Fair Maid (ref UK11078) sits in the courtyard of a former farm in the heart of the village of Kentisbeare, East Devon. With its wood clad exterior, it is well laid out with a comfortable interior, making the property perfect for couples, friends or a small family. There is an enclosed patio at the rear of the barn which is bordered by a stream and is the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a glass of your favourite tipple on a balmy summer’s evening. This is a superb house which has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard and boasts a cosy wood burner, together with many original features. The kitchen/breakfast room looks out over the grounds.

Glimsters Cottage (ref UK31014) is a lovely thatched cottage which has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character boasting original exposed beams, stone walls and lots of welcoming touches such as a blazing a wood burner. A spacious living room and a well-equipped kitchen/dining room have been make up the ground floor. On the first floor you will find two sumptuous bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, as well as a family bathroom.

Famed for its laid back vibe and surfing lifestyle, Devon hosts an enchanting cocktail of golden beaches, traditional villages and a rich, rolling countryside steeped in history. For walkers and birdwatchers, this really is the most suitable location as there are so many walks to enjoy from the front door. Many activities available in the area include golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous National Trust properties within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has a lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Horatio Nelson and Lord Byron, whilst a little further afield lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted visitors such as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. Set all on the ground floor with ramped access, you enter into the spacious yet cosy open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine and all you need to whip up everything from the simplest meal to a family feast! The living area has a gorgeous corner sofa, TV and gas wood burner, making this the perfect space to relax after a busy day exploring Exmoor. The bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, are located at each end of the apartment, with a twin bedroom at one end and a double bedroom at the other which has beautiful French doors leading to your private gravelled courtyard. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.
When staying at Withymead Cottage, you are lucky enough to be staying in one of Exmoor’s most picturesque villages, with its river meandering through, a fabulous tea room, well stocked local shop and a 17th-century pub, it truly is the English countryside at its finest. Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.

Roosters Retreat is a first-floor apartment set within an old Grade II Listed cottage that is situated within 1 mile of the seafront in this lovely seaside town and offers comfortable, spacious and contemporary accommodation for up to four guests who are looking for the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful part of the country. It’s also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. The town offers a wide range of attractions, including the beach, promenade, harbour, beautiful gardens and a colourful tree-lined avenue with an array of shops and amenities. Dominated by the wooded slopes of North Hill, the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and is also well situated to discover the beauty of North Devon with stunning Lynton and Lynmouth en route.

This lovely ground floor apartment is both spacious and airy and is located under 300 yards away from the serene local beach – the perfect place to enjoy some of the best sunsets in this amazing region. The popular South West coast path is just a few minutes walk from High Tide. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay as a base for discovering North Devon or want a place to simply kick back and relax, then High Tide is just perfect. Accessed via the private car park, the apartment is reached up a flight of stairs and once inside the accommodation is all on one level and comprises two bedrooms (a kingsize and a twin) and a contemporary bathroom with a bath and shower over. The open plan living space includes a comfortable living area with a Smart TV and patio doors leading out into the patio garden, which is on two levels. From here you can sit and enjoy an outdoor meal or evening drink and you can see the sea with Wales in the distance. Back inside, the kitchen/dining area has all you’ll need for your stay. Private parking is also available for up to one car. Within a 5 minute walk there are shops, cafes and pubs.
The surrounding area has many attractions waiting to be discovered, such as the local beach at Combe Martin where you can enjoy the stunning sunsets of the North Devon coast. On the door step is the South West Coast Path too, popular with walkers, and the surrounding area boasts other attractions such as Cairn Woodland Nature Reserve, Watermouth Bay and, the lovely Fuchsia Valley, Watermouth Castle and Theme Park and don’t forget the nearby town of Ilfracombe with its very own harbour and port which dates back to at least the 12th Century. here you can sample quality ice cream, fish and chips and visit various craft shops, plus Damien Hirst’s ‘Verity’ statue, which is a must see. Trips to Lundy Island, coastal cruises, fishing, sea-life safaris and diving are also all available from here. Take a trip on the Ilfracombe Princess and see seals, porpoises and sea birds nesting on the cliffs. Try your hand at sea fishing on Blue Fin or take an exhilarating tour of the amazing coastline on the Ilfracombe Sea Safari or on the Hampshire Rose, a former RNLI Lifeboat.
Combe Martin is also perfectly situated to the enjoy the countless other North Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail which provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery stretching from Barnstaple through to Bideford and beyond. And then there’s stunning Exmoor National Park with its beautiful night skies, just 6 miles away and Lynton & Lynmouth, 13 miles to the northeast with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway, which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world! Many walks can be taken directly from the doorstep, or why not hop in the car and explore the villages that make Exmoor so special, with hidden country pubs sat on the banks of winding rivers to quaint tea rooms with homemade cakes and doorstep sandwiches?

Head to the coast and walk around the harbour of Watchet, play the arcades in Minehead, or take the dog to Blue Anchor with its long stretch of pet-friendly beach. Further afield you have the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth with its famous cliff railway, the highest and the steepest fully water-powered Victorian railway in the World. If Trains are your thing, then the West Somerset Steam Railway that runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead is a must-do day out for all the family.

Pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves are dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon. The wild beauty of Dartmoor and Exmoor are close by and the famous Eden Project is an easy drive for a great day out. Most importantly, the property is within easy walking distance to Woolacombe’s magnificent award-winning beach. All of Woolacombe’s shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities are right on the doorstep, so you can really soak up the atmosphere of the village.
If you fancy a day away from the beach, there are plenty of other things to do during your stay. Nearby Ilfracombe has all the amenities of a bigger town with a wider range of pubs, restaurants and shops to choose from. The famous Tunnels Beaches is just around the corner, and a short walk away is Ilfracombe’s pretty harbour area, with its quay side, lifeboat station and church overlooking the Bristol Channel.
There are numerous attractions within easy reach of the property including the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth funicular railway. There are also beaches at Croyde and Saunton, where again you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor and the South West Coastal Path are located close by, and on a clear day the views of the surrounding coast and countryside can be spectacular from these well known walking areas. Located in the heart of North Devon, Grace Cottage is perfectly placed to get out and explore all this stunning area has to offer. The North Devon coastline has a little something for everyone from quaint old fishing villages at Bucks Mill and Clovelly, to large sandy beaches at Saunton and Westward Ho!. The quay and lighthouse at Hartland offer some stunning scenery whatever the weather. Other local attractions include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal Factory, both near Great Torrington.

There are three golf courses close by, the nearest being Libbaton Golf Course. Salmon and trout fishing on the River Taw can be arranged locally, whilst slightly further afield both Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily accessible to enjoy a day’s exploring. There is cycling along the Tarka Trail. Nearby Barnstaple has a good range of shops, restaurants and local amenities, as well as a theatre and cinema.
