Buxton town which offers an array of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the famous opera house that has shows on regularly. Bakewell and Matlock are also nearby to explore, as well as Chatsworth House. After you have enjoyed a fun-filled day head down to the local pub to enjoy some local ales and home cooked food.

This beautiful detached barn conversion has been charmingly renovated, retaining and working with many original features where possible. Tastefully furnished to a very good standard throughout, the open-plan living and kitchen area with its stunning beamed vaulted ceiling creates a warm and cosy social environment. Located on the owners grounds, thoughtful additional extras can be provided at the owners discretion where possible making the full stay an extra special experience. These can include provision of a breakfast pack, special occasion pack, a cooked breakfast in the main house, or a cooked evening BBQ, which is available on request. Extra costs payable direct to the owner apply where food is provided, however the immaculately maintained gardens as shown to the public as part of Barlow Open Gardens can be dressed and lit at no extra cost. The zen area and outdoor fire can be lit once during your stay upon request. This area is available at the owners discretion. Please note this area is not available if the owners are not present.
The Barn is conveniently located 115 steps away from The Peacock at Barlow bar and restaurant offering the best views around, as well as just 80 steps away from The Hackney House Cafe and gift shop which serves a hearty breakfast and is renowned in the area for its home cooking. The Barn at Woodland View can be found in the small Derbyshire hamlet of Barlow. Most famous for its well dressings, the village uniquely has 3 wells, which the villagers decorate and round the occasion off with a carnival weekend. On the edge of the Peak District National Park, the area is home to excellent walking and with a host of attractions available in the vicinity. The large market town of Chesterfield famous for its crooked spire is just 15 minutes away, and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are around 20 minutes. The ever-popular Bakewell and Hathersage in the heart of the Hope Valley are also around 20 minutes and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and wonderfully historic plague village of Eyam are around half an hour. Matlock, with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham is also around 30 minutes, Edale, home to the start/finish of the Pennine Way and the spa town of Buxton can be reached in 45 minutes. Swallows is an idyllic barn conversion within Brook Farm and offers cosy and comfortable accommodation to sleep two guests.
Enter into the kitchen where you will find all the equipment you should need during your stay, then through to the living room where there is a table and chairs, overlooking the grounds and views of Brook Farm, comfy sofa and TV. The double bedroom is light and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom. A bistro set sits outside the front door for you to enjoy whilst planning your exciting day ahead, whilst across the drive is a shared lawned garden that guests are free to enjoy.
Nestled in an excellent location for those who love the outdoors, guests will find an abundance of activities to enjoy nearby, including walking, cycling and watersports to name a few. The village of Middle Mayfield is set amidst stunning scenery and is only a short distance from the lovely market town of Ashbourne with its interesting streets and cobbled alleys. It also features antique shops and a fabulous choice of pubs and restaurants for all to enjoy.
At the southern end of the Peak District National Park you will be spoilt for things to fill your day. The nearby Dove and Manifold Valley provide a peaceful place to enjoy, whilst kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and cycling are all available at Carsington Water. For the thrill seekers amongst you, the renowned Alton Towers theme park is well worth a visit. Nearby you will discover many historic houses such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, and of course let’s not forget the market town of Bakewell, famous for its delicious pudding.
